HI Y'ALL. I'M A DJ HERE IN AMARILLO, TEXAS. I PLAY CLASSIC COUNTRY AND WESTERN SWING. WE HAD A GREAT CLASSIC COUNTRY AM RADIO STATION HERE UNTIL THE 1ST OF THE YEAR AND IT SOLD (TO A CHURCH). I HAD 3 PROGRAMS A WEEK ON IT. WHEN WE WENT OFF THE AIR I DIDN'T WANT TO GIVE UP THE MUSIC. I'VE ALWAYS LOVED THESE TWO GENRES. SO I BOUGHT PEAVEY EQUIPMENT AND STARTED DJ'ING FOR PARTIES AND DANCES. I LOVE IT. IN CASE YOU EVER GET TO AMARILLO GIVE ME A CALL AND I'LL BE GLAD TO SHOW YOU OUR GREAT CLASSIC COUNTRY MUSIC SCENE. SHOULD YOU EVER BE AROUND CENTRAL TEXAS (JACKSBORO) BE SURE AND LOOK UP JOE PAUL NICHOLS, HE SINGS GREAT CLASSIC COUNTRY AND HAS SEVERAL CD'S OUT. I USE HIS MUSIC A LOT. JODY NIX OUT OF SWEETWATER IS ANOTHER GREAT. I HAVE ALL OF HIS MUSIC ON CD. HIS FATHER WAS THE LEGENDARY HOYLE NIX WHO PLAYED FIDDLE FOR BOB WILLS AND WROTE THE GREAT HIT "BIG BALLS IN COWTOWN". ONE OF AMARILLO'S GREAT CLASSIC COUNTRY MUSICIANS IS EARL WHITT, HE SINGS, PLAYS GUITAR AND A MEAN FIDDLE. HE ALSO PLAYS WITH A BAND CALLED (WHAT ELSE??) "CLASSIC COUNTRY". EARL ALSO GOES SOLO WITH HIS MUSIC AND USES TRACKS OFF CASSETTES. HE PLAYS AT THE VFW CLUB ON WED. & FRI. NIGHTS. I USUALLY PLAY THERE ONCE A MONTH ON A SAT. WELL I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT CLASSIC COUNTRY BUT, I'LL STOP FOR NOW AND LET YOU DIGEST ALL OF THIS. THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT SITE. I LOVE TO LISTEN TO IT WHEN I'M PLAYING ON THE COMPUTER. I USE A COMPUTER FOR MY MUSIC BUT, I ONLY HAVE A LITTLE OVER THIRTY FOUR HUNDRED SONGS IN IT. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND LETS HERE SOME JODY NIX, JOE PAUL NICHOLS, BOBBY TORRES AND JAKE HOOKER ON PANDORA.!!!!! BEST WISHES. LIZ WHITFIELD AMARILLO, TEXAS

I was a drummer in Amarillo during the 1960's and traveled to Dallas during the summer of 1962 with a friend, Steve Mathews, to play with a band there. We played six nights a week at the Colonial Club in Grand Praire. I've tried to remember the singer's name in vain. He was a Dallas resident and his first name was Paul. Paul's lead guitarist was named Clark and I don't remember his last name either. Paul was heavy-set and the band played mostly rhythm and blues.I don't know if he's still around but I'd sure like to know. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreicated.
