I know the Pandora staff is fortunate enough to have live performances at the Pandora offices. Have you considered holding some of your town hall meetings in conjunction with shows when you're on the road? It might be a great chance to further promote local artists who have music available on Pandora.com.
I'm in the bay area, so I get to some of your silicon valley events. If they were combined with some performances by local artists I'd be even more motivated to attend them and excited by them.
I know there are all kinds of other considerations in expanding your town hall meetings to include performances, so I understand it might not be feasible, but I thought I'd put the idea out there anyway.

See you there Tim. How about creating a special station for Michael Jackson?

The frustrated editor in me just needs to ask-
where do I send notice to when I find an error in the spelling of an album title, or song title, or artist's name? I have found all three this morning- two on the same song! Simple things like "piece" instead of "peace", that would hinder others from finding what they are looking for.

Heard about Pandora at a school district inservice. I'll use Pandora when I get my 5th graders out of their seats for a "music stretch" and when I play soft classical background music for independent math time. I was VERY impressed at the simplicity of choosing stations and the cohesiveness of music with genres. Thanks for making something useful and FREE that I can use in my classroom!

any chance this town hall will be recorded and later posted on the blog?

Is there any charge to assist to the event, invitation only or anyone is welcome? Im a student at the Commonwealth University, and a Pandora user so I'll probably gonna be there anyway...

Pandora is a great idea, adding ads was a horrible idea! If you are to play only what I want to hear than why do I have to listen to ads?

Thanks again for coming to Richmond. I had a great time hearing all about Pandora and listening to you answer all of our questions.
I'm a Pandora One customer and I love it. How else can I help Pandora survive and thrive?
I'll be making all my many Amazon purchases through Pandora from now on :)
Also thanks for the T-Shirt and dinner. What a deal.
PANDORA RULES!

Can't make it to Richmond, but I wanted to make a suggestion - when a song is presented as being "on" an album, it is regularly shown as being on a compilation. I get that from a commercial perspective ("Hey, I forgot how much I love ! Wow! look at all the songs I love by ! I should buy this!").
That said, I would tell you that I find my 'genome' to be relatively album-centric/period centric. I want old U2/Who/etc. So, I am rarely looking for the compilation, I want to see the original album and would strongly consider buying it or songs off of it.
My suggestion: Show both, if possible: "We will rock you" is on Queen's Greatest Hits (probably all of them) and 'News of the World', even if it is just a link.
Thanks for an awesome product, Pandora!!

The town hall was great! Thanks for the awesome shirt, the info, the chance to speak to you, the burrito, and of course access to great music. I learned that I have been listening to Pandora almost since the day It became the site it is today. I also learned the I saved the Pandora from bankruptcy... me and about 4 million other Pandora listeners.

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET RID OF AN ARTIST FROM A STATION ALL TOGETHER SO I WOULDNT HAVE TO LISTEN TO A BAND THAT I DESPISE EVERYTIME YOU THINK THEY SOUND LIKE MY FAVORITE BAND, WICH THEY DONT AT ALL.OTHER THAN THAT I LOVE IT. JUST A THOUGHT.
Posted by: CANAAN at July 1, 2009 09:29 AM
I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE NICE TO DELETE ANY ARTIST FROM YOUR LIKED STATION SO YOU DONT HAVE TO WASTE YOUR THUMBS DOWN ON THEM.I LOVE PANDORA BUT I HATE WHEN YOU PLAY ARTIST THAT DONT MATCH.

I love, love, love my Pandora Radio! I have an MP3 player, but it is different when you hear a song you weren't expecting. I have always said your favorite song sounds better when you hear it on the radio because it is a surprise! It blows me away how my Pandora reads my mind. You did a great job with this project.

Hi!
I dont really get the difference between the private RSS feed and the regular one.
Even if I marked some of my bookmarked to be private, they are showing up in the regular RSS feed. Is it supposed to be that way?
And what is the private feed supposed to do? Is it supposed to include all private bookmarks?
Thanks,
Christine

As perhaps one of your most "senior" listeners, let me just say that I was introduced to Pandora by my daughter and I am so glad that she did! I absolutely love it and am playing it all the time at my office. So far, it's been one of the best "perks" of parenthood! Keep up the great work!

Will you all have one here in ye old bay area? We at Rabbit Bites would like to chat.
Posted by: Nicholas Quixote at July 3, 2009 09:05 PM
jim - We try and display a currently in-print CD by the artist who performs that song whenever possible. If we show a compilation it's usually because the original CD we have is no longer in print. Often Amazon will have used copies and re-releases so it's is worth checking that too.

Hi,
I have been using Pandora for over a year and can anyone tell me if they're expiriencing this as well? I can skip about five songs and then an ad plays and I go to a different station and can only play one song. This never happened before?

Your 84 year old friend for life. no pun intended.

Pandora is revolutionary in terms of business model and re-inventing the way we listen to music. I have gone and gotten a paid version of the site as it is a small token to pay for a great experience. I have it on all day while working on my blogs. Thanks again

Great job Tim! I truly appreciate your efforts, I love music and (hence) radio! Thanks again, keep up the good work :)

It would be really good if this is recorded and
added to the blog. No one misses out that way.

Ok i have no idea how to contact you guys WTF! i have seen so many songs with the wrong artist, how can we let you know so you can correct it? i mean some are wayyyyyyyyyy off

I really like the new desktop app and the other benefits on Pandora One, but the desktop app would be much more useful with a couple of additions:
We need the two-song history like the webpage version. If I forget to thumbs up or thumbs-down the current song before it finishes, there's no way to rate the song - it's just gone.
This problem is exacerbated by the fact that there is no progress bar on the app.
Also, with the desktop app we lose the artist/song/lyrics info pages.
Instead of making the app bigger, the history could be added in a collapsible tab to the left. Info could be in a tab to the right. The progress bar ought to go just under the album art as it is now on the web app, but with black and dark gray to match the (excellent) theme of the desktop app.
Thanks for all your work so far! Pandora has made my tedious job much more livable. :)

It seems to me Pandora started to SUCK lately. What is up with the commercials?? Did I pick Pandora instead of a billion other music providers cause they were "inovative"? Don't delude your self. Oh and F*** you for dropping the number of songs you can skip, I mean again, if you had an actually good algorithm for music picking working I wouldnt need to skip shit. Anyway, I'm gonna stop wasting my time on you. F*** you again Pandora. I'll come back in a few months, see if you still SUCK.
