We hope you’ve been enjoying the first week of the games and some of the music we highlighted in Part I of our “Pandora Guide to the 2012 London Olympics”. To keep you fueled until the Closing Ceremony we’re providing you with another round of U.K.-inspired musical suggestions to use as seeds for some great Pandora listening.
The Closing Ceremony concert features a “The Best of British” lineup with several classic artists from across the decades. Try adding variety to your Olympic-inspired stations by adding these bands that span various decades:
- The 60s and 70s –The Who
- The 80s – New Order, The Specials, George Michael
- The 90s – Blur, The Spice Girls
- 2000s – Jessie J., Take That
What comes to mind when you think of music from across the pond? Try starting stations with a few of the following iconic Brits and hear some of the songs that have defined a number of eras in UK music and influenced artists across the world. What are some of your favorite acts from the U.K.?
- Billy Idol
- Def Leppard
- Depeche Mode
- Elton John
- Ozzy Osbourne
- Radiohead
- Robbie Williams
- Rod Stewart
- The Cure
- The Smiths
And finally, why not check out our genre stations that spotlight the musical heritage of the U.K. from the 60’s to the present? Almost 50 years ago, The Beatles stepped off a plane in the U.S. for the first time and ushered in the British Invasion. Then, in the 90s, when Grunge was exploding in the U.S., British Alternative Rock emerged as Britpop.
Have fun watching the remainder of the Olympics and enjoy creating your new Olympic fever Pandora stations!
