UC Berkeley Recap..

Another much belated recap... gradually catching up. Great to finally host a town hall meeting in what is truly our own backyard... Berkeley, CA. Not suprisingly, the group was full of ideas and irreverence.

A number of great discussions, including a lot of talk about integrating with existing collections...

Many people wanted Pandora to know what they had on their iTunes collection, and to use that to drive stations, allow rewind for owned tracks, and various other features. Also a healthy appetite for the power user. This included a desire to allow a bunch of thumb activity at once so someone could quickly define a station, without having to listen to tens of songs first. One interesting input was using the iTunes info to make sure NOT to play any songs already owned by the listener, in the interest of discovery.

Also some interesting suggestions on importing preference information from other services to accelerate the station creation/definition process.

It was also great to have some Pandorans in attendance - breaking away from their maniacal work schedules for an evening... Chris, Seana and Paul thanks for pitching in on the t-shirt handout - you made the whole team proud...

If anyone attending has any pix or thoughts they want to share, feel free to post...

Cheers. Tim (Founder)

Really enjoyed the event... I was fascinated to hear how Pandora got started and some of the ups and downs that you experienced in launching the service. Also great to hear some of the ideas people had for Pandora. Keep up the great work.

I'D love to attend the next town hall meeting - how do you find out about it? Looks like a great opportunity to contribute ideas.

I love Pandora. Not an Ipod guy. Would appreciate a "purchase" link to another downloadable music site. A whole new world has been opened to me...it'd be cool to be able to quickly purchase/download these tunes.

Hey, I'm in a picture! I'm famous! Weird angle, though. Anyway, I really enjoyed the talk and hearing the questions people had, and it was definitely worth the twenty minutes it took me to find parking. :>
