What better to follow a Day of Silence than a style of music that is very, very loud?

Our latest episode tears into the meaty flesh of that beast known as the Guitar Riff. Guitar virtuoso and shredder extraordinaire Will Redmond looks at the different riff styles of many great bands: Led Zeppelin (chromaticism), AC/DC (anticipation and space), Tool (muted strumming), Black Sabbath (patience and pull), and more.
Will and I also show the “power chord,” and question why a power chord is neither major nor minor. ‘Tis a coy one, that power chord.
To achieve the full riff experience, check out the song clips of Richards, Van Halen, Morello, Malakian et al on the Episode 15 page. To see all of the shows we’ve had so far, peruse the main podcast page.
Rock out with your block out,
Kevin

I was soooo bored at work yesterday during your day of silence. I thought I was going to lose it. What would I do without you?

I got a busy signal on your protest day so I immediately wrote to my two Senators and my Congressman. I live in Michigan. My letters were sent to Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow and to Congressman Sander Levin. Thanks for this great station. Patrick Degens

So I have not purchased music in a very long time. Pandora has helped me find new music that I have purchased off I tunes at a dollar a song. I think this is quite impressive because without pandora, I would of never purchased those songs........EVER

Call your congressman? What if she's female? Anyway, I'm not going to bother. I have nothing but neo-Nazis "representing" me, and these days, even the Democrats are near-total sellouts who only represent their corporate sponsors.
