CURATOR’S CHOICE

Sleater-Kinney are back with No Cities To Love!

Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 12.53.48 PMThey have grown in the last few years in projects like Quasi, Wild Flag and Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks – but they still have one foot in their punk roots. The songs remain angular, the vocals remain intense; but the guitars are crunchy and full and the compositions more layered than before.

More melancholy musings from the son of Steve Earle.

Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 12.15.47 AMJustin Townes Earle’s sixth studio album Absent Fathers is the companion piece to his preceding long-player, Single Mothers from 2014. In a somewhat similar style to that of his godfather, Townes Van Zandt, JTE has a knack for writing about people’s hardscrabble lives and dysfunctional relationships with beautifully contrasting melodies.

“Real Love” finds Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne building on the success of their hit “Rather Be” with a dash of vibrant soul.

Musicologist

I dig all things ‘60s: garage punk, obscure psych, Stax and Motown soul stompers. My first CD purchases were REM’s Out of Time and Boyz II Men’s Cooleyhighharmony. I still own both! I’m pretty much immersed in music – hitting up local record shops, catching live shows at crusty dives, and DJing around town at various venues and bars.

Pandora One subscriber here... just curious about how long it normally takes for new music by an artist (with a station already) to get added? For example, I have a station based on the artist/producer Blue Six. He had an album release in the Fall 2014 but no tracks from that album have been added to that station. Should I delete the station and recreate??
