Phoenix, AZ recap
FInally time to catch up on the cross country swing from before the holidays - AZ, CO, DC. Kicked it off with a lovely visit to the Arizona desert. Balmy weather.

I started the day with fun visit to the Cahill Senior Center to meet with some older listeners. Was hit with caustic glances when I suggested we try a Tommy Dorsey station to start... they wanted some 'rock stuff', like Coldplay, U2 etc. and "some country". "classic country?" I asked... "no, you fool, Leanne Rimes and Keith Urban.." Talk about stereotyping... guilty. Very fun to see how easy Pandora was for folks who aren't all about technology. They talked about sharing it with their grandkids. Love it! Thanks to Diana for being such a gracious host.
Then drove over the Thunderbird - the big local business school for a chat with some energetic entrepreneurs. Lots of questions about the business model, not surprisingly...

Spent a long time with a wonderfully engaged Phoenicians at the ASU campus. I think we were there almost 4 hours.

Thanks to Molly for keeping such great notes. Highlights:
1. More control (cockpit). This would probably be used by the die-hards mostly.
2. More options on the rating scale:
It Rocked
Pretty Cool
Ho Hum
Thanks for Playing
3. Building your own searchable tags (for things like motivational, inspirational, yoga music, etc.). This was a big one - people really want to start inputting info and shaping the available data.
4. Point to other podcast content (College/University lectures).
And many, many more great ideas.
Headed out bright and early for Denver...

Pleased to hear you enjoyed your trip to Phoenix. You should visit again, especially this time of year. It's perfection!

I have to say as time passes I'm wanting some type of tag system more and more. The two stations I listen to the most are titled 'Aggro' and 'Mello', but it can be tough sorting through recommendations to find new music to thumb-up. It's recommending other music I end up enjoying, but often the recommendations have no place in the themed station I'm trying to build, so I end up sending tons of songs to other stations and not having as much as I'd like in the themed ones. (And I end up seeding artists/songs into them.)

Absoloutely more rating options; there are some tracks that I am almost sure about, but dont want to rate it simply yes or no.
Also, the tags is a great idea. I would like to have more input.

In the area of more tagging, I'm thinking I miss something that would let us indicate we like everything in the song BUT a certain thing (person's voice). There are plenty of songs I would love to continue to hear, but the voice doesn't appeal, or some instrumental aspect that is unique to either that song or that artist. Also would love to have a place to say "Give me more from this artist" - not just "play more like it" which could invite more with similar sonic qualities but not necessarily from that artist. We all know some albums have 1 great song and the rest are so-so. But, technically, I can see that the system is really stacked toward characteristics regardless of whom the artist is - guess it has to be that way to some degree... Thanks for building this, it's awesome.

I think this is a great station. Everybody has different tastes in music; Pandora allows me to listen to what i like without having to wait through 10 other songs i don't have any interest in listening to, only to get to the 11th i like and then go through 10 others i really dislike. It was a great idea guys; keep up the good work !!

Thank you so much for music I like, mixed when I want and the introduction of artists that sing my type of music that I have never heard before. I love Pandora and am telling all of my friends. Keep up the good work. I also enjoy your musical podcasts.

Can't get enough of big band music, Liberaci, and some of the classics like Wagner, Liest, and so on. Also, the boys from the 30 and 40's like hank williams, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Sons of the pioneers etc. But, the one thing that kills me is, I can;t go to another website for business etc. without losing my music. How or Why can't we fix that. I use to listen to Launch music and there was no problem going from one website to another without losting the music. Come on you guys can do it. Come up with something brilliant. Rich

Hey I just want to say this is the best thing ever. I think it is such a great tool. I am a full time student at ASU. I love using these features especially for studying purposes. Non stop music and it associates to understand your listing purposes. Just thought I would post and make a comment about how much I love it.

I'd just like to say that I have really started enjoying Pandora. I signed up a while ago, and never came back to using the service. While searching through my bookmarks, I found the site again, and am now hooked. Great idea, and great offering! Thanks for this service!

Sergio Mendes plays Cinnamon And Cloves, which I originally tried to play on your station, but you did not have it. Why not? You have plenty of other bossa nova and similar songs. I really like Brazilian music very much and thank you for whatever you put on ( but not me ). Gracias, man.

My husband is Steve McCarty (wrote with STEVE MILLER Fly Like an Eagle, Wild Mountain Honey, etc.} and was in the band. He just won the Career Achievement Award for LAMusic FAME Awards. He will be releasing the first CD since those days in the next few months. Is there a way to get previewed on the site? There is a lot of talent in Phoenix, so Al Bowman of Los Angeles Music Awards and FAME Awards has just moved here. Are you going to come back here?

Great idea however it needs to compatible with the dominant music player - ITunes. All my music goes through ITunes; IR, Purchased Music and my uploaded CD's.
We need to hear streaming through ITunes.
