You Used to be My Favorite

With tonight's release we've given our "favorites" system an upgrade and decided that it's also a good time for a name change.

You've told us you're using the favorites feature for all kinds of things. Some of you use it to keep track of songs you want to research, some use it as a purchase wish list, others use it as a public expression of their musical preferences, while others still use it as a history of the very best songs they've found while listening.

Since there's such diversity in how this features is being used, we've decided to recast the system as "bookmarks" and to relaunch the favorites page as a musical profile. Don't worry -- all your old "favorites" are still there. We've just given them a new home.

At the same time we've added some new features to the page. Now your stations automatically appear on the page and you can now keep a list of bookmarked artists in addition to songs.

Hi, on a related issue, I have wondered for a while how custom stations created from multiple artist/song seeds function. The "songs with similar qualities to this artist will be added" message implies that the a stations built from multiple artist will merely be interspersed with songs that each correspond only to one of the artists added. However, what would be cooler, and what indeed may already happen is that only songs that have musical qualities similar to all the artists from which the station is compiled. Which is it?

And we can delete old songs and artists from the list! Much improved. Thanks, Pandora!

I also notice that the list formerly known as favorites stays in the set order when you add new songs, rather than reverting to chronological each time. Love it!

p.s. I nominate "Backstage" for the Time Eater of the Century Award. I made the mistake of checking it out while at work. Who knew a hour could go by so fast? Thank goodness my boss doesn't hang on my shoulder.

p.p.s. Am I imagining it, or have you been able to fix the problem of songs with different volume levels? Everything sounds sharper too.

I have quite a few songs bookmarked and it would be nice if there is some indication on the player whether the current song playing has been bookmarked by me or not.

Thanks!

More changes, more improvements, nice.

But where's the "I'm bored with this - don't play it for a month" option gone? That was dead useful - otherwise you can get some serious repitition...

Keep at it!

Madhu, check out:
http://www.discogs.com/release/561893

It shows three people who have the song, "Next to the Sea" -- maybe you can cut a deal with someone.

I love what you are doing. How do you do that voodoo that you do so well? I think you are on to something. I know you are. The breadth of your repertoire is impressive. I don't always understand the musical terminology, but the results are extremely gratifying. I was disappointed when you came up empty on April Stevens, a singer from the forties whose voice could melt frozen vodka. Oops I just dated myself. HS

New to Pandora. Amazing and very impressive. I can imagine how this will develop and become the way people find new music, and maybe more.
Has any work been done in 'grouping' stations, or they are unique. Do they relate to personality profiles...
Cheers!

On the subject of the best song ever, I would recommend the following site www.rankopedia.com They have "Stairway to Heaven" as the greatest song ever.
