...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead :: Concert Videos :: Vol. 23

trail of deadSome bands cherish volume and distortion as compositional elements,
and ...Trail of Dead (aka AYWKUBTTOD) is one of those bands. These Austin natives brought the hammer down with their performance at the Pandora office, and bruised the walls with their heavy, epic,
mountain-shaking, occasionally Tolkienesque rock.

Be prepared to have your hair blown back and your ears pinned to your skull. These guys are LOUD.

"Isis Unveiled"

"Far Pavilions"

"Fields of Coal"

"Bells of Creation"

The 'G.Gershwin' _branch_ to all his classical counterparts is wonderful ! ... but where is the _branch_ to all of his show tunes / popular compositions / performances, the intermediate works (eg. the piano rolls)? ?

I was presented a comparable problem with "Cole Porter" - links to comparable (subsequent / imitative) performances - but none of his original compositions nor of artists' original performances.

Both searches seem to point to need for SEARCH by |composer|, eh?.

interesting music, just when i thought nine inch nails and slayer are loud enough. i have to listen to them. how do you classify their music?

Posted by: Moreh at May 29, 2009 09:53 PM

Loud is right. I had to turn my stereo down!

Is there a way to filter out music or albums with explicit warning on them?

Posted by: Rae at June 1, 2009 08:11 PM

art rock.

Posted by: oyun at June 3, 2009 01:23 PM

@Moreh: art rock is a good call (thanks, Oyun). indie rock? noise rock? epic punk? prog-punk? i'm not great at genre labels (not a big fan of such labels, either).

@Rae: there is a way to turn off explicit content, yes. at the top of the main Pandora listening page, click "Account," which opens a screen with an "allow explicit content?" question at the bottom. say no, and anything explicit will be kept off.

People come up with some creepy names for their bands.

Come See My Dead Person is at Houston's Scout Bar on 8-14-09 and they're kind of Gypsy Rock (?) using a horde of unusual instruments along with the usual rock band fare.
Sure, the name sounds morbid, but the sound of the music is pleasing and difficult to categorize. They are regulars on the scene in the Southeast Texas scene, and put on quite a show.
