Red Barn Recap...

Well I must say, that's some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen. Took me quite a while to get to Amherst because I kept stopping to take pictures of the changing foliage. Mesmerizing. Passed the stunning stone buildings at Mt Holyoke College (which I learned from some evening attendees are all haunted). I took the liberty of adding some of these pix to the blog for your viewing pleasure...

Thanks to everyone who came to the gathering. We met in a beautiful, rustic wood cabin on the Hampshire College campus...

...complete with creaking wood floorboards. Could have easily been an assembly of farmers with muskets planning to fight the British...

Wide ranging conversation - from Creative Commons and a discussion of alternative commerce options, to supporting live concert promotion. Cool idea to give people a 'crossfade' option to more elegantly segue between songs. Was great to have UMass, Amherst, Mt. Holyoke and Hampshire College students in attendance.

Also continue to get competing feedback about the desire for more sharing options. Folks seem every interested in having easier ways to find folks that share their taste, but the word 'profile' evokes some strong reactions!

Headed back to Boston late at night. Looking forward to the in town meetups, even if it isn't much of a college town...

I just started listening to Pandora at work. Great idea, especially if you are someone who can listen to a great song more than once. And enjoy some music that is not featured on any comerical radio stations. I am living in Tucson Arizona now but when I clicked on teh Blog and saw Tim Westergren's photo's, well, I was raised in Massachusetts and lived there most of my life. I do miss that area much of the time. I can't handle the sever winters anymore, however, there is something to say for the great lifestyle of a New Englander!

Hi, Who are you people, and how can you put together such a great site for FREE? My brother turned me on to this site. He has a practice in PA and keeps Pandora playing though out the day. I am e-mailing this site to my friends in AC. I'm 57 and I love all kinds of music, but I have a special place in my heart for the "Philly Sound" I grew up with Jerry Blavit in Philly. I really miss that era. somehow you have captured it here. What a Whoot....to turn on my computer and hear the Delfonics, the Dells, the Moments and the Impressions bringing me that beautiful soul music.
This is just an awsome sit!!!
Thank you Pandora for bringing me a little taste of home.
sincerely,
Mary Butto

I love the website and it's free. What a selection. You wanted sugestions so here goes. I like Barry White but I'll only hear one song from the album and don't get to choose one that I really like, then it moves to a similar style of music and I just want to hear Barry White. I want choise and more control. I'm new to this and maybe I just have to learn the system. Marlene Hager

I recognize some of those pictures! I went to school in the Amherst area. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did in the Autumn. Just stay away during the winter, it gets bitter cold!

PS: the buildings are haunted. They have great Halloween parties at MHC.

Didn't know you were in the area - love your site! And I'm glad you enjoyed visiting - I think it's beautiful here as well.

I went to Hampshire. Recognized the Red Barn on the front page of the blog. Lived in Berkeley after that. Recorded a CD at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, where your staffer Michael Zapruder was also recording. It's nice that you added the AMG data. I work on web applications now, and I'm impressed with your approach, as well as digging the music on my Bob Dylan channel. Keep up the good work. I may have an application that would work nicely with Pandora.

We have ived in NH for 32 years and love it. Each season brings wonderous change and beauty, which your photos depict. Your website adds to my appreciation of music and service, which goes back over 50 years. Thanks to parents who supported all my music endeavors, and thanks to you as well.

Nice pictures; I just played a little gig at the red barn (wedding, just a little jazz quartet).

Next time you're in the area you should check out some of the music in Northampton/Easthampton area just across the river. Stop in at Night Owl Records in in Easthampton, record store owned by an artist on your database (Mark Schwaber). Good tunes, great radio concept; listening at work right now.

WOW! I am singing the praises of Pandora throughtout the land! I am a 1st grade teacher in Mass. and we listen to our Pandora stations during writing and recess. My class thinks I have a great amount of children's music.

Try visiting western Massachusetts more:
Springfild - Westfield - Holyoke - North Hampton - West Springfield - Chicopee
Hadley - Amherest - Greenfield
Some towns:
Southwick - Agawam - East Hampton - Granville
MAYBE the "hilltowns"?

This general area is FULL of hardcore/heavy metal bands... most of which i don't remember the names of.
