If the national Pride celebration for the LGBTQ+ community had a musical soundtrack, what songs would be represented? From this question, we’ve come to the conclusion that no one playlist will be the same, nor is one individual a carbon copy of another person. A celebration of Pride is a celebration of individuality, love, self assurance and humanity without fear of persecution.
At Pandora, we believe that every person deserves the right to love and to live a purposeful life.
The month of June is a time when we recognize human rights, and Pandora kicks-off the celebration with ‘Sounds Like Pride,’ a campaign paying tribute to the LGBTQ+ community. The ‘Sounds Like Pride’ campaign features the newly created ‘Sounds Like Pride’ radio station spotlighting groundbreaking LGBTQ+ artists including Hurray for the Riff Raff, Jonny Pierce from The Drums, and more. Helping launch the ‘Sounds Like Pride’ radio station, artists lend their voice via Artist Audio Messages to advocate for tolerance and inclusion of all people.
As part of the celebration, employees from Pandora’s Pride community created a series of inspirational video testimonials of what Pride sounds like to them. Check it out here.
Pandora also partners with The Ally Coalition, a nonprofit created to inspire people within the creative communities to take action against homophobia and transphobia in society.
Tune into our “Sounds Like Pride” station featuring music from LGBTQ+ artists including Against Me!, Grizzly Bear, Le Tigré and Perfume Genius, as well as classics from ABBA, Blondie, Culture Club, David Bowie, George Michael, Queen and many more.
