Pandora Discovery Den 2015: Day 1

Pandora’s Wednesday menu for SXSW is a Prix Fixe offering of Electronic textures to make your ears’ tastebuds get up and dance. Elliphant’s spicy attitude as a Swedish singer and rapper deviates from the textbook ingredients of dance and hip-hop. She’s shared kitchen space with Jungle, Skrillex, Diplo, Bunji Garlin, Riton and Gaslamp Killer.

Australian DJ Duo Peking Duk gets you “High” in the club, marinating a stew overflowing with big beats and heavy synths. This allows the choppy vocal melodies to rise to the top.

Not content with waiting last for dessert, Halsey tempts the sweet tooth with her sugary pop sensibility and sweet melodies.

ODESZA’s sunbaked soul sounds emerge from Seattle with flavorful drums and classically trained piano skills on the softer side of synthesizers. Dubbed-out vocal samples and mood altering pads add to the dish.

LOLAWOLF hits the grill at peak heat, cooking up some left field R&B mixed with electro-pop, artsy hip hop beats and delicious fuzz toppings.

Robert DeLong combines his indie vocals and EDM sensibilities, creating au jus that tastes good on any type of rhythm. Sample his pop palate from moombahton to trap, indie dance to club hits.

GRiZ concocts a seven-layer dip of bouncy hip-hop beats, funky guitar riffs, groovy organs, squeaky synth leads, soul food chops and square wave bass attacks delightfully garnished with blippity bleeps.

Gorgon City sauces things up with Black Butter records, a British soulful deep house invasion. Indulge in some fatty sounds from this duo, who’ve already cooked up hits with MNEK, Clean Bandit, Jess Glynne and Basement Jaxx.

Last but certainly not least, taste the Swedish beat-balls of CAZZETTE, the EDM team that will take the club by storm.

So, getting into it live at the Den or joining us on the livestream, we hope Wednesday at #PandoraSXSW satisfies your dance-buds!
