As Pandora’s music curator, my main job is to select the music that goes into Pandora. I’m constantly listening to new bands, researching genres for back catalog, reading books, and searching high and low for music that looks and sounds like it’s worth discovering.
There’s so much music here, though, that I sometimes lose track of the records I selected, even if it was something I was really dying to hear! They come in to the office, get analyzed, and sneak into the library stacks before I can snag ’em. Sad, I know.
So, in the spirit of trying to catch the ones that got away, I want to know what you listeners have discovered, rediscovered, or have just been listening to in Pandora.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it: list your top 3 Pandora discoveries, and what station led you to them.
Mine are:
ChicoBuarque.jpg
Chico Buarque (first heard on Caetano Veloso Radio)

MotherMallard.jpg
Mother Mallard’s Portable Masterpiece Co. (first heard on Brian Eno Radio, I think)
RayWylieHubbard.JPG
Ray Wylie Hubbard (first heard on Tom Heyman Radio)
(And just for fun, here’s a station from my top 3 discoveries: Chico’s Mallard: Wylie Radio.
best,
mz
ps – thanks to everyone who suggested names a while back. We have a winner! Thanks to Dom for the clear, concise and to-the-point “Play, Listen, Repeat.”

Three of the many artists that I have discovered on Pandora are: Scout Niblett (I ordered two albums; one arrived today!): she was most likely discovered on Mary Timony Radio. At least that where she is now. Songs:Ohia (I ordered one album so far; Coxcomb Red is an amazing song): I think he came off of Devendra Banhart Radio or maybe Joanna Newsom. Regina Spektor (This was one of the first artists I found on here; I heard That Time and just about died; 1 album owned now): I believe she appeared on my Mary Timony station or perhaps Bjork. I find that I like about 3 out of every 4 songs at this point. And I'm pretty picky and specific. So thanks.

Wow ! It's been a great time since a started listening to Pandora ! Here are my 3 "discoveries". - The song "Preciso Dizer Que Te Amo", by Bebel Gilberto and Cazuza. A great, simple, powerful, romantic, acoustic song. - Celso Fonseca, a new bossa nova guitarist and singer. - Rodrigo y Gabriela, a Mexican acoustic guitar duo playing some dirty rock music (try their acoustic version of Orion by Metallica). And thanks for the other discoveries (past and to come) !

Oh so many bands and artists discovered! Most recently, Kimya Dawson. She has the most adorable voice. Found on Insect Eyes Radio, I think. Miranda Sex Garden, their album Madras. It's beautiful...old english folk/opera/whatever. So good for unwinding after a long day! My favorite discovery as of recently, Because (Love Version) by the Beatles. One of my favorite Beatles songs already, but upon hearing the version from Love, I've fallen into it again. Beautiful. Those last two were from Hide and Seek Radio.

I really hope you're gonna read this. If you really like Caetano Veloso and Chico Buarque, try to listen to Tom Jobim too. He was a brazilian genius and was responsible for the great boom of Bossa Nova throughout the globe. If you don't know him, give it a try, you'll probably like it!

all artists come from my "main" station, radio w.t.z - http://www.pandora.com/stations/9caf23038d39ad6b8a1e904b5dddeb47ee56ad17f84d5fe3 1) bonobo - smart downtempo / chillout 2) susumu yokota - japanese experimental ambient / electronica 3) nuspirit helsinki - contemplative finnish nu-jazz 4) deadly avenger - like a superb soundtrack to a film - cinematic might be the right word. many thanks for these and others, also many "re-discovered" (specially on my friends' stations), as this seems to be often one of the main benefits.
