been enjoying Pandora these past few days - any chance of getting some classical and/or showtunes available?

Depending on my mood I like to logon and just let you play.

Posted by: dave at May 25, 2006 05:50 AM

i just discovered padora, and i LOVE it. it's such an amazing idea and it's great to see that idea take on. i was thinking--maybe lyrics beside the pandora box? or maybe even guitar tabs?? i know that a program like pandora can only go up. you've probably thought of these things. figured i should say them nonetheless. best of luck!!

Nice. Trying to get over there with a friend.

Sorry if I missed it, but do you have a public place to file bugs and feature requests?

Posted by: Eelco at May 26, 2006 12:23 PM

Didn't realize you'd be in Seattle so soon. Will try to send some folks over to you.

Cheers,

Can't make it tonight --but I must say very cool concept and site!!!

Posted by: Russ at May 31, 2006 03:41 PM

Hey it's awesome what you're doing and that's you're coming to Seattle, there's lots of amazing talent here. Sadly I can't make the meeting as I only saw the listing today. anyway since you're here and have some time between now and when you leave (dunno your schedule) if you could check out Bethurum they're an amazing local band. They have some samples on their site (bethurum.com) but seem to be located in the U-district which is just 15 minutes by bus from downtown Seattle. So if you wanted to actually talk to them, now'd be the time.

Rock on,
Katie

Posted by: Katie at May 31, 2006 04:58 PM

It would be nice if you could add genre to your options. So I could put Christian music and not have to skip over the non Christian selections.

Sometimes if I put an artists name in the search and the first song on their latest track is classical, the pandora will select classical for my genre. When the artist is more of a pop artist. For example Michael W Smith. He has a classical song on his track and pandora gave me all classical music to follow his style. Michael is a pop style Christian artist. smile

Just some ideas. I really think you are on to something.

This it the best free radio station that i have heard. I really like the fact that I can pick and chose what music i want to listen to.

Posted by: Tanya Flathers at June 2, 2006 12:58 PM

I think i would really love this idea if it would make it through a whole song with dying. a continuing problem. what's wrong?

Posted by: gll0303 at June 9, 2006 11:56 AM

Okay. I just found this today and nobody I know seems to have heard about this. So I shall spread the word as loudly as I can for you guys.
Awsome job with this. Even parents like it.
And if you get the parents approval you gotta be good.
And any station that can play me both my country and my rock and my pop and everything in between is just awsome...although I think you need more then just the "yes" and "no" and "I'm tired of it"...maybe a "a little" or "not quite"...just something in between

Posted by: Kayla at June 10, 2006 05:28 PM

y'all are AWESOME. i'm defintley addicted.
but you should check out john van deusen, fair, aaron sprinkle, and the listening. yay for seattle music!

I enjoy Pandora and am pleasantly surprised to hear obscure period material I've never heard by artists I know or others I've never heard of before. That's why I'm puzzled as to why well-known artists I put in are not recognized. Two examples: Junior Parker, a smooth, polished blues singer and harmonica player, recorded "Mystery Train" (Sun) original version, had many R&B classic hits such as "Barefoot Rock" and "Next Time You See Me." Jack Sheldon, one of the greatest living jazz trumpet players, and a great singer as well, still recording and performing with many well-known singers and players. He was the band leader on the Merv Griffin TV show for years. What does it take to get recognition?

Posted by: George M. Sullivan at June 15, 2006 09:39 AM

is it possible to have this player and music added to my yahoo 360 page?

Posted by: FAIRON at June 15, 2006 04:56 PM

So I am curious when do you plan to come down to Orlando FL there has been so much music that has come out of that area, I would think it would be a great place to discover new music for pandora.

Posted by: Justin Rasik at June 16, 2006 05:23 AM

Thank you for the music!!

Posted by: Jerome J. Bracey at June 18, 2006 06:49 PM

You should come to Milwaukee's Summerfest on Thursday July 6th to check out "Growing Nation" featuring Yetunde.

They are one of the best bands in the country!

Posted by: Demetrius Washington at June 18, 2006 08:41 PM

Tim,
I think you should try to get to some of the little towns. As an old road musician, I have found some of the best music in the smallest of towns across this country. I love the concept of pandora and listen all day at work.
Thanks for the music!

We have an event facility in Spokane, WA. It's the Big Dipper -- http://www.largeladle.com -- We play Pandora in the club. It's wired through our house system. Recently I showed the system to some clients. They were so impressed they used your site for all of their dance music. They were having such a good time we let the party go to 6 am. I'm thinking of having Pandora Partys as an ongoing feature. Thanks for a great service. If you come through Spokane you can use the Club at no charge. I know a LOT of local artists. Best, Steve

Posted by: Steve Spickard at June 30, 2006 12:17 PM

I am actually from Canada and I love the idea of this whole thing, great work! My job doesn't like me so much cause I take all their bandwidth streaming it all day, but I just can't stop. Anyhow, I just wanted to let you know there's a great local band from Victoria called 'Jets Overhead' that I just can't get enough of, they have an album called Bridges and it's great. I'd love to see em on here.

Keep up the good work,

Jason.

Posted by: Jason Hopkins at July 10, 2006 08:57 PM

I'm up North of you, but I would like to recommend a band named Edson...I'll ask them if they'd like me to send you one of their singles. Take Care!

Posted by: Ted at July 12, 2006 11:06 AM

It's great. This is one of a kind. That fact that I'm listening to stuff I listen to in the 80's. Old R&B music. The only thing I just wish we could back up and/or hit repeat. Other that keep it going.

Posted by: Cherry at July 12, 2006 05:35 PM

My daughter turned me on to your site. It is amazing! I am dancing in my living room this morning! Thank you!

Pandora rocks!

Local artist/music - head to Republic, WA (120 north west of Spokane) for great fun and terrific local fiddlers and other musicians. Ask at the CoOp on Clark for Rusty Summy - he is our FAVORITE local guitarist/singer - or pick up his Jellymoon CD.

Good place to swing thru on your roadtrip anyway - shot us an email if you're ever on the 20!

Have fun!

I am from Olympia, WA i just found Pandora about a month ago on a tip from some dude at a bar. The Oly music scene is ripe with under-ground punk rock and hip-hop. If you ever get back around to the Great North West stop in Olympia(60 miles south of Seattle) and check it out.

Posted by: Kay at July 26, 2006 10:27 AM

This is the most amazing concept, yet! I thoroughly enjoy the music choices. Just found it two days ago. Now it's all I listen to! Keep it going. I will pass it on to everyone I know!

Posted by: Karrie at July 29, 2006 10:08 PM

I am thoroughly enjoying Pandora: ease of use, comcept, and best of all, the music. One genre missing, for me, is orchestral music. Not necessarily the classics, but artists like Phillip Glass, Danny Elfman, etc. Especially their film and piano works.

Posted by: Craig at July 31, 2006 11:16 AM

Wonderful work. One Washingtonian band missing, sort of a here today gone tomorrow grouping: "Sharks Keep Moving".

Out of their ashes sprung "Minus the Bear". Though MTB is special in their own right, "Sharks Keep Moving" is truly sublime. I hate people who use that word. Time to schedule a therapy appt. Check out their eponymously titled album. They have an EP called Desert Strings and Drifters that's pretty something as well.

Posted by: Mark Allen at August 3, 2006 06:40 PM

I have listened with Pandora on and off for years, but I am concerned as to how slow some of the latest works have taken to hit the online scene.

eg, The Automatic's : Monster...

Virgen Radio tool bar plays it twice a day, can I look foward to seeing it soon under search??

Posted by: G at August 5, 2006 10:55 AM

"Whats that coming over the hill, is it a monster?? Is it a monster? Is it a monster?"

The automatic.

Posted by: G at August 5, 2006 10:56 AM

Bummer,
I just got turned on to this! What a great venue! This is on on every computer I come in contact with, work, home, friends house.
Hope to catch you the next time your in Seattle.

Posted by: Tina at August 8, 2006 05:20 PM

Like other posters, one of the primary features I like is the exposure you give to "non hit" tracks. I enjoy '60's type soul, but my education in the genre is limited to "the hits" and what I can gleen from www.soulfuldetroit.com (which BTW is one of the best information sources on all things soul that you could ever ask for). What Pandora has done has exposed me to artists I have heard of but never heard, or artists I know but only by their Top 40 hits. Thank you.

Posted by: douglasm at August 9, 2006 07:12 PM

Living now in Seattle, but I'm down in Portland, OR quite often. If you're down that way, check out the Salmon River Project, and especially Intellectually Sound. Two great northwest hip-hop flavors, esp IS. Those guys never headline a show, but when they come on stage, they get people on their feet like the headliner can't.

Wow. I discovered Pandora while at a Barber Shop in Spokane, WA. A Time magazine article if I remember correctly. It sounded good so I noted the URL. That was less than 24 hours ago. In that time, I've discovered at least 20 - 30 new groups that I absoutley love. The hell of it is that I had never heard of any of them before yesterday! And you know, that's not good for a budding recording engineer. Not only is your service just plain old good listening, it's also not a bad tech tool at all. The science behind Pandora is nothing short of amazing and its ability to consistently find new music I like is uncanny! Kudos to the whole staff there for making this one of my best internet finds ever. Easy to use, simple, simply the best. I like the idea of being able to submit new music to your analysts/musicians and will surely be making every effort to do just that as I venture into the world of recording and production. Already I've put the word out and have the go ahead to submit some orginal work that I had recorded earlier. There was a sound of excitement in their voices as I described to them your web sight, service, and some of the info on how you accomplish all this. Again, GREAT JOB on an unparalled concept. This service was definately built with the end users at the top of the list and allowing them to influence how, ultimately, this concept will mature. Thanks for bringing your idea to fruition, and for not selling it off to the recording industry. I'm sure they're sitting there wondering how it is that they missed the bus on this one! I'm off to check out your "We're Hiring" link. Sounds like the kind of company I would love to be a part of.

Found Pandora by accident. Was searching for Allison Krause music and found the AKUS radio station. I joined up and added my music stations and it is fantastic. I love listening to the obscure and less famous artists. What a great service you provide. I have told everyone about it over the last few days.

I've told so many people about Pandora after my roommate told me. It's great.

If you're looking for local music, maybe check out U. S. E. They're an electronica band from the Seattle-ish area. I think they're on tour now, but a lot of people from that area know about them.

Thank you for making this website!

A friend turned me on to Pandora and all I can say is that I am in music heaven. I just want to let Tim know that the music scene in the inland Northwest is hot. Here in Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington we have many great music festivals from Pig Out in the Park, 6 days in Spokane, WA over the Labor Day weekend, to the Festival at Sandpoint, ID, a week long in August, to the Tumbleweed Festival, a weekend of folk music in Richland, WA, and Ritzville, WA puts on a hell of a blues festival. We draw some national talent but we have plenty of homegrown as well, with the likes of Jim Boyd, Nikole Bailey, and Too Slim and the Taildragers. We would love to have a visit from you Tim.

Posted by: Robbie at September 24, 2006 08:42 PM

You've got me listening to music again! I'm probably older than most of your listeners and had just about given up on trying to find new music I like because I think the radio stations areound here are boring and I just didn't even know what artists were making the kind of music I like.

How amazing to be able to list my old favorites and find new artists I instantly love! Now, when I want to get a CD or two, I have some sure-fire names to choose. I like that you have links that make it easy to buy them. I listen to Pandora at work, too. You're making music fun again!

Posted by: Susan Moore at October 6, 2006 10:49 PM

Thanks so much for the music, I love how I can get all sorts of different artists from one I regularly like. Also, in Seattle, there's this jazz club down by the waterfront, by the Aquarium. I think it's called highway 99. Maybe you should check it out! Also, don't forget to stop by Pike place and buy doughnuts...

Sad though for all the DJ's that no one listens to in the future.

I just became a listener a few days ago, and I really like what you've done! However, I was raised with classical music and so like to listen to it regularly. I haven't been able to find hardly any classical music to listen to on your website. Every time I type in the name of an artist or the name of a song, I always get the message that it either can't be found, or that special requests are not possible or whatever. What am I doing wrong? I would really enjoy being able to listen to classical music!

This is a great sounding site. I am so glad that I was introduced to you. There is a band Maktub that you all should listen to. They have a "Maxwell meets Phish" kind of sound alot of soul and very cool riffs. You will find yourself singing the songs all day. Also a great cover of No Quarter. Check em out.

This might have already been suggested, but I'd love it if the album release year was displayed right on the album cover or near the other details. I'm always curious if what I'm seeing/listening to is brand new or if I don't know it because it's so old. I know I can go into the details, but that's just not nearly as convenient.

Pandora rocks!

But Tim, I'll pony up part of the .07 cents per play if that makes a difference. Your gig is well worth it. See you in Seattle.

Hey, I want to mention a great little jazz place in Kennewick, WA (East side). It's called Ivory Jazz. Hip, loft atmosphere. Lots of our local award winning wines served. Great jazz on weekends and some cool stuff happening during the week as well. The other night I caught an awesome young guy playing a baby grand with accompanied by a very cool accoustic bass player. Some sweet, outside the box stuff. Another time it was a wild man on the Hammond B3 -- intense. Check it out if you are ever on our side of the state enjoying our SUNSHINE (sorry Seattle), our golf courses, and our wine.
