Tim:

Okay, I sent the e-mail to whatever passes for a senator down here in South Carolina. To be honest I really don't have a lot of faith in these guys but hey, if ya'll think it's going to help, then fine.

Keep the faith, Keep up the good work and above all, relax and have a great weekend. I work in a state prison and I leave it there in the parking lot. Pandora and golf are about all I need to forget the bastards that would have me less than I was designed to be, happy!

I have you guys as a link on my blog www.mysteryofnothing.blogspot.com

Tim,
First of all, I love Pandora. But as a former disc jockey & music director (for 25 years), I am dumbfounded by the latest strong-arm tactics of the RIAA mafia to extract money from Pandora and others.

As I understand it, internet radio stations are already paying licensing fees to ASCAP and BMI--so what the hello does the RIAA want! I cannot fathom why the RIAA believes that the experience of listening to music is any different coming out of my desktop than my desktop radio or how that will somehow shortchange the artist. I just legally downloaded an album the other day because I heard the artist on Pandora.

I'm all for compensating an artists and I purchase my music legally from I-Tunes. That said, I never understood why, as broadcasters, we had to even pay license fees when I was in radio-hell, we were advertising their product (records) for the artists. If you didn't get airplay, you didn't sell any records. For all intents, we were paying BMI & ASCAP so we could advertise (through airplay) the talent.

Finally, you need to come to Arkansas one of these days---ever heard of Little Big Town, Evanesence or Trout Fishing in America--they all come from Arkansas.

BWT, most of us in Arkansas have indoor plumbing these days.

Hey,
I live in MA and I called last week, and I got pretty good responses. One senator told me he hadn't made a public decision yet, but he was pretty much decided to support the Radio Internet Equality Act. One told me that he was definetly supporting it and the other was out of office. I'll be calling later today. We have a chance, keep calling everyone!

Wut's up? I just wanted to say that I'm a lover of Electronica, and I love to just pop in a keyword or Artist name/song name and I've got my fave music at my fingertips. I love it! I love it! I love it!!! Thanks! Oh, btw, if you're ever in the Philadelphia, Mississippi are just let me know and call me at 601-656-9583. I could give you some real tips on how to make the Pandora search better.

What about Canada?... I see Pandora is now restricted here due to licensing constraints, and I'd be curious to know where this comes from. I mean, both the listeners and the artists can benefit from this after all. I was personally becoming addicted to Pandora, which already made me purchase 5 new albums I would never have heard about otherwise. So keep up the good work, and make sure to do everything you can to make Pandora available to the rest of the word!

Only on Pandora can I truly geta mix of all the different music I like - almost (no classical).

THANK YOU

I HATE broadcast radio, sorry but I do. I LOVE Pandora. Best adjunct feature is the "thumbs up" list so I can look at what I'm liking and shop for it! I agree with an earlier comment, why should radio broadcasters have to pay to advertise music?

So, again, thanks & best wishes.

My teenage daughter turned me on to Pandora and I have passed the blessing on to most everyone at work. Now, when I walk through the facility, office to office, I hear Pandora coming out of most of the computers. Pretty cool for a 300 bed facility in the North Carolina Department of Corrections, what? Music and artists I discover on Pandora have been the mainstay of my gift giving for the last few years. I even bought some tunes from a Canadian artist (shame on Canadas government for being so uptight) and his music keeps my wife dancing around the house for hours. You all at Pandora are what artistry, intelligence and innovation are about. Thank you.

Internet radio by itself may not survive but the world of music is changing and internet radio needs to think bigger. Pandora is excellent because it exposes me to music that I like that I never otherwise would have heard. I want to click and buy the music I like from Pandora. Pandora should be a channel to buy not just listen (the long tail of music). Also as the traditional record producing industry continues to lose money since they hang on to the old ways, Pandora can step in as a music producer, channel, and radio. We want more.

Is anyone trying to look after foreign users in the RIAA negotiations?

It really bothered me to see them get cut out, and to read the dissapointments in this blog.

We need all the overseas friends and supporters we can get right now.

And please let us know when to weigh in again with the politicians.
