Update... first signs of progress
Finally a step in the right direction. First, lest anyone ever think their phone calls to congress don't count, hear this: as a direct result of YOUR calls, key congressional reps including Jay Inslee (D-WA, lead sponsor of the Internet Radio Equality Act which now has 130 sponsors) and Ed Markey (D-MA) convened a meeting and brought very serious pressure to bear on everyone to reach a solution... This is grassroots democracy in action.
We're far from out of the weeds, but we won't be shutting down on Monday. Man, these last 48 hours were long ones...
For a better summary than I could write, check out Ken Dardis' post. I'll continue to post as this develops.
Thank you again. Stay vigilant. We are entering a critical negotiation phase and need to keep the legislative pressure on.

Yeah Baby, Thats What I Like...!!! :D
My faith in the system is looking a little bit
better, but like you said we are not out of the
weeds yet.. I urge everyone to please make more
calls, even calls thanking those that have
supported the internet radio equality act. The internet is still pretty much a new media, one the bigger businesses need to learn to embrace, and not oppose, maybe in the end of all this we might be able to get them to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel... thanks for such a great service..,and lets see its continued success...;)

I got a quick response back from Ron Wyden
here in Oregon.. He says he will continue to fight to keep internet radio available to everyone. So I gave him a call again, thanking him for his support and quick response back. As for the other two I guess Im going to be calling them back a few more times, and hopefully sometime in the future I can call them again thanking them also...

If Congress would just sit back and enjoy the product as much as I do, they just might be convinced. I mean hearing music that you actually enjoy and purchase.
Keep up the great work guys. I'll keep listening and calling.

If the corporate powerhouses that want the pie for themselves would only realize that more exposure only increases the consumer's appetite, they would pay Pandora! I have bought more music in the last year, thanks to Pandora, than I had in the previous TEN years. They do not think pragmatically, but only to satisfy the stockholders' lust for a show of immediate profit. (And I say this as a stockholder in some major companies...)
Posted by: Brian Wagner at July 13, 2007 11:28 PM
I have to confess I'd totally lost interest in music, and particularly buying music, years ago. Maybe it was being constantly barraged with Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wherever I went soured me on the American music industry. Pandora is the ONLY way I know to hear new music that I actually LIKE and BUY. If the music industry kills you, it's not just you it's themselves they're hurting.
Posted by: kenjacobsen at July 14, 2007 12:53 AM
I wonder how much of that money actually gets back to the artist.
Posted by: Wayne Keller at July 14, 2007 04:54 AM
We've got to keep this site alive.
When will people wake up and realise how beneficial this site is to artists and the music industry alike.
I'm sure everyone that uses this site has discovered so many new artists through it, resulting in more sales, more happy people and increasing the Pandora good karma around the globe.
Glad to hear some postitive news!!
Keep the pioneering spirit ALIVE!!

It is helpful to the cause to provide easily accesible contact information using zip codes. Some sites have set this up so listeners could have direct numbers to call their district legislators. Some have even provided some key speaking points to discuss ( Accuradio ). Just a suggestion that I thought was helpful that Pandora may want to implement.

Thank God for people like you that loves music!
I want to say that this station is worth fighting for! I called, I wrote several times and I am so glad that I can still listen. I think it is a wonderful station and some of the CD's I have ordered I would have never done without this station. I love gospel and it has it all. Thank you so much Tim for doing such a good job with this station. I have all my friends listening and writing to save it...

Pandora.com is the best free music service on the net.
User-friendly does not begin to describe how easy it is to use Pandora.com.
I have 5 stations set up so far, and a list of songs I can reference whenever I want to for purchase or downloading.
To be able to create a station based on a song you love, hear that song and others just like it that you may not have heard in years is fabulous to me.
You have my support and thanks for giving me something so wonderful.

This is one the best internet radio stations out there. You must continue to fight to listen to what you want when you want. That is what this country was built on. Individuals have the right to choose. Developing your own style of music without interruption is perfect. Great company and I wish you the best.

Checking in from CT. Emails work well too, they have to spend the time to write back. Since it's in print and can be seen again they even get other aides involved to double check the answer. I brought it up in Sen. Liebermans office and found they had a committee to answer 'personal' Emails. It takes an extra few minutes to type one out but...The more involved they have to get the more you have affected their work routine. Good work radioland!!!

I hadn't bought any music for about 12 years until I heard music on Pandora that I would NEVER have even known to look (listen) for! Same for my 14 year old son, who can hear things on Pandora, then buy them on iTunes.
Of course the artists need to get royalties (they do need to eat, and pay for gas, and buy instuments), and I admire Pandora for working their [bleeps] off to keep it all going right for everyone.

You can look at it like this. When you go to the club, you pay your cover charge to the door staff and go inside, where you hear the music the DJ is spinning. Think of the Internet like this nightclub, and your ISP is the door staff - give them money and they grant you access. You don't pay extra to hear the music, it's just THERE. And there's definitely nobody keeping track of what the DJ plays, how long each record spins and how many people hear it. That would be just ridiculous.
PS thank you for being commercial-free.

Like others here, I had pretty much given up on Radio Stations and buying music became a pain as most of the POP music that fills the racks is utter crap. I found PANDORA while sitting in a quiet office and needing something to fill the emptiness. I have been 100% hooked ever since and just bought a SLIMDEVICE Squeezebox which hooks into PANDORA like hand in glove. I now have access to my stations and quality sound.
The single most important thing that the music industry needs to know is that through this we have found many artists that we like enough to buy their records now. This is a direct result from having access to a vast and well organized library via PANDORA and the net. We are only making purchases now due to this access. There is a direct relationship to access, intrest and sales and if the marketing guys at the music and media companies don't see this then they should rub their eyes and go back to school. They should see PANDORA and others as just another marketing method albeit much softer than their push to sell the next million of some glitter and bling-bling POP production. The artists should and probably do understand this.
I doubt that anyone here "RIPS" and bootlegs songs, but rather most are exposed and excited about the music and buy more CDs.... Right?
Anyway... Thanks and let's hope that our combined pressure wakes enough people

I grew up with 80's music when artists began exploring new musical styles, instruments (synths and samplers) and rhythms. That was such an awesome musical era, as musicians were creating their own trademark sound, and many bands had infectious songs that just stayed with you.
Ironic thing is, there still is musical discovery with awesome bands emerging- but you won't find them listening to your local radio station.
You know where to tune in...
Long Live Pandora!

Called 2 Senators and one Congressman. Again.
I hope they get the message - Will be a little . . . peeved if this collapses after buying a squeezebox to enjoy the best music available. Congress made a BIG mistake allowing conglomerates to buy up local stations. There is nothing but garbage to listen to in this town. Gave up on MM Jukebox when they kept slipping in Brittney Spears and the like - Payola lives, even in the internet - but fortunately not here. I hope it stays this way.
Keep up the good work.

After leaving my job as DJ in Philadelphia during 76 to 80 I must confess that I lost almost all interest in RADIO Stations and their play lists. Pandora brought back the music I enjoyed and helped me discover many newer artists that have never hit commercial radio at all. Now I buy from Itunes and Amazon on a regular basis. The greatest thing about Pandora is you never know what will be on next but you know it's going to be good. Keep up the good work and fight the good fight!

Just a message of support from a former non-US user. I just bought an album I discovered thanks to the few hours I spent listening to Pandora (I had barely found anything worthwhile of buying for several months).
That's a testimony that Internet radios can actually raise record sales.
Good luck in doing the right thing !
Posted by: blah at July 16, 2007 09:43 AM
Happily my Congress critters are all on board. Would it be too radical to suggest a little of the "B" word?
Let's face it, the artists aren't helped by this scam. Independent artists will be harmed. These goons and bullies cite slumping CD sales as one reason for this banditry. But what if there were no CD sales? What if corporations who advertise through broadcast radio knew no one was listening to the stations? What if music venue owners threw a concert and no one showed? If these guys want to use money as a weapon, they need a reminder that it works both ways.
Just a something to think about ...

Hi all!
Hi Tim,
First at all this is an off-topic. Today in News Factor [Frederick Lane] said: "No Doomsday Yet for Internet Radio" said: "Sunday, July 15, was supposed to be the day that Internet music died: A new fee schedule was set to go into effect, including a $500 "per channel" minimum fee." I am strongly disagree as many people in the both sides : Users and Business. I ask Why call it "radio"? Internet Radio it is not radio. The source of meaning is totally different. Why we need a License? As I say to Tim couple months ago:
"
I believe in the Cyberspace, not in Global things. We suppose that the Cyberspace is "global" by their self. Imagine, for example one user from USA, but is connecting from a "foreign" country [the system check the IP] and lock the user, right. The magical thing of the cyberspace is that we avoid all form of government, of course limited by the ethics. This is the greatest thing of this metaphor. Well, may be the industry need, as you say the equivalent of Jack Valenti [pass away recently] in the RIAA like the Motion Picture Association. He was president for 38 years, imagine how many "Internet years" does this new industry needs. The Interent Radio is totally different business like the old radio. May be Larry Leasing could by help."
Internet is not a "local service". We need to re- name this like: Internet Music. Why: The rules of the conventional radio does not apply [" bitmaped"] to Internet.
Regards,
Jal

I absolutely agree that Pandora has helped music sales through access to new and undiscovered artists. My interest in music is revived - I never listened to broadcast radio and rarely bought CDs because I was convinced that I would never find music aside from the Top 20 crap they play on the radio. Since finding Pandora, my interest in music has been revived and the diversity of artists I listen to has never been greater. Maybe that is what record execs are afraid of - their stranglehold on the big artists (who probably aren't being helped by Pandora) is slipping as people discover the music they really like and move their dollars to those venues instead. My advice to them - get better taste in music and learn that creative marketing ploys can only go so far in selling glitzy teeny bopper music. Thanks Pandora.

Thanks for Pandora; it's the best ever, a glorious return to the musical values of old. No Oldies station in the San Francisco ever played such a wide range quality music. I recommend it to people all the time and everyone is delighted to hear of it, just like I was.

HELL YEAH! Let's get Congress even more involved in regulating the Internet AND let's make sure they set prices for music that we can all afford. Why don't we just get them to legislate that music cannot be sold for more than what it costs to manufacture the disc it's sold on?
(I think everyone in favor of Congress setting price controls on ANYTHING is a frickin' moron. What you need to pester them to do is remove regulations that afford monopolies to utility companies!)

yeah this site is diffenetly up 24/7 on my computer, but after reading some comments, espically [the person who] stated [he or she] was recording the music she was listing too. that is what is going to end these services, this is a create way to learn about new artists and to listen to ones that we love, but not a way to STEAL there music. bands get money to produce and albumb and tour from a company, that company gets money from cd sales, no cd sales= less great music. Listen, if you like it enough to want to hear it again when you want to, buy it off itunes or something.
Posted by: matt baker at July 17, 2007 01:00 AM
Please live Pandora even if congress wins just get more adds even if they have to be playable ads between songs. Your station is worth to much to just go out. Try even if money is a problem you can work it out by making a monthly charge to members like my self of like $1.00 I don't think any one can complain about that and if that don't work charge members more like $5.00. Any more then that and its pushing it but I bet there are people that are willing to pay more then that to keep Pandora going.
Pandora music station is the best out so far. Other stations try by albums but Pandora takes it a step further by doing pain staking work from song to song. Its been the best way for me to find music as my kind of music does exist but is really hard to find in the first place. Yeah easy to find if you know the band name but is it played anywhere other then Pandora 80% thats answer is no when it comes to the stuff I listen to.
I bought 3 albums a months after listening to Pandora. I got my brother to buy 10 albums with in the 6 months he has been listening to Pandora.
Pandora rules. It helps make money and hell I would buy a sanos for work if I was not afraid of it shutting down. I mean come on everyone could listen to what they like at work with out anyone having an cow over trying a radio station worth listening to that don't have static.
I'm writing down all the good music that Pandora plays on my stations before it dies that is if it does. That way I can still have the music I love but the real shame is any artist that makes what I like after Pandora's death probably wont be heard by me.
Live Pandora! LIVE I TELL YOU LIVE FOR ALL MUSIC LOVERS.

Dear Dave:
Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns regarding the Copyright Royalty Boards recent decision to increase royalty rates paid by internet radio operators. With over 50 million people listening to internet radio, hundreds of thousands of internet radio stations operating, and the music of tens of thousands of artists playing, I recognize this is an issue that has a wide affect on many people.
The Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) was established in 2004 to determine rates and terms for copyright licenses and to oversee sound recording royalties, including those paid by internet radio services. Currently, radio services pay different royalty fees based on the technology used to deliver their programming. For example, broadcast radio stations pay no royalties as they have traditionally been viewed as providing free promotion for artists and their recording labels. Satellite radio services, such as XM and Sirius, pay 3-7% of their revenues for royalties which is based on a legal standard requiring rates to be reasonable, balanced and fair. Webcasters pay 11-33% of their revenues as royalties are based on their size and if they use a subscription. Rates for webcasters, however, are not required to be based on the same principles of fairness used for satellite radio rates.
CRBs March ruling will further increase royalty rates for internet radio service providers to 300 1200% of revenues, forcing most small internet webcasters out of business and eliminating online music services for many larger webcasters. It also fails for the first time to differentiate public radio from commercial media by imposing the commercial rate structure onto public service, non-for-profit radio webcasters. This model contradicts the public service mission of public radio and will reduce the availability of alternative programming provided to Americans.
H.R. 2060, the Internet Radio Equality Act, was introduced in April and would reverse the CRB ruling. Its goal is to create royalty parity by setting temporary royalty rates at the same level applied to satellite radio services and also requiring future royalty rates to be based on the same balanced and reasonable standards. As a result, internet radio webcasters will be able to continue serving its listeners while paying artists a fair return for their work. I am a co-sponsor of H.R. 2060.
While H.R. 2060 is awaiting action by the Judiciary Committee and the Energy & Commerce Committee in the House, the Senate has also introduced its companion bill, S.1353. Rest assured that when this bill is brought to the House floor for a vote, I will have your views in mind. In the meantime, it is expected that the CRB decision will also be appealed to the DC Circuit Court.
Again, thank you for contacting me with your concerns on this important issue. Please feel free to contact me in the future with other matters of importance to you.
Sincerely,
Michael E. Capuano

I hope these comments get seen and heard by those in legislature as well. For the record, I also buy MORE music based on what I hear on Pandora. I am passionately AGAINST illegal downloading and this is one of the few areas were I can hear entire tracks legally before I purchase, WHICH I DO!
Thank you Pandora. I am a big fan.

As a supporter of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame (through my paid membership) who is a big jazz, country and rock fan (kinda sums up the Alllman brothers, doesn't it) I want to thank yall for the service yall provide. I see it as mutually beneficial to the record companies and the recording artists as well as to the music lover. By providing information about my favorite bands and links to buy similar music, you have exponitially expanded the list of music I intend to buy in the future. I have an XM membership as well, but because of the information yall provide and the links to buy cd's, I prefer Pandora.

Seeing all the concerned people on this message board is phenomenal! I actually had a conversation with someone about this at a recent leadership conference, and it's great to know that the word is spreading about this pertinent issue. The next step for me is to get actual interaction with my congressmen to push this issue along. I think e-mails and phone calls just don't get the emphasis of the personal touch. Stay tuned soldiers. I honestly need this to survive. Music is my life.
Posted by: Cedrick Alexander at July 17, 2007 11:48 AM
I really hope that Pandora will not only survive but go global. As I am not in the USA, I have only had the chance to listen to Pandora for a very short while - but even so I discovered great new artist whom I had never heard of or listened to - you can't even by their music in my country. I turned to Amazan.co.uk to buy some of the music - which I would not have done, had it not been for Pandora!! It would be great to get the opportunity to register with Pandora. As it is, it is hard work to dig up the music I like in my small country. Pandora is intelligent - a small miracle. Good luck!

This has to be one of the most creative and imaginative sites there has ever been! Every radio station should take a cue from what Pandora has done.
I live in Houston, and with a town such the size it would just figure that there is not one decent radio station, so I have stopped listening to the radio for the past 5 years - Pandora is my only radio station!!!
Keep it up!

I figured it out. They want to kill Pandora and other small time stations BECAUSE it increases the consumers' appetites! (see my above note) The big companies don't want to spend money on small artists, they only want to push their Britneys and the like, because it is less overhead than smaller artists. They think that they will then be able to make more profit, as there would be less artists competing with their crap pop music. As it is, I don't listen to one current 'big-name' artist, only little guys. This is a higher overhead-profit ratio than big names. THEY WANT TO KILL MUSIC DIVERSITY!

I have the good fortune of working with staff from the Maine Congressional delegation on a regular basis in my job and was able to encourage all of them to support this legislation (Sen. Collins, as you know, was one of the original sponsors of S.1353).
My message to the record companies and their artists is very simple--I have purchased or paid to download at least 10 albums this year from artists I'd either never heard of or whose music wasn't familiar with until I started listening to Pandora. If they think Internet radio is costing them $, they are confused. This is $ I'd have spend on something else without you introducing me to the music here. Not all of us are "criminals" looking to hoard as much free music as possible--many are just looking for help to find what else is out there so we can go buy it. No service does that better than Pandora. Keep up the fight! Thanks.

Posted by: S. Harper at July 19, 2007 01:05 PM
I've bought more music in the last year (since I discovered Pandora) than I have in the last 5 years combined.
Some of it has been esoteric stuff you don't hear on the radio because big labels would never pick it up.
Much of it has been well known artists on major labels who I just never realised I liked because I only heard 3-4 of their songs on the radio.
My point? Pandora works, I am happier about my purchases and eager to purchase more of what I am hearing but trying to practice some self control.
I'd like to think I'm not too far off base in saying that I am FAR from the only listener with a story like this.

I did tell them those were my congressmen, and please look up to see who their's were, if they didn't know.
Posted by: Susie at July 19, 2007 09:39 PM
You know things are screwed up when they start passing laws that basically say what music we can and can't listen to. And you know that's what's happening too. Without internet radio stations, what we listen to is pretty much restricted to "popular" music which is already shoved down our throats every day.
Before a friend introduced me to Pandora, I had lost almost all interest in music. It had gotten to a point where it all sounded the same, and nothing was interesting anymore.
Upon seeing that Pandora could possibly be shut down, I got on one day and wrote down all the artists I had found over the months I'd been listening. That's about 50 different artists, by the way - at least 40 of which, I NEVER would have found if it was not for Pandora, and thus would never have bought their CDs, either.
It's simple math:
Finding new artists I like = buying more music = more money for the music industry (Wow, who would have thought, huh?)
Unfortunately, whenever change rolls around, people naturally resist it. Hopefully, everyone will come around and see that this is one of those good changes, and internet radio will survive.
But until we're in the clear, do your part and contact your representatives and make it clear that we need to keep internet radio around.
Posted by: S. Walker at July 19, 2007 10:29 PM
man... i don't want pandora to be shut down... otherwise i'll have to listen to my iPod and have to find the songs, and i don't like most of the songs on my iPod as i like the songs on here...

I listen to Pandora every day at work. And as a DJ by night, it's inspired me to find new music all the time.
Pandora is quite possibly the most important development in radio of the 21st century. Seriously, it's more important than Digital. It enfuriates me that the 'Man' strives to choke or shut down anything it can't get a huge slice from.
Keep it up. I can't write to Congress, I'm not from the US, but be assured Pandora has not just national but global support.
From the other Western country being choked by the greed of those in power \m/

i love pandora and it has become a vital source of discovering new music for me. new music that i then go and buy and tell all my friends about. why can't the recording industry understand this? there are few sectors i feel more disdain for than music. what fools.
when i buy tracks from the itunes website i have to burn them onto an audio cd, then re-import them as mp3 files just so i can play them on anything other than an ipod.
who's investigating apple for this monopolistic, anti-consumer behaviour i wonder?
Keep up your worthy fight.

Pandora is the best legitimate use of internet radio I have ever encountered. I constantly recommend it to my customers whose systems have been attacked by using illegal music networks. Pandora provides the music fix we all have been looking for, but leave it to the lawyers to try to destroy it.
I have no doubt that Pandora has exposed people to a lot of music they never heard of. I know it has done that for me. I am constantly listening to artists new and old because of your ingenious algorithms. Pandora has to have a positive influence on the music industry.
Hang in there and I hope you can find a profitable business model that works for many, many years to come.

I absolutely love Pandora.com!
I have found so many new, great bands that really fit what I like to listen to! I will definitely be buying their CDs!
I don't think the "big shots" realize what a powerful tool internet radio is to up-and-coming bands. I never would have found some of these artists without Pandora, and some of them have made my Favorites list!
Internet radio may play music for free to its users, but I know I (amd I'm sure many others) then go purchase the albums of the artists I really enjoy.
Thank you for keeping your wonderful site in business, and best of luck to you in this fight!
I'll be rooting for you! ^_^

I tried to recommend this site to many of my friends, but they were already great fans. I guess it is better late then never for me.
I wish you luck and you can count me as a supporter. I would even be willing to listen to advertising like regular radio to have my choice of songs.

I love the music on the blues channels. This is the best internet radio I have found since I can't even remember when. The mix I receive is so spectacular I can't turn it off. I wish I could get this station in my personal vechicle.

It is wonderful to see democracy still functioning. Thanks for not rolling over.

Because of Pandora I discovered so many new artist that I actually have started to buy CD's again.

Keep up the good fight.Keep writing-keep calling.
As far as RIAA revenues are concerned-myself and everyone I know that frequents Pandora- we have all been turned-on to,and purchased music that we would probably otherwise never have been exposed to.
Cheers!

Pandora is such a great service, and one that should be looked upon by all radio stations, new and old, as a blueprint of how online radio can be operated successfully.
Keep up the good work Pandora, and thank you for becoming politically active.

Love Pandora... I`ve bought more music over the internet because of this station.
I would think musicians would love a thing like this it gets there music out there,that..other wise..would not even know they were there.
I know myself,I have bought at least two dozen albums of people I didn`t even know because of this station. Were else can you listin before you buy? and in the privacy of your own home. Taking this station and others like it off the internet would be hurting the music business not helping it.I contacted my Representative and let him know, I think every body should.

I'm with James Sims, if it were not for Pandora and internet radio in general, I would not know many of the artists that I do today, nor would I have come to appreciate their music quite so much. In my eyes, it seems that the primary prerogative of the RIAA is to chase away their own customers and drive their artists into a pale ignominity by not allowing a large group of listeners to actually get interested in the artists' music.

ITS ABOUT TIME SOMEONE STARTING ABOUT WORKING PEOPLE FOR ONCE; MY WIFE AND I LOVE TO SIT BY OR PC AND LISTEN TO SMOOTH JAZZ WHILE VIEWING OR E-MAILS. THANKS PANDORA FOR BEING FREE.

I exchanged correspondence regarding Internet Broadcasting with both of my Senators (Boxer and Feinstein) as well as my Congresswoman (Matsui). So they are all three aware of the feelings of the voters in this California household. I still hold out hope for old-fashioned "democracy in action."

Just discovered you guys. Well, actually through the July issues of PC World lauding you guys big time.
Thank you for you hard work!

This is truly an amazing service you have created.
It has brought back the joy of music for me as I lost that somewhere around loosing my MP3's by a failing disk, listening too often to my own collection, issues with DRM, etc. etc.
Pandora liberates music from the shackles of technology and corporate greed.
Thank you so much -- I hope you succeed in your goals.

Great job guys..keep up the fight! I will

I think it's great how you guys are fighting to keep your awesome project alive. I love that there is such a venue as pandora by which i can commune with other music lovers and learn about new artists. I do not download illegally, i use pandora as a conduit to finding new groups whose cds i sometimes end up buying, if i like them enough. Keep up the good work, the RIAA are a bunch of fat cat moneygrubbers! let the true artists and appreciaters of it win this battle.

A co-worker introduced me to Pandora - it's wonderful! Finally I can listen to nothing but music I like with no irritating DJs. And I'm rediscovering artists like Sarah Vaughn and Dinah Washington. I'd think the record industry would love this site and support it, not try to shut it down. Keep up the great work.

Just the father of a professional musician -- have I missed it but is there a way to productively bombard the politicos with email - is there such a portal? THanks Kim K Judd

Since I'm type A and use Quicken obsessively, I was able to easily figure out how much $$$$ I've spent buying 2 iPods, buying 2 deck thingies to put the iPods in at both home and work, buying tunes/albums off iTunes, etc., all because I've discovered a song/artist via Pandora. Also came up with a LONG list of artists who benefited financially as a result. When I called or wrote, I focused on $$$ spent & #s of people who benefitted financially, figuring that's the language they'd understand. Hope it helped!

Hi - you've likely considered this, but why isn't there a group on Facebook & MySpace? I know so many people who use Pandora and would love to both promote & save the site.

I, like a lot of the responders to this blog, listen to Pandora at work. I work in a multi-cubicle situation, and without Pandora, I would not get nearly as much work done due to the intrusion of noise.
Also, in the past, I have not spent money on CDs because I do not know the artists and am afraid I will buy music I don't like.
Since the discovery of Pandora, I have been turned on to so much music and artists and have purchased much more music than ever. The music industry is bound to profit from your radio, as do we all. Thank you for providing such a great service to the working public.

Like many of the folks who have commented above, I am spending more money buying music than I did during the last 10 years B.P. (Before Pandora!). There should be a way for Pandora to get credit for these sales.

Since I've begun listening to Pandora Internet Radio, I've bought more CD's than I have in the past six years. I'm so frustrated at so many of the FM radio stations that do not announce the composers or albums they play so I can buy them. Aside from the fact that I'm driving a car most of the time when I listen to FM and I can't write anything down when they actually do name the artist, Internet Radio allows me to jot down the info I need to buy the album. I have post it notes all over my monitor with albums I'm going to buy...

I guess it has said many times on here but I can't stop say how much Pandora has widen my horizon of music to the point where I went out and purchase....Ne-Yo,Mario,Jagged Edge,Ginuwine,Luther Vandross to name a few....
wish every success to the medium such as this one,can stay alive....as someone pointed out the Industry see the medium as an enemy and fail to capitalize....
