Wild Yaks :: Concert Videos :: Vol. 30
This Brooklyn band chose "Boyhood
Forever" as its motto, and it's an apt
declaration of intent. Their four
rehearsal-studio jams linked here
are sleds going down an icy slope
too fast. Or boxcar derby smash-ups.
One female critic (Maud) gushed: "I
want to listen to their music because
it's masculine and not at all pretentious
and they're so into it and their glasses
slide off their noses and their shorts
are too short."
"Tomahawk"
"Whip"

Pandora now allows you only 40 hours of looking and listening to their revenue generating ads.
If you want more than 40 hours of ads, you can pay to receive unlimited ads, only 99 cents.
This is genius, start a station with no ads to make it popular. Then start slipping in ads. Then start charging to listen to those ads.
Pandora is so far away from the the great thing that once was. Now it's just another internet scam.
Congrats on effectively alienating the few that were hanging on after starting the ad program. Now that you want to charge, we will all just change stations.
Bye Pandora, it was fun. Sorry to see you change. Good luck.

rodger,
1) wrong post
2) do you think people work for free? do you not appreciate the work that has been put into making pandora what it is? I'd say this revolutionary service is worth at least $1/month.
3) There aren't that many ads.

Way to go Wild Yaks!

Thanks, Blayne...
Glad you're enjoying the Wild Yaks -- such fun, rowdy and debaucherous music.

I was wondering if Pandora could keep a list of the songs we put a "Thumbs Up" on so that we can go back later and buy them. When I listen at work, I can't take time to go buy songs. I just maximize the Pandora window and put a "Thumbs Up" on the thing. Anyways, just curious. Thanks again!

Wild Yaks are awesome! Soo great!

RAD BAND! NO LABEL? NO WEBSITE? WHERE DO THEY LIVE AND BREATH?
Posted by: stonerbone421 at July 15, 2009 02:47 PM
@Clark -- The best way to do that is with Bookmarks. Bookmark any song, then at the end of the week, you can go and buy all of those songs at once. Here's more information on that:
@stonerbone421 -- Great band, right? No label, totally independent. They live and breathe in Brooklyn.
Posted by: Kevin Seal at July 15, 2009 02:58 PM
Love the song "Tomahawk." Definately brings a new band that has a catchy sound along with somewhat nonsensical lyrics.

THANKS FOR GIVING US A WONDERFUL WAY TO BE INTORDUCED TO DIFFERENT ARTISTS THAT WE MAY HAVE NOT HEARD OF AND LIKING MUSIC LOVERS ALL OVER THE U.S AND THE WORLD. GREAT IDEA! GLAD YOU GUYS GOT THE BULL BY THE HORNS AND ACTUALLY MADE IT A REALITY. MUCH LOVE AND APPRECIATION.

Pay per listen? Huh. I don't think so. You can delete my stations, I won't be back. Oh wait, you worked hard to provide this free music? Well why didn't you say so! Hey, who twisted your arm, pal? Go ahead and delete my account, you never served as anything more than a way to drown out my annoying co workers without distracting me from my work.
Good bye, and good luck.

first day on PANDORA; so this free stream of 'music' is in one track mono? or where is the stereo? I am getting half the MUSIC
Posted by: magnusonart at July 18, 2009 09:22 AM
Wait a moment while I pick my jaw back up off of the floor. I am so blown by this group. Since I live in the middle of nowhere in Idaho, I will have to follow them on the web until they get signed. Thanks so much for finding them.

Well, there it is. I have ante'd up my 99 cents & can have more ear candy (I've ante'd more for a bad poker hand). Sigh. & how does Pandora reward me? Huh? Huh? Only by playing Snookey Pryor, Blyther Smith, Canned Heat, Gwyn Ashton, & Christy Moore! Durned their flea-bitten hides. Lawd, There's Mark Knopfler! Gawd I love this Music Genome Project thang! Worth the Ninety & nine any time!

Wups, I posted to the wrong Blog. Please forgive my slip. But, even on this page, Ninetynine is OK!!
(I'da paid twice that for L. Bloom, whom I'm listening to now.)
Posted by: Toemoss at July 20, 2009 02:45 PM
Saw Wild Yaks a while back and they are awesome! Cannot wait to see them live again.
Posted by: Tami at July 21, 2009 03:47 PM
I COULD spend the 99 cents and give these characters my credit card information, or I could just go elsewhere that wont limit me.
See Pandora users at $h0utcast
Peace

I'm happy to pay the .99 to use this wonderful service for the rest of the month. But you only give me one payment option and I'll be darned if I'm going to put .99 on my credit card that's through a bank that's already ripping and gouging me at every turn! Why don't you join the rest of civilized world and offer Paypal as a means of payment?
Posted by: Ken at July 25, 2009 10:43 AM
Good music, especially angel eyes. keep it up wild yaks.
Posted by: Dave at July 25, 2009 08:15 PM
I thought that the service was indeed free (if I used less than 40 Hours per wk). I was carefull to turn the system off when out of office & was out of town much of the week for a few wks running. Why am I asked for money then? I was told that the basic service was "FREE". I understand royalties & i understand the advertizing angle. I put up with the ads & used the music & did appreciate the service. If I want "Ad-Free" play: I understand that I can choose to pay. Explain if you are able.
THANKS
If someone wants to answer me; great.

I can't find my post, so I'm trying again... sorry if I'm doing this unnecessarily! Okay- so I'm thinking about upgrading to a year's subscription, but is the subscription tied to your account or to the computer? Thanks for your help :).

@Mimi -- Tied to the account, so you can use it on a number of different computers.

Nothing against this band, but why does Pandora recognize them and not recogize Ghosts On the Radio????

Being stationed overseas for 4 years now I was ecstatic when Pandora finally allowed listeners from IPs that are overseas a couple months ago, but now that the iPhone has an app I run into the same out of area issue I had with the site a year ago

In the 50's and early 60's, all we had was 45rpm records. There were a lot of "flip side" songs that never got played. Pandora is allowing me to hear songs from that era that I never knew existed. Is there any way to get this music on some form that can be played in my vehicle?
Your web site is the most entertaining by far.
Thank you
