I dont know where else to post this but I just wanted to make u aware of the discrepancy between Pimp C music and the "About This Artist" section. They are incorrect.

What are your thoughts on some sort of addition to the website for lyrics of the current song playing?

never mind , i just played the video and u explained it there, then , just using the tombs up and down is enough to tell Pandora what to play?. So what are the bookmarks for?

Can you add a Latin Jazz genre station?
Posted by: Maria at October 17, 2008 10:36 AM
not sure where to put this either, but i was just wondering if there was an ETA for when the blackberry from at&t is going to be added to the mobile list...pandora is amazing, ive been using it from the beginning and can't wait to have it on my phone 24/7. sorry to hear about the downsize, ouch that word just hurts, but times are tough.

My attributes vs yours:
Your business model is to try to use the 400 "attributes" of the songs that I like to suggest others. But your attributes are not working for me. If I love Leonard Cohen's "Ballad to an Absent Mare" it is NOT because it is "country", "guitar", and in a "minor key". Your set of attributes is not matching mine. So I look at your competitors and don't use you as much as I could.
Why not try to work with my preferences?
1) Give me a screen with all 400 attributes and let me create a station where I score them from -3 to +3. And create multiple stations where I can work with different sets of preferences to match my multiple moods.
2) After that gets debugged, let me create my own attributes to add to the list for my own use, 2a) and then let me rate songs using my set of attributes beyond just thumbs up or down.
3) You watch all the new attributes you are getting from your users for commonalities that would let you add some of your users' preferences to your list.
I don't think the programming for #1 would be all that difficult, and it would be easy to add it to the user profile.

I just have to say how much I love pandora and all of the amazing music I have discovered in the short weeks I have spent on it. One thing that would be neat is to make it communicate with google talk to display the current music track. Other than that it is perfect

PLEASE ADD THE BLACKBERRY CURVE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE I RECENTLY SWITCHED PHONES AND IT IS KILLING ME.
Posted by: J at October 20, 2008 11:47 AM
@Nancy -- I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying the music, and I hope your medical conditions improve.
@Jeff Clark -- I will check out the Pimp C profile page. This is the profile here, right?
http://www.pandora.com/music/artist/pimp+c
@Will Law -- We've been working on having lyrics on here for a few years now, and will continue to do so. Getting the rights and clearances for re-printing lyrics is very difficult, as it turns out. There are many illegal sites that post lyrics, but we will only work with a legal, sanctioned, and artist-approved service.
@Morphita -- The Bookmarks help you remember songs that you've liked. Those Bookmarks also make it easier for you to go back and buy a bunch of songs at once from iTunes or Amazon.
@J and Matt -- Blackberry integration and other mobile device integration are in progress. We want to be on all platforms, and are working to be there. We will keep you posted as progress continues.
@tjc68 -- Interesting ideas, definitely. We have talked about opening up the Genome a bit, but at this point the playlists are much better to just rely on the thumbs to keep the interface and interaction cleaner and easier for everyone. Thanks for listening, though, and email me (kevin at pandora) for advice on how to get that Leonard Cohen station humming just right (I have one myself).

How can i take Obamas picture off my computer im trying to get away from the politics, thats at least what i was trying to do when i went to pandora today.

Thank you guys so much for such an awesome project. I heard about you a year ago thru word of mouth and have been listening ever since. I would love it if you would create a gadget for the windows Vista sidebar. The tilt out menu could show our station profile we create on the internet.
Second as a Spirit filled Christian I would love to see a station dedicated to praise and worship junkies. There are thousands of us. It would be nice to be able to choose from high praise to sweet adoration worship. There is a huge untapped resource out there from Vineyard music, Maranatha music, MorningStar music, and Integrity music.

I think this radio station is such a great idea, but I wish that you guys could apply the genome aspect of it more instead of just an internet radio station (because the genome aspect is what stands out about Pandora). What I mean is that Pandora introducers listeners to other very different kinds of music genres that have similar beats. By sticking to the same kind of music that the listener would've listened to anyway, it detracts from the genome aspect of it. Otherwise, great job guys! Keep it up!
Posted by: Audrey at October 25, 2008 5:10 PM
how does one get their music in the pandora catalog?
Posted by: matt at October 26, 2008 9:47 AM
Hi, Audrey,
I'm not sure that I understand -- we recommend songs based on their genomic similarity. What other aspects of the genome are you not seeing that you would like to?
Hi, Matt,
Here is how you can submit new music to the Pandora catalog:

I'm currently trying to create a station based on cello music and finding it very difficult. The big problem is, I don't know many songs to add, I just know that I recently discovered Zoe Keating and want other like her, but not for their rhythmic qualities, I like the cello.
Posted by: Tina at October 26, 2008 5:27 PM
Could you add Last.fm so I will be able to scrobble the tracks I listen to on Pandora to my Last.fm profile?
Posted by: Alex S. at October 27, 2008 8:42 AM
A suggestion: add Lala.com to your list of music-buying links. Their site seems like a natural complement to yours and it's where I go to get music that I hear here.
Sorry for plugging another site on your blog; I just didn't know where else to put a suggestion.
Posted by: Frank at October 27, 2008 9:29 AM
Dig the interface, but i would like the button that will close a window to wink at me at each step that I take in that window if said window has popped up over another e.g. "create a new station"...thanks
Also, my bands ep is on itunes and amazon but not here... por que?
Posted by: ology at October 27, 2008 8:38 PM
oh and...
I agree with Alex S.... lala is a site worth taking a look at. my favorite of all the sites we are on, fer shur!
Posted by: ology at October 27, 2008 9:26 PM
actually, you guys should team up with lala because they've got some slick stuff but their categorization is severely lacking
Posted by: ology at October 27, 2008 9:34 PM
Hi, Ology,
We work directly with artists, not through iTunes or Amazon, so if you would like to submit your band for potential play on Pandora, check out the following notes on how to do it:
http://blog.pandora.com/faq/#31
Could you re-explain your button request? I'm not understanding what you are asking for. Thanks.
Hi, Tina,
You might have better luck building a cello station by seeding it with specific Zoe Keating pieces, not with her artist seed. Here are several individual tracks from which you might begin:

How can we get more variation in the music played on a particular station? Repeats typically start after about an hour. This morning, I got about 10 consecutive repeats.
Thanks,
Posted by: Jeffrey at October 29, 2008 9:38 AM
My comment is more to the listerns/users of Pandora: Since the service is ad supported, you/we need to click on the ads!!! And do more than click and click back. Interact with whatever stuff is being promote. Go to the Microsite or other destination. Whatever you do, increase the ads CTRs!
Posted by: Bill Hanekamp at October 29, 2008 1:39 PM
Why do I get so many live versions of songs? As a general rule, I don't like live versions of songs, but I'm afraid that if I give a thumbs down to a live version, I'll never get the made-for-radio version. Can you offer any suggestions?
Thank you.
Posted by: Jeremi at October 30, 2008 4:04 AM
Hi, Jeffrey,
For greater variation and less repetition, I recommend adding a few new seeds to it. Here is how you can do that:
http://blog.pandora.com/faq/#475
Definitely take advantage of your ability to have multiple stations, too. I have 98 stations on my account -- some of which are very similar to each other in their origins, but play much different choices -- and I rotate those stations in from day to day.
And Jeremi,
Live versions and studio versions are analyzed separately, so if you thumbs down a live version, it will not affect at all the behavior of the studio version on your station. If you want less live versions, there's no harm in thumbing down every live version that comes up.

I do adore Pandora and until recently was a religious 10 hours a day 5 days a week listener at work. However, now that the tolerance for inactivity has dove from shutting off after 3 or 4 hours to now every 3 or 4 songs, I find myself very frustrated with the site. I know all you need to do is click something on the page, but to do this every 15 minutes is not something I usually remember and an annoying, though brief, distraction from work. I have preached Pandora to everyone I know but now I'm even thinking about going elsewhere. Please tell me, it this a permanent change??
Posted by: Jessica at October 30, 2008 9:51 AM
Hi Jessica -
Thanks for your comment, and for listening to Pandora!
We did change the time out for free listeners to 1 hour. (it's 5 hours for paid subscribers.) If you're getting a time out every 3 songs, that's an error on our part. I will alert the support staff.
We'll get it fixed as soon as possible, and if you have any further problems, please do email pandora-support@pandora.com and we'll help you out the best we can.
Thanks so much for listening, and sorry for the inconvenience!
Best,
Lucia, with Pandora

WOW!! I just started dating this guy--we're in our 50's and I'm going to school for my bachelors and needed studying music; he told me about y'all and I am ecstatic!! You have done a wonderful job here!!
I guess in between studying; I will learn to get the most of it--but it is fantastic from the "get go". Thanks for your time and efforts!
Sorry you had to let go of some employees--the economy stinks right now. Please keep up the good work!
Sincerely,

ok Pandora is amazing but i have to say for a site that is about personality and tailoring to a persons unique style the profile layouts r a little bland i mean not even a profile pic or anyway to distinguish your self except through text!! sry maybe its just the little artist in me wanting to add a little color to things. i mean i'm not talking something as gaudy as a myspace page but mabey it could be worth looking in to?? pretty please:)

I have really enjoyed listening to the music available thru Pandora. Thank you! It seems that the political ads are all democratic. Is that because the Republicans have not tried to advertise or because you do not want them to advertise here?
Posted by: Missie at November 4, 2008 9:33 AM
I love pandora! I listen at work (mostly) to anything between Christian contemporary music to classic hard rock.
the only problem i am having is that recently (last month or so) after a few songs pandora seems to skip forward and it always seems to be during one of my favorite songs?
I really had no breaks in the music flow before. We just upgraded our internet service to fios from T1 lines. That should only make it better right?
Keep up the great work!

Hey guys,
Love the website, and I would LOVE to be able to listen on my new T-Mobile G1. Can we be expecting any apps for googles android market anytime soon? Love the music you recommend and look forward to listening on my new G1!

Missie -- Yeah, it's just because the Republicans didn't buy ads. We would gladly run any Republican ads as well.
Jake -- Stay tuned, as there are a number of apps in development as we speak. I don't have release dates or details, but work is underway on many fronts.
Karen -- I'm going to have pandora-support@pandora get in touch with you. It sounds like your connection should be plenty robust for it; they will be able to help you diagnose the problem and find a solution for it.
Connie and Arajz -- Thanks, eh! Welcome to Pandora, and very cool that you're enjoying what you're finding.

Thanks for your reply and to my satisfaction, I haven't had this problem nearly as much since my last post.
To be completely honest, I did go somewhere else for internet radio. It took me less than a day before I was back at Pandora... What can I say, I'm an addict!

you guys are so great...one of the few points of sanity in the world...i estimate that 80% of all that i see/hear is spam, so to be able to plug you in, go with the flow, and WORK, more importantly REALLY GET STUFF DONE is bliss...thanks guys...yeah times are gonna get tough but "if we all hang together, we maybe won't "most assuredly all hang separately" jimyc

I listen everyday and every minute at work (and whenever possible at home). But I do have one question... is it possible to say "I hate that band, never play ANY of their songs." It doesn't happen much but it does, and I know that I can click on "I don't like that song" and every three times it's gone, but how about the band?

I know I put this originally in the wrong place but, was hoping to get an ETA for rollout for blackberry support. I'm on AT&T right now and living off of XM when in the vehicle. Need to dump XM ASAP. They are going downhill with the merger and taking their subscribers with them. I want off of that ship ASAP but can't until you roll out BB support! Help me! I'm in XM hell! I love Pandora and want to get it out of the house with me and to the gym, etc.

Hey guys, Why is it a problem is I want to listen to only one artist on one of my channels? Sometimes all I want to hear is Eagles ! ! ! I mean they literally have 100's of songs. How could that be a problem? I mean "if" my interrest in music is what you really want! !

I spent one month bookmarking about 25 songs from Pandora radio stations. I then wanted to buy them from iTunes. I would have liked a way to buy all 25 bookmarked songs with one click. I had to download/purchase each one individually.
Posted by: Fritz at November 8, 2008 11:33 AM
extremely upset with the new format change where the music is shut off every 20 minutes until I can click "still listening." My station is set up for the office employees and we feel that Pandora has adopted a "harrassing" position of sorts. It is understandable that such a tool be used, but every 20 min.....come on!!!
I would hate to go back to listening to conventional radio after Pandora

I would like to listen to Pop Top 100 for various years. Or current Pop Top 40. I would also like to see/purchase kareoke versions. That may help others with the lyrics. I would love to see a comedy section, and we have a local radio guy named Gary Craig, it would be awesome to get his am show.
My son told me about this service and I love it.
Posted by: Dave at November 9, 2008 8:20 AM
Ric -- You can ban an artist, yes. This explains how to do that:
http://blog.pandora.com/faq/#82
Fritz -- You can buy multiple bookmarked songs at once. Here's how:
http://blog.pandora.com/faq/#65
Terry -- We're a free radio service, not an on-demand service, so our license only lets us play a certain number of songs by a given artist in any hour-long period. If you want to just listen to nothing but the Eagles, you're really best served by buying some Eagles albums; a free radio provider isn't the best option for that.
Dave -- Welcome to Pandora! Thanks to your son for recommending it to you, and glad you're here. I will send your suggestions to the development crew. Karaoke and comedy are interesting ideas.
