How about a trip to the UK - Brighton????

I live in South Portland, Maine. Walt Craven, the lead singer for a band called Lost on Liftoff, lives across the street from me. He used to front a band called 6Gig and has been named best vocalist several years in a row in the local Portland Phoenix. Anyhow, great guy, great music, so I thought I'd let you know. Their website is www.lostonliftoff.com.
Plenty of great music here in the Portland area just waiting for you!

I am a music junkie, always trying to listen and learn about anything new, but more important, anything that is really good. I recently heard the lead singer of a local group called Royal Bliss. He has a deep rich voice, and it is very expressive. I urge you to check them out either here in Salt Lake City, or in Las Vegas, where they play frequently.

hey i know of a really good artist yall should add to this excellent site. his name is Corey Smith, he is a acoustic country folk rock type guy, his songs are awesome. he has a few cd's out. so check him out guys.

First, thank you for a GREAT service! I, for one, really appreciate what you guys are doing for the rest of us.
I'd like to see three items added to your list of possible improvements:
1. I note that many of the song titles entered result in multiple performers, but often not the "name brand" performer. More "name brand" artists would be nice.
2. It would be beneficial to me to be able to enter a "type" of music. Examples include: "Big Band" or "Vintage Country", and have the system generate a profile from that entry.
3. Although I believe you're working on it, classical would be a nice addition.
Again, thank you for your efforts! You help make my day just a little brighter!

Yes, I think Las Vegas would be a great place to come. I am new here and need to learn more about the music scene (if there is one!)

in the NYC area, check out a great local band a brooklyn pal turned me onto: the wax poetics (i think they have a myspace page). i swear they're channeling the jayhawks! thx for a great site.

We had Son Volt play in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 24. It was a fantastic show-one of the best we've had here in quite some time. The opening artist was Evan Phillips. He is in a local band called the Whipsaws. Unfortunately, I don't know a lot about the band, but they are getting a good bit of attention here. I plan on listening to them and perhaps y'all might want to as well.
This is a great website. Thanks very much for the project!
Posted by: Bobby at August 26, 2006 8:31 AM
What a great gift you are offering the public. Thank you for all of the time and effort you all have put into this project!! Word is getting around on the Singer/Songwriters forums about your website.
Please consider a stop in ST. Louis, MO. I can suggest several top notch artists that hail from here. Specically, The Orbits a rockabilly all orginal music. The Lonesome Pines, bluegrass band and again mostly original music. Like some Cajun, know of that band also. St. Louis has been known for producing great artists and we are still at it. If you need any help locating good music in the St. Louis, MO....again, thanks sooo much.

I think you should Visit Bardstown, Kentucky. It's a nice little town with some good talent and great music from local bands. Also i think you should be able to make stations based on genres, for example i love christian rock like relient k and tree63. If you could make genres stations it would be great. Thanks U guys Rock

I love this service! Nowhere else can I get such great music!
Posted by: DM at August 28, 2006 11:44 PM
I am a new listener to Pandora, because one of my American friends told me about you.
I've made several 'radiostations', but I wonder if it is possible to shuffle from one station to another or play one song from the first station, than from the second etc.
This gives more diversity.
Or you could make a station for a musicstream (bluegrass, r&b, R&R, gospel, folk etc).
But all in all I'm grateful that you started
this program.

What a fantastic service!! I stumbled upon the site and am hooked. I teach employment skills in high school. Your site is the perfect example of making your future happen in this tech world!! It also allows us to have great background music while we're working (and I can control it) and introduces us to a variety of genres and new artists in our favorite fields. Thanks!!!!

Come to Minnesota and sample the many fine musicians we have to offer. My favorite local artist, who I don't think has had a lot of national attention yet, is Mark Mallman. He's an outstanding song writer, but an even more amazing showman. If you ever have Mark Mallman coming through your town be sure to check him out. If not just to see him wildly hump his keyboard then to listen to his great music.
If you're interested in a particular CD to listen to, I would recommend Live from First Avenue.
Posted by: Joe at August 29, 2006 2:59 PM
Excellent site!! I can't go back to streaming radio ever again. How about a stop in southern Connecticut? Great bands - Wingnuts, South Broadway Rhythm and others. I agree that classical would be a nice addition. Keep up the awesome project!!!!!! Much success.

Come to Wisconsin!!! You especially need to visit McAuliffe's Pub in Racine, WI. JJ, the owner, is a musician, and is really great about promoting independent music.
Two bands you need to check out:
The Sandcarvers
Brother (www.brothermusic.com)
Nothing like them, ESPECIALLY BROTHER!!
You keep me smiling,

a nebraska visit would be nice, and any library would be willing to let you hold a presentation.

When in Nebraska, make sure to hit Duffy's Tavern or Knickerbockers in Lincoln and Sokol Underground/Auditorium in Omaha. A lot of people have a misconception that there is no music coming out of Nebraska, and a lot of those that think there is music in Nebraska think it's all like Saddle Creek. There's a lot more to it than that. Lincoln has quite a diverse array of bands. Check out starcityscene.com to learn more about Lincoln and slamomaha.com for Omaha.
Posted by: Tressa Copple at August 30, 2006 2:24 PM

Posted by: Art at August 30, 2006 2:35 PM
I would highly recommend coming to check out Lincoln or Omaha, NE. With the recent success of Saddle Creek Records, indie rock has been burgeoning here. We've even got a three day music festival coming up on Sept. 14-16 named 'Lincoln Calling' featuring several shows at various venues each night.

Missed U when U came to DC but do not forget about Balitmore, MD. It is a great city for music lovers, more diversed than DC.
Also I did a survey with Sony Music and it asked what I listen to when I am on the Internet and of course the answer was Pandora,
Thanks

Great idea! I'd love to see you come to St. Louis. Our city hosts Twangfest each year, and it's a terrific music festival. There are several outstanding music venues here - Off Broadway, Broadway Oyster Bar, Blueberry Hill - The Duck Room, The Pageant, Mississippi Nights, and too many excellent blues clubs to even name. Also - St. Louis is home to the very best community radio station anywhere - KDHX 88.1. You can stream this station to sample some of the great programming.

I love listening to Pandora, especially at work. It reminds me of my college radio days. Choosing what I want to hear, even if the sounds are in total contrast. For stops a long your tour, I would definitely suggest UConn in Connecticut. I'm sure you could even sway some 91.7 WHUS DJs into listening to Pandora when they're not near a radio.
Posted by: Rachelle at August 30, 2006 7:16 PM
I think what you are doing is awesome and quite an adventure! I see you are coming near Delaware (not sure when). Delaware has a vibrant, diverse music scene that you definitely do NOT want to miss. We are home to the critically acclaimed Dewey Beach Music Conference (www.deweybeachfest.com) going on September 28 - October 1st of this year! 175 bands from Delaware and from the US and Canada on over 2 dozen stages in one town - and all the shows are free to the public, and in walking distance of each other. If you can, you MUST come to this conference. You will leave with some amazing music!
Delaware is also home to the Newark Film Festival (www.NewarkFilm.com, going on Sept. 7 - 10), which will feature 21 indie films and 18 local musical acts.
Delaware is also proud of a blossoming radio show called Hometown Heroes, which airs every Sunday night on the biggest commercial radio station, 93.7 WSTW. Check it out at http://www.wstw.com/heroes/?num=6. Hometown Heroes, hosted by Mark Rogers, plays local musicians regularly, giving them exposure on a big commercial radio station.
University of Delaware is a breeding ground for budding musicians. I myself started my musical career while attending UD. Many many other great bands and solo musicians have attended UD, including Omnisoul, who signed with Wind Up Records and appeared on the Fantastic Four Soundtrack. My own band, Mythica, is made up entirely of UofD alumni and students. We recently opened for the Spin Doctors and Sister Hazel, and have been gaining lots of exposure. Check us out at http://www.MythicaMusic.com.
Every month there is something going on in Delaware that is local/indie music related, so it's hard to list everything. But I would LOVE if you guys came to Delaware. If you decide to, please do and I would be happy to personally show you around, give you the tour and point out the best places to stay, eat and of course, listen to amazing music!
Thanks,
Melissa Cox

I'm sure that KSLU, the student-run radio station here at St. Louis University would love to organize something for a Pandora event/have Pandora come to SLU. We have a pretty diverse student body, so I think the turn-out to a possible Pandora event on or near campus and input submitted by students would be immense. Please consider it!
Also, I too would like to thank you for your service. I'm always looking for new music, and I have absolutely fallen in love with Pandora.

Hey guys! First, I want to say thanks for all that you do. I've found a lot of great new artists from your site. I noticed that Maryland isn't listed on your road tour (which is probably ok, because the music scene around here isn't exactly stellar), but if you do happen through the area, make sure you stop at a Record and Tape Traders store. There are a bunch in the Baltimore area. And while it's certainly no Easy Street Records (my favorite record store out in Seattle), its the best indie record store in the area. Thanks!
Posted by: Amanda at August 31, 2006 7:27 AM
Pandora has become a favorite for the sound system at the liquor store where I work. So you've got a least a few fans in Norman, OK.
If you're ever in town you need to come by Joe's Place Wines on Alameda and see what's on. University town, too. Go Sooners!

Hey thanks for the great music. I love listening. I live in Montana. Home to 40,000 students, UW-Madison in Madison, Wisconsin would be an excellent place to get some exposure/input.... if you don't mind a large pack of those crazy liberals. ;D All tastes, and a hugely active cultural community. Come on up and meet everyone over some great beer.

Oh you can't cross the US without a trip to OZ. Salina KS. The crossroads of I70 and I35, where North and South meet East and West.
You know how it goes LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!
What a PERFECT place for Pandora to go!! It's almost a perfect bullseye!! I mean you guys hit the music listening world right on the spot, now just bring it to the perfect place.
Why heck even Steve Fosset began his world famous flight with his Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer here in Salina AND landed here safely too.

I'm a huge music fan and have been using pandora for about a year now. I would love it if you would bring your tour to some colleges in Kentucky. I think my state is starving for some decent and listenable music. I'm a senior here at Murray State University and our only means of new music is MTVu channel on tv. So please please please consider coming to some colleges here. Thanks

Charleston, WV
- The Empty Glass
- Capitol Roasters
- Mountain Stage - at the Cultural Center and across the State.
Roasters has local talent every weekend, blues, jazz, folk.
The Empty Glass has wide variety.
Mountain State attracts a lot of local and some non-local talent and broadcats it's radio show to a national audience. Some bigger names who have and will appear are Nora Jones, Emmalou Harris, Bruce Hornsby, Alison Krauss, Joan Biaz. A lot of good locals also.

You really should consider going to Lawrence Kansas. It is the home of KU, and also one of the best places for music I've ever seen in the midwest. They have great record stores and a hugely ecclectic group of people from all over the world at that college.

Eclectic places: Spirit Winds, The Planet and International House of Delights. I want to invite you to come on out to Tulsa and spend some time at Cain's Ballroom. The music has been happening there for over 75 years. The broad music variety available in Oklahoma is staggering. Everything from "Oklahoma" to Garth Brooks to the Red Dirt Rangers to The All American Rejects to Wyman Tisdale. The music is fine here.
Posted by: Larry at September 4, 2006 7:26 AM
Hey you all need to come somewhere in the area around Miami, Oklahoma. I'm sure theres tons of local kids who'd love to help out your project. My only problem with your music player is you keep giving me STYX as similar matches for The Transplants. Honest what's up with that?
Posted by: Josh Mahurin at September 4, 2006 11:12 AM
Hey. I think what you are doing with this music genome project is great and revolutionary especially since we are living in a time of creative stasis. So to further your cause I think you should definitely come to baltimore, Md. Coming from D.C. I can compare that scene to where I currently live in Baltimore. I have to say that we have a diverse arts and music scene, with local places like Sonar, the Talking head, and the Walters art museum which features muscial performances that ranges in variety from jazz to classical. Also, this is a college town with over six different campuses full of avid music listeners. So please stop by, you'd be welcome.

It's a music mecca up here, plus, we're the home of the coolest public radio station called "The Current" - they offer an eclectic taste in music, featuring amazing local and regional artists! Portland, Maine! There's Space Gallery (this month they have Mason Jennings and Elf Power playing, among other bands and events), the Station, a venue that plays a lot of punk, hardcore, and alternative bands (Head Automatica, Against Me!, and As Tall as Lions are a few bands I've seen there), and the Big Easy, a bar that plays a lot of smaller, emerging bands like Portland-based Acta Non Verba and Boston ska band Big D and the Kids Table. There's also Merrill Auditorium, which occasionally wil have really cool shows like Bright Eyes (but usually sticks to classic music and plays and things like that). Okay, I could go on and on about places to buy music and eat and hang out and talk about music and all that, but I guess just email me if you're interested in coming to Maine... Or talk to someone! Cause Portland's awesome.
Ps, thank you New York Times for telling me about Pandora! I love it, I've already found a new band I really like.

Just learned of yur site this past labor day weekend. It kicks butt!! I've already created 5 different stations for my listening pleasure. I just love it, as your site says you have become my new DJ's. One suggestion I have is to list on your site with each song the year it was published/written. I used to have a vast 1000+ album collection and could find these dates myself (helps to settle arguments on when a song came out or who did it first) but my collection was destroyed during moving, I cried for hours. Anyway another suggestion would be a trip to Lincoln, NE home of the Cornhuskers. There are alot of great bars and nightspots with local bands from all genres- Rock, Blues & Jazz, and of course in Omaha you have alot of the slam dancing punkers and other alternative music. Keep up the good work.

I noticed you were heading to Seattle, WA but how about a little east from there. I am in Northern Idaho, but figure you might make a trip to Spokane, WA. Otherwise, Coeur d' Alene, Idaho is absolutely the most beautiful place in all of Idaho.

Iowa City, Iowa continues to draw in national acts and even manages to catch quite a few right before they go big. We just finished Mud River V, featuring almost all local acts out of eastern Iowa. Swing through when you can!

Hey man...sure like the way you all put in something new that I'd never heard of before. As you may know by my stations, I really like an array of music. I have to tell ya, I juat like music and I've even sung a little bit myself. However that is another story. I do know a couple of local groups here near Augusta, Kansas. They're Christian groups. Let me know if you'd like to hear them sometime, but you'd have to talk to them about playing their music though. Keep up the great work!

Draw a triangle between Dallas, Denver & Indianapolis and close to the middle you'll find Fayetteville Arkansas. Pandora should definately put us on the map. Make your way to Dickson St. and collect a crowd of locals and University of Arkansas students at just about any of the fine eating/drinking and music venue establishments the street has to offer. And talk about a scenic locale residing in the Ozarks! Come on- you'll love it here!!

Just want to show some love to Pandora... you are my obsession. I have found more new, great music through there than through any other means, I love it! It looks like you won't be hitting Utah, big mistake! We've got so much great, local music, one in particular that you would just drool over.. Kalai, he currently has 3 albums, "Accoustacism" "Six Strings and the Rainy Day Man" and "Rebel Hands". It's totally worth your while to check him out. Thanks!

No visit to the Twin Cities? For shame! Extensive music community, advertising & arts hub, multiple colleges & universities, and from what I gather, an active Pandora community. Not to mention some leading-edge radio in KFAI and The Current.

I enjoyed my first experience with pandora yesterday. Apparently the project hasn't done much yet with classical music. I suppose you could eventually do say an Edvard Grieg station that would mostly consist of music from grieg, dvorzak, debussey, and other such artists. I'm afraid I'm pretty easy listening in my music philosophy. The backstage feature is really interesting.

I would love to hear what you guys have to say. If you put Baltimore on your list I am there.
Baltimore has some great concert venues with a thriving rock scene. A lot of the acts that roll through the 9:30 club in DC stop by the 8 x 10 in Baltimore. There is always Sonar and the Ottobar for good local and indie music. You should come check it out on your tour.

St Louis is a great place to go and see awesome ORIGINAL local bands as well as bigger names and fun venues. These 3 are right next to eachother: BB's Jazz Blues & Soups, Beal on Broadway & the Oyter Bar. One of my other favorites is Felix's in Dogtown (@Clayton & Tamm), any Thursday or Friday you'll find good music there. And of course, Soulard, The Loop and the clubs on Washington St. downtown. i did't succeed to find anything of genre alled hardcore techno or noise, i also admit that it is not a mainstream thing to listen to but it has a grat audience, many raves and parties as wel as every-year festivals across europe, it would b great if you coudd add this to the project:)

I highly suggest a road trip to Alaska. If you really want to see more green than you have ever seen, plus the most beautiful mountain ranges in the USA, then Alaska is the state for you. If you travel in the summer you can experience life under the midnight sun, and also some wonderful local music such as the Anderson Bluegrass Festival, or the Fairbanks Folk Festival. For some great rock check out Gangly Moose.
There are some amazing artists in the AK. 36 Crazyfists originated in Anchorage. Also you should listen to The Roman Candles, another Alaskan original. If you do make it up to the great north, and you find yourself in Fairbanks (My hometown) then be sure to visit the University Of Alaska Fairbanks and check out their sound auditorium called "The Place Where You Go To Listen". It is a sound and light environment created by composer John Luther Adams. This ever-changing musical ecosystem takes the rhythms of daylight and darkness, the phases of the moon, the seismic vibrations of the earth and the dance of the aurora borealis in real time, and translates them into sounds audible to the human ear. Truly amazing!

Don't bother coming to Vegas unless all you want to do is just chill and do the tourist thing.
There is no culture here...when I try to explain Pandora to people, they look at me like I just started speaking Lithuanian or something.
Radio here pretty much sucks. It's pretty much all Corporate Radio: Clear Channel/Lotus/Beasley same 20 "songs" over and over. If it's not on the "radio" or MTV, no one here's heard of it, nor do they care to.
Sad sad sad. Thank the gods and goddesses for the Internet!!

Just to reiterate, Oklahoma is a great place for music. The Greenwood District of Tulsa is famous for being the Black Wall Street of America before the race riot of 1921 that economically and physically devastated the predominately African American neighborhood.
However, musical traditions have persisted and the area now boasts a blues and jazz festival that is top notch for the Mid and Southwest.
In addition, many musicians call Oklahoma home, including Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey.
Please do consider visiting us!

There is a fantastic Native American radio station out of this town. They play quite amazing music. Don't know how far they broadcast, but it sure is fun! You guys should make a stop in St. Louis Mo. Aside from a lot of great venues around here, (Lemp Arts Center, the Gargoyle, The Pageant, The Creepy Crawl, Mississipi Nights, the list goes on) There are alot of Universities that would love to host something... I go to Webster University, SLU (St. Louis University) would be another great stop, and Washington University St. Louis even has it's own venue (The Gargoyle) so I'm sure they'd host something!

I'd reiterate that Madison, WI is well worth a stop... especially if you're already travelling to Chicago and the Twin Cites (as we're smack-dab between them!).
There's more than 2 handfuls of small-medium size venues that still give you an intimate-feel but give you the right ambiance for rock shows. The places of note are: The High Noon Saloon, The Annex, The Terrace at the Memorial Union of Univ. of Wisconsin, The Dry Bean... along with many of the trendy bars and clubs up by the Capitol (Cafe' Montmarte, Club Majestic, The Orpheum, The Barrymore).
We've had a few big names come of out of Madison, and a bunch of smaller names that hopefully will get signed someday too. Regardless, Madison is a great city for live tunes all across the stylistic spectrum. Give it some consideration!

Hey I was just wondering if Pandora will ever have a unit that you can put in your car's dash board and listen to it when your driving. I think their would be a big demand for this kind of thing (as in you would blow xm/satilite radio right out of the water!). Even a walkmen type unit just so we the people have a nice portable unit. I'd pay $50 a month for something like that (and I'm a broke ass college student). Anyways keep doing what your doing we love it and hopefully I'll see a response to this when you get a chance. -- Peace, Mikey (Minnesota)

first off... i just want to say that pandora is an incredible idea, one i think that alot of programmers would have shied(sp?) away from. second, theres a local group i really dig from this area (montana) called the "high poet society"... they bill themselves as hip-hop, but its much more melodic than your average "im better than you" rap portrayal. also, they are nothing of the gangsterish sort. it really is worth a listen. i believe the main site is http://www.highpoetsociety.com, but their frontman posts alot of music on his myspace at http://www.myspace.com/hiphoplsr
i also have a bunch of cds, these guys dont have national distrobution yet, but i could email you a zip file with a bunch of mp3s in it if you'd like.
thanks for your time.

Don't forget the center of the music universe - Lawrence, Kansas. Home of the University of Kansas. Previous home of the legendary Outhouse where bands such at The Descendents, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Meat Puppets and Minutemen played before moving on to bigger venues downtown like The Kansas Union, The Granada and Liberty Hall...
It's also the childhood home of lead singer/guitarist Brian O. of the band .22 who's currently touring with his new band Bottomless Pit.

Sunset Jazz in Frederiksted, on the beautiful Caribbean Island of St. Croix, is a community event offered on the third Friday of each month. Admission is free and families are welcome. Residents and visitors alike meet, mingle and enjoy great jazz wafting over the waters of the Frederiksted harbor, as well as the guarantee of a beautiful sunset in this wonderful park setting. Hosting locally and internationally acclaimed jazz artists, Sunset Jazz in Frederiksted has received an enthusiastic reception in its six years existence, and has become a much anticipated monthly island event.

You need to hit up the Twin Cities. Mark Mallman, The (Olympic) Hopefuls and Atmosphere are just a few great acts from here. The Current (as mentioned above) is pretty sweet and, oh yeah, ever heard of Prince? Game. Blouses.

3rd: thanks for what your doing, & despite the other suggestions--please stay away from categorizing the music, doing that kept me from alot of really good stuff over the years

In this times of globalization music in spanish is a good choice for all the latino comunity not only in the US, but all over the world, so I suggest to include more spanish singing artist remembering though that not every track in spanish has to be salsa, merengue or raeggeton, there are thousands of rithms: pop, rock, bolero, etc. I recomend you to check the popularity lists in each country like Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Colombia... don`t rely too much in the lists of rolling stone or billborad they talk about latin music in the US, not in the source countries, that's why almost always people think merengue and salsa are the only true latin music...
Check out artists like "Heroes del silencio" "OV7" "Mecano" "El Tri" "Enanitos Verdes" "Timbiriche" "Fey" "Julieta Venegas" "Mijares" "Montaner" "Vicente Fernandez" "Javier Solis" "Los Panchos" "Raphael" "Radio Futura" and many many many many more from today and yesterday...

You all should come to Tulsa, OK. I've turned alot of friends on to Pandora. We have a lively Western Swing heritage. 80s/90s/00s trends include rockabilly, psychobilly, red dirt(stripped down bluegrass), a growing indie/electronic/avant-garde scene and alot of metal(south-midwest hybrid sounds). And there's hip-hop too, very much a clash between memphis-stl-atl club oriented stuff with the huge texas screwed stuff. The blow up of Texas has Oklahoma questionin where it stands in all of this.

I have been blown away by what you have available both in terms of your catalog of music and various genre but by the musicology you make available. I would be interested in plans you may have for a Tulsa stop. The Greenwood Cultural Center is host to the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. We have an active local music scene. The Spot Awards are an annual event to promote local talent that is very well attended.

Hello tim, I live in the great state of Alabama and i noticed that we weren't represented. We have several great recording studio's in the North West corner of Alabama . We have Fame Recording where the like's of Bob Dylan,The rolling Stones,Rod Stewart, and a host of people that are to many to name have come and laid down tracks. Our hayday was the early sixties when the greats like Otis Redding,Aretha Frankiln and Doby Gray would come and spend time in the area. We've had the Alabama Music Hall of Fame located here and we have a local music scene that is top notch. The Drive by Truckers,The wednesdays and Shenandoah all come from the area.Every year we hold the W.C.Handy blues festival that draws the best in blues, jazz and rock music. It is one week of music in just about every corner and venue that a drum kit, mike stand and amp can be stuck in.The festival brings in crowds that are from all over the world. It amaze's me the people from other countries that are fimilar with this area. They know the Muscle Shoals Horns,Sam Phillips,Eddie Hinton,Lenny leblanc,Mack McAnally,Muscle Shoals Rythem Section and The swamppers of Lynard Skynard fame. There are several people that are trying to get the old studio's restored to what they were like in there heyday.Well i guess i've pumped this blog with enough enfo for now.I also wont to let you know that i think this concept of a learning radio station is great.I can teach it the type of music i'm in the mood for.

Things I would recommend r 'Wookiefoot', 'Drunk & Disorderly', 'Tuesdays Robot', 'Danger boy & the Road Vultures' and 'Heiruspecs'. Also the best folk music collections in the world r 'The Secret Museum of Mankind'

Hey there,
It would be absolutely fabulous if you guys could make it to Albuquerque. Albuquerque is culturally diverse with its Spanish and Native American background intermingled with anglo-american and black populations, each adding its own flavors to the mix. There are several different possibilities for where we could meetup, and I'm not wise on the hip-hop scene, but I have found this locale to have a rich tapestry of music available for listeners.
Plus we have great restaurants, and plenty of things to do. (So maybe we'll see you?)

Check out SokolUnderground.com and OnePercentProductions.com for shows. Why did you skip ALABAMA?
I am from Detroit; however, my musical tastes run from '50's-'60's R&B and Jazz to Early acid leading up to Woodstock during my collegiate stints in the D. C. area, enjoying country rock and bluegrass, also. Next was the New Mexico influence (limited music) '80's. Back to Michigan and Jazz with concerts and blues bars. Now sharing my diversified tastes with the locals here in Alabama. Huntsville is a melting pot of a variety of music. Y'all come on down. Ray

I don't know if you guys do anything in Canada but I have 4 amazing local talents to suggest.
Civil Savage is a local band in Edmonton, Alberta. They're death/melodic death metal. I'd have to say they have some pretty insane vocals and the guitarist is incredibly talented. I'm pretty sure they have a thing on myspace and purevolume.com. Just look for Civil Savage.
Ira Lee is another amazing artist. He's more rap/reggae. He's originally from Saskatchwan but I met him in Edmonton...If you go to (I think) www.sideroadrecords.com or it might be sidetrackrecords.com...you'll probably find him.
Brother Voodoo is a punk band from St. Albert, Alberta...very small town about 15 minutes outside of Edmonton....I haven't seen them live yet but i've heard demo cd's and they are pretty impressive.
And finally....the all amazing S.O.S. Probably the most talented local band I've heard yet. Their bassist is talented, he was my english teacher, ha. They consider themselves to be Universal Rock...and I would have to agree, you can't really classify them into one genre. Go to www.505sos.com and check them out.

Hi!
I was introduced to Pandora by a fellow co-worker about 2-3 weeks ago and I am absolutely thrilled with this site!!!! I love Christian and Contemporary Gospel music and this site is just heaven sent. I have been introduced to some new artists that I didn't even know existed before I listened to your station and I am so exited! Keep up the great work. There is one artist out there though, that I feel deserves some well needed recognition. His name is Tim Miner. He has worked with some big people in the music industry, but he has some music of his own out there. It would be nice to hear some of his music on Pandora. You can check him out at www.timminermusic.com. Thanks for all of the great music!!!! God Bless!!!

Hi,
I am a huge fan of Pandora, and am so happy you know who G.B. Leighton is. However, I think you need to visit Minneapolis, and check out the amazing music scene here. Keep up the great work, and as soon as you have a need for a mid-west office hit me up, I am willing to volunteer.

Spartanburg is also home to Pink Anderson ( the Pink from Pink Floyd ) . So let's get with it and come to SC , particularly Spartanburg . Love Pandora Radio.

What can you say? Pandora is great! I thought you might not have "Little Esther" a black singer on the "chittlin circuit" back in the 50's. Not only did you have her, but many singers in her posse.
I have twenty channels just to zero in on the music I want to hear this particular minute.
Thannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnks!

Hey there, believe it or not, Kentucky's got alot going on when it comes to music! Here in Lexington especially, not only are there country and bluegrass music festivals all the time, there is a ton of new and fresh music/bands growing out of the garages! And luckily we just got a new bar/club opened up that loves to display the new and local talent! So we have the country and the rock scene- but we got a really good rap scene too! Several people working and recording in an "underground" garage rap studio, which turns out sounding amazing! Oh and if you're ever having a party around these parts, you never have to worry about entertainment, rock bands, "rap stars", what ever you could want, we got it! and everyone is just down for a good time! just a thought!

Alabama...it's not just for rednecks anymore. We have the leading Indie radio program in the country (in my opine). Check out http://www.regscoffeehouse.com/ Reg lives in Bham, and his playlist gets copied by radio stations all over the country. Our local music scene is VERY diverse, featuring performances as different as "The Plot to Blow up the Eiffel Tower" to "Kris Kristoferson". We have "The Nick" (World famous as a stop for indie bands) and "The Bottletree Cafe" (Up and coming Indie venue) and "Workplay" (run by one of the original MTV VeeJays). We also have "The Garages" (pickes as one of the 50 bars you have to see before you die by several magazines). Come here, you won't be disappointed.

Hi there,
really nice idea. Just a few comments:
1. There are loads of Israeli users (I live in Israel, so I know :) ) would be nice to get Israeli music too
2. If I say I don't like a song in one station, please don't bring it on another station.
3. Would be great if we could choose stations according to genre... e.g. slow, Rock, Oldies etc.
Thanks a lot and keep up the good work

I am from Atlantic Canada (New Brunswick to be exact) and i am hoping that you will make a quick stop up this way on your road trip across the US (we're just above Maine).
There is a ton of great bands and musicians from this region who are working hard to get their music out to a larger audience. If you can't make it up this way then i recommend you check out Grand Theft Bus. They are an inovative indy rock band from Fredericton, New Brunswick. They've released 2 albums and have played venues across Canada, and in New York, Boston and Maine. You can check them out on the web.

Hi Tim,
Such a fascinating and worthwhile project, thank you!
How about Montana. I'd love to see some red dots on your road map from the northern tier.
My wife Tamera and I don't live in a town, but we have a good time creating our own scene anyway. Want to see 'outer' Montana and hear some original music? We're in the Bitterroot National Forest about 90 miles south of Missoula on the West Fork of the Bitterroot River. I am a full-time telecommuter (tech writer/web developer) and a liflong songwriter musician promoter. We also present touring musicians in a house concert setting.
We're not conveniently located along some interstate but we routinely fill the room with 50 or so music-loving guests. So if you want to get from Missoula to Salmon, for example, you'll drive within 15 miles of our home. Heck, we'd even whip a special show just for you.

Lawrence, Kansas is only about a 40 minute drive from downtown Kansas City. The local music scene has traditionally been vibrant and diverse for years (many would say more-so than Kansas City, at times) We have great local rock, reggae, jazz, experimental, bluegrass, metal, and everything in between(we just need some good funk) and live music every night of the week... with several venues bringing in regional and national acts all the time. You all ought to consider coming to lawrence when you come to Kansas City, as Lawrence really is a hotbed for great music. I can be reached at my e-mail if you're interested in me putting together a list and description of musicians that will be playing when you are visiting the area.. I'm very interested in your ideas and hope to be able to contribute in any way I can.

Alaska has some great homegrown talent, aside from Jewel and Hobo Jim there is an abundance of persons with to much time and to much isolation that seem to take it out on instruments of one sort or another.
You should plan a mid summer road trip up the Alcan and swing through Tok, down to valdez, over to Anchorage and Wasilla and up through Denali to North Pole and Fairbanks, perhaps even a side trip down to Girdwood, Kenai, Homer and Sterling, worth the time for sights and sounds alike.
I can hook you up with some great local music scene people like Jim and Ester at Whole Wheat Radio ( http://www.wholewheatradio.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page ) and some cheap lodging like the Alaskan View Motel at http://www.alakanviewmotel.com
Hope to see you swing through and perhaps take home some great vuts of music and some great cuts of Salmon (I can show you the good places for those too!)

Little Rock has and has had a very vibrant music scene and tradition. The Mid-South has two cities that have both contributed a great deal to American music, and if Memphis is listed, Little Rock should be as well. In addition, the musical history of Helena in Arkansas needs to be reflected.

you really need to do a trip to Alaska. Drive through Canada or fly into anchorage. Wasilla in the Mat-su Valley has it going on for music. Aug. is State fair with a music festivle of locl music makers, and the midnite sun. FYI joshua glen fryfogle
writes for the local paper. the frontiersman about the local music. The Great Bear Brewing Company open mics and great local music. Both are on myspace. These two contacts are hard beleivers to the local music makers. I was blessed to grow up in the S.F. area in the 70s and Ive been blessed for a second time to see the great music being put out here. Least I forget, 3AM dead of winter three man band playing to the northern lights...

Between Cleveland and Erie, PA were many recording companies that never had nationally hits, but local people purchased them because they were GREAT!!! Also I have over 30,000 songs on CDs I recorded from my 45s that I gladly share...let me know how...more DOOWOP and rockabilly would be great!!!

My dear friend Pandora.
I've been enjoying (greatly!) this site for about a year now and I've never thanked you. Thank you (thankyouthankyou) for all the hard work you've put into this project. It's all kinds of amazing and I love how versatile and yet reliable it is.
So for what it's worth, know that somewhere out in cyberspace, you've made someone in South Carolina very, very happy. Thanks.

Not my State but one I visit at every opportunity is West Virginia where you can find some of the purest old time music still being played and taught. Particularly central West Virginia. But, I'm sorry to say, if you don't go now you'll miss it. The true old masters are now in their 80s and 90s and leaving us much too quickly.

I just discovered the web site yesterday, really cool! Where in the heck have I been?!
A couple of suggestions for you to check out in Des Moines, Iowa.
There are two venues that are a must for regional acts, Blues on Grand and Vaudville Mews.
As far as original local acts, there are 3 that I highly recommend, Randy Burk and the Prisoners, Brother Trucker and The Nadas.
Keep the tunes comin' and thanks. Bob

Is a desktop version of pandora in the future plan? It would be awesome to be integrated into a media player like i-tunes. Also the option to buy the mix you are listening to right now should be available. Awesome job so far!

Hi! I just recently moved to Arizona from Arkansas but I want to recommend Fayetteville, Arkansas as a location you might want to visit on your roadtrip. It is the home of the University of Arkansas (Go Hogs!) and there is a street, "Dickson Street" that has live music everyday of the week and I have some really fantastic bands there and I sure do miss my live music - I live in a small town in southeast Arizona and the only live music they have here is Spanish music. Make sure you stop in at the "Gypsy" and "Georges" - Friday "Happy Hour" is a great time to hit Dickson Street - I promise you wont' be disappointed!

Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky is well known in this part of the country for it's music programs; it annually graduates a number of students who represent a broad genre of music styles. Kentucky is home not only to horses and bourbon but it's where many country music stars call home: Wynona Judd, Dwight Yoakum, Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless, Tom T. Hall and Billy Ray Cyrus, for example. But many, many more professional musicians from Kentucky are "behind the scenes" as members of orchestras, back-up band members and so on. MSU would be an ideal venue for a Town Hall road trip, you'll not be disappointed!

I wanted to clue you into a band i heard this weekend. A conglomerate of musicians from local louisville, ky bands got together this weekend to form the "health and happiness family gospel band". Comprised of perhaps no more than eight musicans, this band takes bluegrass gospel to a different level by using sure-fire lyrics and infusing the melody into their own brand of bluegrass garage rock anthems that are impossible to tune out. as i hear it, they have an album in the works and i thought would be a wonderful addition to your roadtrip...and posibly pandora's wonderful assortment of tunes.

I'm from Juneau Alaska, and a friend of my family, Rory Stitt has been making music for years. He's been touring and has produced three albums so far. His sound reminds me of Vienna Teng and Regina Spektor, in that it is all piano, moving harmonies and soulfully heartfelt. He is pretty famous here in Juneau but has had trouble getting his music noticed. I'm just wondering if you could add him into your assortment here on Pandora. His website is http://www.rorystitt.com
Thanks a lot!

Local to Madison WI is El Donk, www.eldonk.com, a few CDs released. Satire rock in the Zappa tradition. But actually I'm writing to beg for Lagbaja the Nigerian sax rocker.
I wish more attributes were available to view and edit. I'd like to be able to correct understandable but way-off results - I like a certain type of acoustic guitar beat but that doesn't mean start playing me a bunch of bluegrass - I entered one Aerosmith song and got a deluge of 80's hair bands - no, no, no.
I can see where that kind of input could be hard to keep out of the datdbase though.
THANKS!

Hi,
i created a station to listen to music from the soca genre, I selected Machel Montano and it played 2 of his songs then continued to play reggae and that's all that it's playing.
I mean i love your system here and who it picks song that we may like, but most people that pick to listen to Machel and soca are not always reggae/dancehall lovers. So sorry to say that to me it's a turn off. It's like picking to listen to Sting and the Police and only hearing Prodigy. So i just wanted to drop a line about that.
Soca and reggae are 2 different styles it would be nice if your system does not automatically mix them unless chosen by the user.

Hey Tim,
I wanted to first say thanks for 'Pandora' and the wonders of music that it brings, and then invite you to visit Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tulsa is an awesome town with a semi-underground music scene, that is home to the historic Cain's Ballroom and almost every restaurant, coffee shop and/or bar supports a myriad of local musicians some of which fit into tradtional musical genres and others who seem to take what they will from everywhere and meeld it from there.
I particularly enjoy 'Harmonious Monk' 'Arlis Moon & the Stars' 'Xanadu' and an amazing vocalist by the name of Zach Winters who is often accompanied by his brother on the upright bass. It is a sight to behold. Oh, and when you go. because you will want to go, don't forget to stop into DoubleShot Coffee Co. at 18th & Boston, where you will meet Brian, who will direct you in any direction you may need to go while in Tulsa, not to mention the maker of the best coffee in the world! So, go! Enjoy nad feel the music of Tulsa, it is the best place on the planet

- finding new music -
I love Pandora - and I'm pretty sure it's the leading edge of a paradigm shift.
That said, there's one thing that I'd really like Pandora to be able to do: select music like some set of artists (OK, it does that now) - but *not* those particular artists; just music that sounds a lot like theirs.
Maybe just add a check-box labeled "find new music"?
Thanks!

Both for current music and for our past as a blues, rock, and country base, come to Arkansas! Little Rock, Fayetteville, West Memphis...cities representing the Mid and Upper South, mountain areas with now an almost Midwestern feel, and the Delta. Our music is worth the visit, in addition to all the other things we have to offer.

I think you should visit Wilmington Vermont .There are a few different nice places there that enjoy live music entertainment and the views are wonderful. The foliage in the fall is worth the travel, the skiing in the winter is (when we get the real winters we strive for) what the area is all about. You would enjoy your visit for certain. The folks are wonderful ..

Just gotta say, "THANK YOU!!" You get me through the times I'm stuck at my computer working!! We aren't allowed to download our music, so you make it possible to listen to great music and not load up my work's hard drive! Pandora is awesome!

Thank you for Pandora. I found your site through Budweiser Select while looking for calorie content of the beer I was drinking. Am a member now and I want to say thank you for bringing this music back into my life. Best Wishes. Elizabeth

I think this sight is actually amazing, if it didn't exist I'd probably think about making one like it and then give up out of laziness. As I was using it, great walk through btw, I thought this website is too good, there has to be a catch somewhere and there is. The whole international thing, I'm at uni in scotland and it means I'm gonna have to keep refreshing this website to stay on it. other wise, keep up the good work. this shit's great.
Posted by: Jono at October 2, 2007 6:25 PM
Instead of playing the same style of music all the time why don't you set it up so I can hear all the different styles all mixed up?

I've noticed several views asking for you to come to Wisconsin. I agree with the idea to visit the UW Madison campus, as it's the half-way point between Chicago and Twin Cities, and since there's tens of thousands of students in the city that would love to give you feedback about the site. Nothing like gaining 10-20 thousand site visitors! Something that I was very surprised about was that a music festival called Summerfest was not mentioned! Summerfest, the largest music festival in the world, is held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on the shore of Lake Michigan for 11 days. My suggestion about that would be to offer several streaming music stations on Pandora, recording directly from each of the 8 main stages at the festival. Each stage plays a different variety of music, and the night ends with performances by some of the biggest names in music today, so I think it should be considered. If it's not possible to stream the live performances for any reason, Summerfest is still a definite place you should stop at, since MILLIONS of people show up over the course of 11 days, and you could get an IMMENSE amount of suggestions and input from them. I hope you consider these suggestions, please email me if you'd like any more information.

You should visit Owensboro Kentucky because every year there is a BBQ festival on Mothers Day weekend that has plenty of live music from local bands. The bands are Usually very diverse so there is plenty of different things for everyone. People come and visit Owensboro from many other states and even other countries just for this festival. Not only are there bands but there is great food. A large area of the city is blocked off from street traffic to allow booths to be set up for large BBQ pits and other foodstuffs.
I've also got another suggestion for you, the music selection you offer now is wonderful, but with one exception. I think that you should expand you library to encompass classical music from composers like: Mozart, Rossini, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky. Maybe i just searched the wrong things to find it but i don't think you have classical music. So if you already do have it then ignore what i just said.

I LOVE Pandora. I cant go a day without listening to my station, and I love hearing new bands come on, that i always automatically love. Im from CT and there is a local guy named Zachary Lockwood and he is AWESOME. He preformed at a party I went to, and everyone there got a free CD. He does a lot of local gigs, but is looking for a break. I think he deserves some publicity on pandora, cause hes that good.

I found you with the help of a friend after another sight that I had listened to for years was sold and the new owner decided to improve the Flamenco section. Within 2 months they had ruined it.
I teach computer basics and about 1/2 of my students are hispanic, they are suprised at the choice of back ground music that one old "angelo" picks. If I forget I am reminded to put on the music. the students want to know how to get this site so they can get it at home.
how about a trip to Anchorage Alaska Even if the group was small you would never forget the country.Mountains,Salmon, giant moose and giant bears. Most people never get over the experience.

The holiday season is coming up, and much to my surprise Pandora doesn't have my alternate Christmas music starting points! "Just Call Me Scrooge" and "Saint Nick, You Devil, You" by Fishbone, "I Pray on Christmas" By Harry Connick, Jr. I'm looking for the anti-elf, and I can't be the only one. If I knew the name of the LA area garage band who did "Merry F***ing Christmas" ("One Christmas Eve, my car broke down, I parked it in the red. A cop pulled up, I thought to help, but he wrote me up instead. He said, sorry, but it's just my job, there's nothing I can do. I said merry f***ing Christmas to you too.")I'd beg for them. I think you get the gist.
If you've got other things on your plate, that's cool. Thanks for doing what you do; keep fighting the good fight!

Next year, you need to add the Dfest (Diversafest) that happens here in Tulsa, OK to your list of places to go. It is like SXSW without the attitude. Plus, the tickets were only $20 for all the music this year. Actually, you could lead one of the seminars for musicans.

While you are in Des Moines, IA come to Cedar Rapids, IA too. There is a nice selection of local talent playing jazz, country, folk and eclectic stuff. Black Sheep, The 100s, The Blue Note Band, Black Diamond play around here.

Surely you wouldn't need to think twice about visiting my home state of Hawaii. Who needs an excuse to go there??!! Music in Hawaii is not at all about Don Ho and Elvis!
Home of slack key, which spawned generations of D-tuning hybrids like Joni Mitchell, Michael Hedges, John Fahey and more. Not to mention the rich local contemporary Hawaiian slack key music scene.
And what about Jawaiian? A synergy of Reggae and Hawaiian music...
For those of us who live life in fast-forward, what's not to love about a little Gabby Pahinui at 'pau hana' time (end of the work day)? Hawaii needs Pandora to spread the love of its music to the rest of the world.
Aloha!

No Connecticut! I can understand. This place is utterly devoid of anything redemptive regarding music. All the radio stations are programmed for secretaries and drunken soccer moms. Hell, Billy Joel is still in the top 10 here!!!!! Good concerts are few and far between and you generally don't know about them until the day after the performance. Anything new, aggressive or intelligent is to be feared and looked down upon here.
I am a music freak and have been my entire life. I always seek out music of all types. I look for quality and originality. I like music that causes me to think or drive fast.
I was introduced to Pandora by one of my brothers and have been addicted ever since. Pandora is great and I thank you. Please come and visit CT and you will be astonished that there is no music here.
Merry Christmas.

I heard about this site from a friend and I love the idea but I was disappointed that there was no listing for contemporary Christian in your genre stations. When I searched for specific Christian artists, they were available but there was no way for me to create a station that would only play Christian artists.

Hi Tim -- I just discovered Pandora today and I love it! Even my jaded husband and daughter were enjoying the Police radio stream I created. We're in the fuddy-duddy state of CT -- outside Hartford. I agree with Dan's post from Dec 1 -- CT is an ossified state. There might be a couple of things to redeem this sorry place: New Haven has Yale and there's Trinity College in Hartford. Check out WRTC college radio DJ Brendan Mahoney @ Trinity -- he plays alternative/techno/odd music most Friday nights, unless he gets bumped.
Posted by: Carmen at December 11, 2007 7:28 PM
Tim, I have just recently started listening to Pandora and I love your radio station. I tell all my friends about your station. My Question is can I go backwards on one of my stations and play an already played song.
Posted by: Derek at December 13, 2007 2:36 PM
I just have one suggestion to make the music experience better for me. I tend to like listening to a very specific sound so I was thinking... Perhaps Pandora could introduce an option that when you add a song or artist to a station, you could choose to narrow rather than broaden the station, playing only music that the artists/songs added to the station have in common. Anyway, its just a thought. Thanks for a great service.

Knoxville is a strange place. If you blow through, or more likely crawl through the way I40 works, you'll probably never see anything interesting. Malls, gas stations, a college campus, toothless yokels and yuppies milling about by each other.
But if you take the time to look for the right darkly light alleys and corner bars in the right or wrong parts of town you'll find a growing music scene trumpeted not by the reemergence of The Bijou Theater downtown, but 90.3 The Rock, UT's student-run indie station.
The tried and true Scott Miller, currently fronting Scott Miller and The Common Wealth, calls this odd Burg home, but you already know him. It's the other cats you need to hear to know the place.
Todd Steed and The Suns of Phere, a pun on our only real tourist attraction The Sunsphere, howls americana that has townies and outsiders all screaming "Fuck You" to yuppies everywhere.
Cat's vocals in Dixie Dirt combined with confused and often rampaging guitars in songs like "Boulevards" will take you from loving this place to wanting to burn it all to the ground like only the best drugs can. One part jam band, one part punk, one part country and four parts whiskey-fueled rage and angst, Dixie Dirt will grate on your soul and mind like too many menthols on the lungs.

Have you thought of going to Las Cruces, New Mexico? There's good local jazz at The Patio in Messilla nearby. James Schearer teaches jazz at New Mexico State University, plays jazz tuba, and enthusiastically recommends Pandora to his students.

Ever go to Louisville? You have got to witness the Big Rock Show. They play 5 nights a week in the area, just pick up a local rag to find out when and where, this three piece band is the best cover band ever. They do everything from Pink Floyd to Prince to Sabbath to Zeppelin. Absolutely a must see.

You're kidding, right? Never been to Alaska? I've listened to music in 49 states and I insist Juneau has the best local radio station (KXXL) on the planet. There is also an outstanding live music scene here, especially in the summer. Check out some of the open mike nights scattered around everywhere. Sometimes you find gold. Don't see how you can claim any kind of comprehensive music coverage if you haven't been to Alaska. Get with it, Pandora.

Alabama is not listed. I live in a college town about half way between Birmingham and Atlanta. We have a bluesgrass weekend festival every spring [sometimes fall] usually around Memorial Day or first of June. It's called Foggy Hollow.
I-20 take Oxford exit, head north on hwy 21 N, go to the turn off for hwy 431 N. Go about 10 mi???? until you see the signs for Foggy Hollow.
Anniston [which you'll pass through to 431]has a club called The Peerless Salon. The bldg dates back to 1800's and has most of the original structure and and the original bar with huge arch mirror. Catch "The Lonely Pines" old, obscure, rock there.
T.V. 24 broadcast from Jacksonville, Al home of "Jacksonville State University" and features a local bluegrass band "The Distant Cousins" My 17 yr. old son does graphics/camera work as well as, my husband on a voluntary basis. The show can be seen MOST Thurs. night at 8:00 central. This is carried on local cable only [I think} They sometimes have featured guest, local artist, etc...
You can also catch "the Lonely Pines" at The Old Town Tavern, Gadsden, AL [same area---matter of fact; keep N on hwy 431 into Gadsden.]
Back in the 1970's the University [Jax State] featured some great artist such as Stephen Stills, Linda Rondstant, The Buckingham Nicks...where THEY announced that they would be teaming up with Fleetwood Mac, there were many others yet that was a long time ago....Alabama is not ALL rednecks, not even the Bluegrass folks. Thanks kellyjpk

Tim,
Sorry you had to cancel out on the Omaha trip. We now have a nice location for contemporary smooth jazz at the Ozone. Steve Raybine Band has played there 3 times since Janaury. Raybine was one of the 6 wonder boys from Eastman School of music, along with his buddy, Rick Braun, back in the late '70's. He has a terrific band that has appeared on the card with Braun at the Omaha Riverfront Jazz Festival. Steve has played with Rick on a number of occasions and I've met Rick twice now, once in Denver with Steve and once in Omaha. You need to add Raybine's music to the Rick Braun radio station; they feed off each other in concert and remain best of friends. Check out my recent photos from the Ozone on Steve's website, www.steveraybine.com (photos 25-54 and opening Gallery) or other photos from the Breckenridge Jazz Festival in Colorado on his or mine, www.cardinalentertainment.com . I'd send you a courtesy CD, Bad Kat Karma, (BAD KAT Records) if you'd like. Let me know where to send it.

There is no trek to Nebraska...sad. Lincoln, uh, Omaha? That is dissapointing, as "there is nice happenings here", as some guy might say.
Slowdown has a front room, and a nice big open room, and is the new home of Saddle Creek, ask for Rob Nansel, "jim sent you". There are dozen's of great venues, latge, small and everything in-between. The Waiting room, in the Benson district, is very nice - I was fortunate enough to have seen The Gore Gore Girls there when they rolled into town over the winter. Murphy's, BarFly, and O'Leaver's book great touring bands, as does Mick's (Benson), McKenna's, and Shea Riley's, too. Haven't even talked 'bout Lincoln.
I can hook you up with all the great ethnic food Omaha has offered the world for decades - no one should go without: Bohemian Cafe (awesome Czech food) Greek Islands, Malara's Italian Ristorante, Lo Sole's Italian, Johnny's Steak House, Piccolo's Italian Steakhouse, The Indian Oven, Butsy Ledouex's(Cajun),Vivace's (Italian) Thai Pepper, Los Portales (Mexican) El Alamo (Mexican)El Dorado, La Hacianda, Elvarado's (all Mexican)La Casa Pizzaria (best pizza on the planet...you think I would joke about this?), BiG Fred's Pizza Garden, Sortino's Pizza, Mama's Pizza, Huber Haus and Beertopia (German food, German Bier!OkToberFest!)Gerda's (German)Dinker's (Best Burgers)church festivals in South Omaha: Polish food at St. Stanislaus, Czech/Serbian/Croatian food at Sts. Peter and Paul, Irish food at St. Marys, and St Patrick's, Greek food at St. John Orthodox, Mexican food at Out Lady of Guadalupe, fish fry's/beer crawl at Holy Name Church (7 days a year, largest restaurant in the state...)- jim

Another vote for Madison, WI. Large student population plus a capitol city (meaning lots of adults too). And musicians! I particularly like the guy in the traffic-cone-orange jumpsuit who plays the flute on summery days by the Memorial Union. Best time to visit is in the summer - the Union Terrace hosts several musical acts.

Hi!
I know you've been to Nashville, but just south (and over the state line) is the small city of Huntsville, AL. We have several excellent musicians and songwriters (...Dave Anderson, Toy Shop) and some fun venues (KaffeKlatch) that you might want to check out. We even have a songwriters' showcase about every other month in the civic center! Let me know when you might hit town and we will have a party to introduce them to you!

you are missing out on an awesome location. Fayetteville ar. Some bands such as Leftover Salmon love it, Govt mule. Fayetteville is a college town. It is also a jam band haven. You wont be disappointed by the atmosphere. Try to locate somewhere on Dickson street. Hippies, frats, and in between all come down. Some surrounding areas such as pedigru (forget the spelling) have been known to throw some festivals. i just moved to Tulsa Ok which is also another wonderful place to see. If Jerry can sing about it, you can visit. I would definitely travel home to Ar if you could come. This is wonderful what you have here. You need to hook up with Sirius.

Hi Tim!
Please stop by Albuquerque, NM! I would suggest to meet up at UNM (University of New Mexico), Student Union or some local favorite restaurants, cafes, e.g. Frontier, Garduno's, Route 66 diner, Flying Star, Satellite etc. If it's spring/summer, The Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater might be an excellent venue. Well, they might charge pretty good, though...
Definitely look forward to your visit!

I see that you already know about Las Vegas, the self-proclaimed "Entertainment Capital of the World," so I will tell you about a band based there that isn't in your system yet: Poppermost is an original indie sunshine pop band that doesn't perform live, but they are all over the web. Try a Google search for "pop" and "band", Poppermost is usually on the first page of results. Or do a search for "poppermost" to see where you can find the band. Their main website is at http://www.Poppermost.com/ , their MySpace page is at http://www.MySpace.com/Poppermost , and they have an EPK on OurStage at http://www.OurStage.com/epk/Poppermost .

MILWAUKEE WISCONSIN. Please come and hang out in what Forbes Magazine has call America's Drunkest City. If I were you though I wouldn't schedule anything now being that everything is covered in the white stuff. Come during Summerfest (one of the nations largest music fests). 10 days of music on Milwaukee's lakefront in June. There are plenty of other venues being that Milwaukee is home to UW Milwaukee, Marquette University, and MATC. There are plenty of other school surrounding the city. We have great places to eat and drink. Why not come to Milwaukee to share your wonderful radio station with us.

Jim from Omaha already mentioned some of the best music venues in town, so let me mention some of the best bands and musicians in the Omaha/Lincoln area: Criteria, Anchondo, Race For Titles, Eagle*Seagull, Cursive, The Good Life, Sarah Benck and the Robbers, The Whipkey Three, The Mezcal Brothers, Forty Twenty, SOJH (Straight Outta Junior High), Go! Motion, The Faint, Mal Madrigal, Kyle Harvey, Shiver Shiver, Anniversaire, The Mercurys, The Kris Lager Band... I could go on, really. The pool of talent in Nebraska really is amazing, as is the variety of styles. You can also check out www.slamomaha.com for info on the music scene here.

Well, since you have not been to New Mexico, perhaps you should try the flavor of Taos. Laid back little ski town situated at the south end of the Rocky Mountains, full of unique and colorful individuals, definately what you won't find in "normal" towns, home of many young and talented musicians (and ones that have been around the block a few times). Taos is where I learned of Pandora.... keep playin'!

Pandora is a great radio station/(personal box of songs) that you can listen to according to your own schedule.
I would like to bring up one scenario. Suppose you don't know the song title or the artist's name, but you do know the TYPE of music.
I, for one, would like to not only see 'Song', and 'Artist' prompts but a music 'TYPE' prompt.
I'm beginning to like classical music but I know very few artist's names.
Cheers

The Zoo Bar in Lincoln, Nebraska has been the site of many classic blues artists as well as Zydeco, Tex-Mex, Rockabilly, Punkabilly and just about every other combination you might think of. It is a funky, quirky place with tons of "personality". I would also recommend seeing the talented and lyrically hilarious Charlie Burton playing anywhere in Lincoln, he is truly unique.

I would like to invite you to our small town, to hear 3 great local groups, during a festival in July 2010.
The name of the festival is, "Festival of Memories."
The name of the three group.
"One-a-Chord"
an a cappella group, singing, Do-whoop along with some gospel.
Their style and sound will surprise you.
"Streamline", a country and rock band with a fantastic, young female singer.
"Attaboy Luther", a rock band with some 25 years of history under different band names.
Yes, its a small town in West Virginia, but I think you might be surprised, with the amount of talent that can be found in just these three groups. (There are others and all great!)
The Town is New Martinsville, WV, about 40 miles south of Wheeling. (Oh and only 30 miles south of Glen Dale WV... ever heard of Brad Pasley?)
The date July 17, 2010 on Main Street, music starts around 2pm. Enjoy the day, the events and music.

Hey there Tim,
So by now it's been a few years since you began your roadtrip and wondering if this is an on going thing or if you're done but all of us Pandora fans are just simply clueless? Regardless, I'm gonna give this a try cause you missed a diamond in the ruff, and you were so close. I live in Lawrence, Ks, which is just about 30 min from K.C. Mo, which is where you were when at the Sprint campus. Now we have a lil campus of our own that I'm sure you've heard of called Kansas University, Go Jayhawks!! Naturally in a college town you have the bars. However, we have a few extraordinary ones, namely "The Bottleneck", "Replay", "Liberty Hall", and an oldtime movie theater-turned bar called "The Granada". Alot of , now famous, musicians got their start at these places, and you missed them. Ooohhh and ya were sssoo close. So my husband and I got to thinkin, you need to back the truck up and hit our town. We'd be more than happy to be your personal tour guides, as he's lived here all his life and I've been here 20+ years. So hit I-70 from Denver or St. Louis, whichever way you'd be travelin from and then you'll never have to say, "Gosh, I regret not makin it to K.U. town and meeting that great couple, the Vaughns". C'mon, pack lite and get yer clan in gear, get here, we'll have beer, no fear, my cookin is the bomb, or I'll eat yer rear...uumm naw yer ear eww no not that either, oh or I'll drink yer beer! Yep, that's it. I will drink yours and your crews beer, if my cooking is not exceptional. I hate beer, so ya see that is why it makes it a "bet", if you will.
Sincerely,
Melissa "Mickey" Vaughn

How about the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas?
It's every year in October, and features some of the great known, and not so known blues artists of all time.
Last year was their 25th Anniversary, and to celebrate, they featured BB King, Taj Mahal, and Dr. John as their head lineup.
I've also seen Ike Turner and Al Green play here.
Its just a stone's throw from the famed Crossroads of Hwy 61 and 49, where Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil.
Lots of great food and culture to take in in this area.
