Studio Stories: Monster Island, NYC
You know that Katy Perry song, "I Kissed A Girl"? It's a recent chart-topper: "I kissed a girl and I liked it - the taste of her cherry chapstick." Anyway... we found ourselves recently at the studio where the musicians recorded that song. It's a place called Monster Island in Manhattan (yes, named for Godzilla's home).
Here is a quick video we shot with the owner/producer, Mike Caffrey. What sets Monster Island apart is that, in the style of Motown and the Funk Brothers, this studio has an in-house band that plays together in the same room to create that organic feel. In an age of digital manipulation, quantizing, and extreme sonic isolation, it's refreshing to find a place where bleed is encouraged. Check it out.
I kissed a girl and I liked it, I liked it,
Kevin

yeah, thanks a lot for this wonderful song!!! as a parent of teenage daughters, i can only hope many returns to you when y'all embark on the interesting challenge of trying to teach your young right from wrong. i'm sure it will only get 100% more challenging for you in the future, which is only fitting for such great pioneers as yourselves!
peace!

Hey, y'all. I'm sure you've thought about this already, but I notice that my stations, especially the really big ones with lots of seeds and thumbs, love to play my thumbed-up songs, day after day...after day...after day. The snooze feature helped tremendously with this, but I would love it if there were a "discovery mode", where I could have a station play only songs that I haven't given a thumbs up. That way I'm not hearing the same songs all the time. Thanks for your time!

Can I create a radio station that consists entirely of live music recorded from concerts? I'm not sure how because I am not looking for a particular song or artist, but live music. If so, how would i do that?

Hi everyone just let you know about a great new CD that is being sold independently and being heard in Korea without advertising! www.nathanmadsen.com Music For healing, very Brickmanesh, Winstonesh, piano, with something a little different.
Ever been to a brickman concert and seen Tracy Silverman break out of a Bricman lovesong into Led Zeplen? Nathan Madsen is a musical wonder when it comes to writing in different genres, he can write a Brickmanesh piano melody and then break out in an all out country music, or a big band swing! You'll love it, it's awesome! He must have a diffenet kind of groove if he's jiving with New Wave listners in Korea, the note heard around the world without any advertising! Check it out:

I'm not sure who reads these but, thought I would give it a shot. I love your web site although I have a major problem. I can go an hour listening to one station then it seems that the songs start to play again. I have went throught the songs that I have listened to and it seems that there are at least 6 different songs that I have listened to atleast 3 times.
Maybe you can work on fixing that.
Best regards,

Brittney -
Adding more seeds to your station will help with the diversity you hear.
Just add a few artists or songs you like, which will broaden the "playlist" for ya.
Enjoy!

I love Pandora and keep seeing ads to buy music - it seems like I can get the groups but not the songs, like Behind the Levee, by Citizen Cope, or Under My Thumb, by the Stones.
But the songs I want to buy seem to be restricted to MP-3 players and I cannot tell if I can download them here. What do you suggest?
