New videos: Von Iva

Von IvaFrontwoman Jillian Iva named this power trio after her grandmother: Von Iva. It's a striking name, and one that calls to mind a Nordic warrior princess.

Given their stiletto-heeled, punch-to-the-nose, broadsword-and-leather sound, that's a fitting association. Von Iva's music is a brash smashup of stomping soul, disco glamour, synthpop and fiercely swaggering rock. Here are four of their songs recorded live at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco:

"Birds of Prey"

"Lala"

"Emerald Eyes"

"Guise"

Is there a Pandora store? I owe Pandora so much, it's helped me find all my current favorite music and tons of artists I would have never even known about, I honestly don't know where I would be without it. I would love to buy some T-shirts and other apparel to help spread the word. If there isn't a store yet, need a volunteer to put together some concept designs?

Very cool. Finding new and different bands is a passion of mine and my husband. We own our weight just about in concert tickets. We travel around the world and take a lot of joy in seeing new bands. Everything from Hard to Easy Listening.

I have know a few of the top but not finishers of the American Idol deal.

I have a connection with a young lady that might be one of the next up and coming country artist.

She might know about this site already but if she does not I am going to turn her on to it.

Another very cool deal like eyejot.

David keep up the work!

Hey guys, I understand you're considering putting advertising up.

If you do that, I will quit listening immediately, and so will a large number of your other listeners. There are literally tens of thousands of alternatives out there.

Pandora's been OK but overall I'd just prefer to listen to a playlist composed of MP3s, and I'm sure most people and establishments feel likewise. Many coffeeshops and restaurants in this area use Pandora and I'm sure they will also be switching to some other service.

Commercials are so 1996.

I write an article called "Tech Hero" and love the Pandora experience so much I wrote about it in our free online site: www.valleytrends.com. Check out the latest Tech Hero (it's under the Departments menu) and you'll see the article around mid-February. I also posted the article to helium.com in the "Best Streaming Music" category. The ability to hear new bands is something I did not know about until I saw this blog post. Thanks for making Pandora a truly great experience.
Cheers!

I'd like to be able to listen in background while working on other matters, but Pandora cuts out when I try to do anything else. How can I keep this from happening?

Hi, Jeff,

Unfortunately, no, there's no Pandora store, but we do have some stickers and buttons and posters -- want some?

Hi, Woeg,

Good luck with your listening. One quick audio ad every few hours amounts to less than 1/900th (one-nine-hundredth) of your listening experience. It costs us a lot of money to provide this service, and running these commercials helps us cover our costs.

Hi, Michael,

Thanks for the write-up, eh! Happy to see it.

Hi, S.Z.,

I recommended opening Pandora in a separate browser window, and then keep that separate window running in the background. It sounds like you're running it on a tab. I hope that works -- let me know if it doesn't.

I agree with Jeff Pandora is awesome and I am more than willing to listen to a commercial every now and then to support them. I would by a tshirt too =]

Whoever that dude is with the disdained comment about having one commercial, which last about 3 seconds, every like 2 hours is just a jerk and who needs you to listen then anyways. I think this is a wonderful website and to do it all for free is great. Hey everyone needs to be paid...cut a little slack or please get a life!!
