Dear Listeners,

privacy_settings_popup_4.jpg

We’ve just updated our site to make it easier for you to find and adjust your privacy settings. We thought it was important to make this adjustment to better reflect the realities of the internet today. If you’re a returning listener you’ve probably already seen a reminder about your Pandora profile page, something we’ve offered since we launched.

This reminder provides you with the immediate opportunity to see your profile, make it public, private, or learn more. If you click on ‘Learn More,’ you’ll be taken to some FAQs.

New listeners will see a similar message when they register and we’re in the process of sending emails to the folks who listen to Pandora exclusively on mobile devices, encouraging them to access their Pandora account on a computer to check out our new privacy features.

All profile pages on Pandora now have a prominent ‘Privacy Settings’ link on the upper right. These settings let you specify how public you want your profile to be and, if you’re a Facebook user – whether or not you’d like to import your information from Facebook to Pandora.

We’re big believers in the social aspect of music discovery and sharing and want to make it as easy as possible, but we also want to make sure we respect each listeners’ personal comfort when it comes to this. It is our sincere hope that this new format does just that!

As always – we welcome your feedback about this. It’s a very important issue to us and we want to get it right.

Thanks for taking the time to read this through – and keep on listening!

– Tim (Founder)

I like Pandora in theory, and have to use it at my office since I'm not allowed to bring in a real radio. I wish that Pandora could understand me a little better though. Can't there be a way to BLOCK an artist??? I really hate Michael jackson, but anytime I try to listen to The Drifters - there he is. I end up making new station after new staion, just to get something like what i really wanted. Isn't it bad enough that the song I originally ask for won't play? Do I really have to be stuck with other artists I dont like??

PLEASE - ENOUGH WITH THE ADS!!!! I love you guys, and I know you are finally profitable. I saw an interview with your founder and CEO a few weeks back - congrats on being profitable after 9 years. Seriously - love you guys and the apps, but PLEASE - enough with the commercials. Maybe once every 30 minutes like a radio station, but sometimes I hear the same shit every 5 minutes. I'm going nuts. I really will stop using this if the ads don't slow down. Yes, I can always by the ad free plan, but I'm broke as of now, and my wife would kill me for spending grocery money on this. Please don't upset your oldest listeners by over saturating with ads. I'm about to leave.

My daughter had a Pandora login and my wife was listening to it. I thought I would create my own login on the same computer and have my own stations! My daughters time ran out and she couldn't listen any more - and I can't listen either! I went to another PC and can listen OK. What gives? Should I just close out all accounts and chalk it up to a lost cause?????

Hey, is there any way to include beats per minute/tempo as a critera for songs? So often artists have fast/slow songs and I only want to hear one kind. Haven't found any controls for this nor did I find anything in the help section. I've chosen stations named "Upbeat Blues" etc but discovered that was rather meaningless - still contained lots of slow put-you-to-sleep music. When I listen to Pandora at work, I'm hoping for something with a bit of life and don't want to keep going back to Pandora to 'dislke' slow ones or search for a new station. Note: the blog was was the only place around for feedback as far as I could tell, so posting my question here.

Thanks for the continued feedback everyone. @Michael -- You're most welcome to use multiple Pandora accounts on the same computer. However, if one account hits the cap, the machine will be locked for all users, until the person that locked it by reaching the cap pays $.99 to listen for the rest of the month (or upgrades to Pandora One) to unlock it. @Paula -- While we don't have the ability to choose specific BPM ranges on Pandora, we do have some curated Genre stations that might interest you. Under the music player on the main page (http://www.pandora.com), click on the lower left box that says Genre Stations to see these -- hopefully one will be the right level of "upbeat" for you!

You guys are doing a good job. I like the fact that I can assign many different types of music to one station. The problem I have is that you tend to feature a theme too long (e.g. selecting a long sequence R&B (or any particular genre)). I have tried using the "I'm tired of this song" feature and this seems to work but what I really want to say is that I am tired of this genre for the time being. Can this be improved? Thanks rw

I just purchased an IPhone 4 and the version of Pandora has commercials on it. How do I get music only like I did before?

Tim, Pandora is a truly amazing interface that only continues to get better. However you select music based on artists I select is fantastic. I have it on my computer and on my tv, pandora are yet to make a platform that works with my cell phone but I am sure one will come out soon. I own the samsung mythic If you can put a rush on the development of that I would appreciate it ;) Laith
