Pandora SXSW – Day Three: Hip Hop/R&B

SXSW Hip Hop and R&B day delivered a diverse lineup of talent that lit up the Pandora Den. Bibi brought a tight band that laid out some classic soul updated with pop swagger. Kevin Garrett gave us love songs on his piano, giving us a fresh take on a mature sound. Emily King had us singing and dancing in the booth a she took us back to the gospel roots of soul music. After an impromptu convo on the air with Too $hort, Anderson .Paak stole the show and won SXSW, rocking his mix of Hip Hop and R&B with both a live band and DJ.

The evening’s festivities were delayed because of a thunderstorm but that didn’t damper the vibe. As soon as the crowd packed in, Tory Lanez set it off and let us know why he’ll be the next one people are talking about. He rocked covers of Poison and Pony, then crowd surfed his way to stardom.  Jacquees brought his dance crew, Lil Dicky made us laugh and Tate Kobang brought down the house with the Bankroll remix. The crowd was there to see the Thugga, and once Young Thug hit the stage, he blew the roof off. One of our favorite artists from the ATL closed the night with style and class.
