Fishbone :: Concert Videos :: Vol. 19

fishbone

Angelo Moore and Norwood Fisher have been making
music together since they were 14 years old. They spoke
with us about the Fishbone approach, and the ways in
which these longtime collaborators have continued to
re-invent their sound.

In these four Pandora videos, we caught the band at a
Halloween show in Santa Cruz, CA, and they blew the
house apart as they always do.

"Party At Ground Zero"

"Freddie's Dead"

"Everyday Sunshine"

"Ma and Pa"

Great. Now how about whipping up an App for the Android market....

Posted by: Anthony at April 7, 2009 02:28 PM

Did you guys do an interview by any chance? I would love to learn more about the people behind the music.

Posted by: Marc Norris at April 7, 2009 03:46 PM

Hi, Marc,

We did -- each song begins with an interview featuring Angelo and Norwood.

Pandora is a great service - thanks guys. It would be interesting to see an addition to the FAQ that describes why all Windows mobile handsets are not supported given a particular mobile data capability such as 3G or EDGE. What makes Pandora device specific? I have an AT&T Htc Tilt (3G Windows Mobile 6.1) and an older AT&T (Cingular) Htc 3125 (EDGE Windows Mobile 5.0). Will Pandora be offered on these handsets?

I LOVE Pandora and everything it offers. I've been a fan for 3 years now and just downloaded the app to my Blackberry...LOVIN IT!!! I'd lost my iPod and just can't justify buying another one right now and this is the perfect solution for me. I really appreciate all of the efforts behind making Pandora what it is and I pray you guys NEVER go away.

Keep up the fantastic work!!

"We will be notifying listeners as licensing agreements are established in individual countries. If you would like to be notified by email when Pandora is available in your country, please enter your email address below. The pace of global licensing is hard to predict, but we have the ultimate goal of being able to offer our service everywhere."

That was in 2007 - almost 2 years ago now. I haven't seen any post updating this. Is this even being worked on anymore?

Posted by: J from Canada at April 9, 2009 12:37 PM

Hey, thanks guys!

@ J from Canada -- We are indeed still working on it, but these international agreements can be rather glacial in their pace. Progress continues, but it takes a long time. The reason that Pandora is able to operate in the USA is due to the Digital Millenium Copyright Act, and other countries do not have such legislation that applies to all record labels operating within the territory.

Anyhow, please stay tuned, thanks for your patience, and yes, we are still working toward Canadian availability.

@Anna Lee: To what fees are you referring? Pandora is a free service, supported by advertisers. If you're talking about the subscription, which costs $36 per year to avoid seeing or hearing any advertising, here is more information about that:

Posted by: Kevin Seal at April 13, 2009 02:46 PM

yes i love these apps

Posted by: selby at April 13, 2009 07:52 PM

After recently downloading the Pandora application for my blackberry bold, it was obvious that pandora was much better than other internet radio's. The sound is much clearer, and for some reason music just sounds better on pandora. The biggest thing for me though was there was no lag between songs as is common among other internet radios. This was especially suprising for me because I was in a low service non 3G area. I typed in an artist I liked and Pandora continually matched great songs from then out. I think I went through 15 songs without having to skip. Its like they knew exactly what I wanted to hear. Bravo!!

Not a band band, but I prefer more of the ska types of the 1980s, including the Chicago area band Skayfish.
