Deerhoof :: Concert Videos :: Vol. 27
While being one of the most imaginative and inventive groups mining the rock idiom, Deerhoof is also one of the most prolific. 10 albums in a dozen years is a considerable feat. In this series co-presented with the Bay Bridged and New, Improved Recording, Deerhoof explores songs from Milk Man and Holdypaws, and exhumes a 1967 film score composition by Mikis Theodorakis.
This four-parter gives us a rare look at true recording-studio workmanship as well, as the N,IR crew works with drummer Greg Saunier and the rest of Deerhoof to dial in their signature tones.

hijack: I really loved Pandora the first time I signed on, but today all of my stations have started over from zero, with a lot of 'pollutants'--for example, my Crosby, Stills, Nash station has Beatles, Guess Who, America, Jackson Brown and a bunch of other stuff--fine artists, but I wanted to listen to CS&N, not the other stuff. The algorhythm isn't listening . . . .

Well I have to Thank Pandora for creating an awareness for Deerhoff. I definitely won't learn about good new music from commercial crap radio.

Nice post.Thanks.

@Laraine -- any station on Pandora will have the music from multiple artists. A Crosby, Stills & Nash station will play not only music by the three of them, but music that is of a similar musicological quality.
@Vic and @others -- I'm glad you're enjoying the Deerhoof! Those guys have a huge international following at this point, but true, they don't get played on terrestrial radio much, aside from college stations.

I listen to Pandora all day at work and what I listen to depends on what is going on. I am a child of the late 60's and and find songs I have missed for years. You do great work and I music pleasure is greatly satisfied. Thank you

Just curious, how do the artists get paid for the use of their music on Pandora? Love it BTW!!
Posted by: Tina at July 2, 2009 09:44 PM
@Tina -- Artists get performance royalties for every song that is played on Pandora. We report to the performance rights agencies like ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and SoundExchange, and pay for what we play. We also pay a sizable percentage of our revenue to the record labels.
We hope, though, that you also click through to buy songs and albums from iTunes and Amazon. Enjoy!

For new and relatively unknown artist this is best platform to showcase their talent and get paid too;)
