How about a trip to the UK - Brighton????
Posted by: Paul Nicholson at August 23, 2006 08:06 AM
I live in South Portland, Maine. Walt Craven, the lead singer for a band called Lost on Liftoff, lives across the street from me. He used to front a band called 6Gig and has been named best vocalist several years in a row in the local Portland Phoenix. Anyhow, great guy, great music, so I thought I'd let you know. Their website is www.lostonliftoff.com.
Plenty of great music here in the Portland area just waiting for you!

I am a music junkie, always trying to listen and learn about anything new, but more important, anything that is really good. I recently heard the lead singer of a local group called Royal Bliss. He has a deep rich voice, and it is very expressive. I urge you to check them out either here in Salt Lake City, or in Las Vegas, where they play frequently.

hey i know of a really good artist yall should add to this excellent site. his name is Corey Smith, he is a acoustic country folk rock type guy, his songs are awesome. he has a few cd's out. so check him out guys.
Posted by: austin at August 24, 2006 10:57 PM
First, thank you for a GREAT service! I, for one, really appreciate what you guys are doing for the rest of us.
I'd like to see three items added to your list of possible improvements:
1. I note that many of the song titles entered result in multiple performers, but often not the "name brand" performer. More "name brand" artists would be nice.
2. It would be beneficial to me to be able to enter a "type" of music. Examples include: "Big Band" or "Vintage Country", and have the system generate a profile from that entry.
3. Although I believe you're working on it, classical would be a nice addition.
Again, thank you for your efforts! You help make my day just a little brighter!

Yes, I think Las Vegas would be a great place to come. I am new here and need to learn more about the music scene (if there is one!)

in the NYC area, check out a great local band a brooklyn pal turned me onto: the wax poetics (i think they have a myspace page). i swear they're channeling the jayhawks! thx for a great site.

We had Son Volt play in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 24. It was a fantastic show-one of the best we've had here in quite some time. The opening artist was Evan Phillips. He is in a local band called the Whipsaws. Unfortunately, I don't know a lot about the band, but they are getting a good bit of attention here. I plan on listening to them and perhaps y'all might want to as well.
This is a great website. Thanks very much for the project!
Posted by: Bobby at August 26, 2006 08:31 AM
What a great gift you are offering the public. Thank you for all of the time and effort you all have put into this project!! Word is getting around on the Singer/Songwriters forums about your website.
Please consider a stop in ST. Louis, MO. I can suggest several top notch artists that hail from here. Specically, The Orbits a rockabilly all orginal music. The Lonesome Pines, bluegrass band and again mostly original music. Like some Cajun, know of that band also. St. Louis has been known for producing great artists and we are still at it. If you need any help locating good music in the St. Louis, MO....again, thanks sooo much.

I think you should Visit Bardstown, Kentucky. It's a nice little town with some good talent and great music from local bands. Also i think you should be able to make stations based on genres, for example i love christian rock like relient k and tree63. If you could make genres stations it would be great. Thanks U guys Rock

Posted by: DM at August 28, 2006 11:44 PM
I am a new listener to Pandora, because one of my American friends told me about you.
I've made several 'radiostations', but I wonder if it is possible to shuffle from one station to another or play one song from the first station, than from the second etc.
This gives more diversity.
Or you could make a station for a musicstream (bluegrass, r&b, R&R, gospel, folk etc).
But all in all I'm grateful that you started
this program.

Hi, I am from Teutônia, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. I don´t can speak english very well, by I try to make me understood. I acess the pandora site, and listen some music that the site find to me. I had like very much the site, and stay very sad when discovered that only the americans can make an account. How can I acount here in Brasil? When the site will (expand)? to others countries? Congratulations for the magnific idea!

What a fantastic service!! I stumbled upon the site and am hooked. I teach employment skills in high school. Your site is the perfect example of making your future happen in this tech world!! It also allows us to have great background music while we're working (and I can control it) and introduces us to a variety of genres and new artists in our favorite fields. Thanks!!!!

Come to Minnesota and sample the many fine musicians we have to offer. My favorite local artist, who I don't think has had a lot of national attention yet, is Mark Mallman. He's an outstanding song writer, but an even more amazing showman. If you ever have Mark Mallman coming through your town be sure to check him out. If not just to see him wildly hump his keyboard then to listen to his great music.
If you're interested in a particular CD to listen to, I would recommend Live from First Avenue.
Posted by: Joe at August 29, 2006 02:59 PM
Excellent site!! I can't go back to streaming radio ever again. How about a stop in southern Connecticut? Great bands - Wingnuts, South Broadway Rhythm and others. I agree that classical would be a nice addition. Keep up the awesome project!!!!!! Much success.

Come to Wisconsin!!! You especially need to visit McAuliffe's Pub in Racine, WI. JJ, the owner, is a musician, and is really great about promoting independent music.
Two bands you need to check out:
The Sandcarvers
Brother (www.brothermusic.com)
Nothing like them, ESPECIALLY BROTHER!!

a nebraska visit would be nice, and any library would be willing to let you hold a presentation.

When in Nebraska, make sure to hit Duffy's Tavern or Knickerbockers in Lincoln and Sokol Underground/Auditorium in Omaha. A lot of people have a misconception that there is no music coming out of Nebraska, and a lot of those that think there is music in Nebraska think it's all like Saddle Creek. There's a lot more to it than that. Lincoln has quite a diverse array of bands. Check out starcityscene.com to learn more about Lincoln and slamomaha.com for Omaha.

I would highly recommend coming to check out Lincoln or Omaha, NE. With the recent success of Saddle Creek Records, indie rock has been burgeoning here. We've even got a three day music festival coming up on Sept. 14-16 named 'Lincoln Calling' featuring several shows at various venues each night.

Missed U when U came to DC but do not forget about Balitmore, MD. It is a great city for music lovers, more diversed than DC.
Also I did a survey with Sony Music and it asked what I listen to when I am on the Internet and of course the answer was Pandora,
Thanks

Great idea! I'd love to see you come to St. Louis. Our city hosts Twangfest each year, and it's a terrific music festival. There are several outstanding music venues here - Off Broadway, Broadway Oyster Bar, Blueberry Hill - The Duck Room, The Pageant, Mississippi Nights, and too many excellent blues clubs to even name. Also - St. Louis is home to the very best community radio station anywhere - KDHX 88.1. You can stream this station to sample some of the great programming.

I love listening to Pandora, especially at work. It reminds me of my college radio days. Choosing what I want to hear, even if the sounds are in total contrast. For stops a long your tour, I would definitely suggest UConn in Connecticut. I'm sure you could even sway some 91.7 WHUS DJs into listening to Pandora when they're not near a radio.
Posted by: Rachelle at August 30, 2006 07:16 PM
I think what you are doing is awesome and quite an adventure! I see you are coming near Delaware (not sure when). Delaware has a vibrant, diverse music scene that you definitely do NOT want to miss. We are home to the critically acclaimed Dewey Beach Music Conference (www.deweybeachfest.com) going on September 28 - October 1st of this year! 175 bands from Delaware and from the US and Canada on over 2 dozen stages in one town - and all the shows are free to the public, and in walking distance of each other. If you can, you MUST come to this conference. You will leave with some amazing music!
Delaware is also home to the Newark Film Festival (www.NewarkFilm.com, going on Sept. 7 - 10), which will feature 21 indie films and 18 local musical acts.
Delaware is also proud of a blossoming radio show called Hometown Heroes, which airs every Sunday night on the biggest commercial radio station, 93.7 WSTW. Check it out at http://www.wstw.com/heroes/?num=6. Hometown Heroes, hosted by Mark Rogers, plays local musicians regularly, giving them exposure on a big commercial radio station.
University of Delaware is a breeding ground for budding musicians. I myself started my musical career while attending UD. Many many other great bands and solo musicians have attended UD, including Omnisoul, who signed with Wind Up Records and appeared on the Fantastic Four Soundtrack. My own band, Mythica, is made up entirely of UofD alumni and students. We recently opened for the Spin Doctors and Sister Hazel, and have been gaining lots of exposure. Check us out at http://www.MythicaMusic.com.
Every month there is something going on in Delaware that is local/indie music related, so it's hard to list everything. But I would LOVE if you guys came to Delaware. If you decide to, please do and I would be happy to personally show you around, give you the tour and point out the best places to stay, eat and of course, listen to amazing music!
Thanks,
Melissa Cox

I'm sure that KSLU, the student-run radio station here at St. Louis University would love to organize something for a Pandora event/have Pandora come to SLU. We have a pretty diverse student body, so I think the turn-out to a possible Pandora event on or near campus and input submitted by students would be immense. Please consider it!
Also, I too would like to thank you for your service. I'm always looking for new music, and I have absolutely fallen in love with Pandora.

Hey guys! First, I want to say thanks for all that you do. I've found a lot of great new artists from your site. I noticed that Maryland isn't listed on your road tour (which is probably ok, because the music scene around here isn't exactly stellar), but if you do happen through the area, make sure you stop at a Record and Tape Traders store. There are a bunch in the Baltimore area. And while it's certainly no Easy Street Records (my favorite record store out in Seattle), its the best indie record store in the area. Thanks!
Posted by: Amanda at August 31, 2006 07:27 AM
Pandora has become a favorite for the sound system at the liquor store where I work. So you've got a least a few fans in Norman, OK.
If you're ever in town you need to come by Joe's Place Wines on Alameda and see what's on. University town, too. Go Sooners!

Hey thanks for the great music. I love listening. I live in Montana. What a PERFECT place for Pandora to go!! It's almost a perfect bullseye!! I mean you guys hit the music listening world right on the spot, now just bring it to the perfect place.
Why heck even Steve Fosset began his world famous flight with his Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer here in Salina AND landed here safely too.
We got great music here to to check out.

I'm a huge music fan and have been using pandora for about a year now. I would love it if you would bring your tour to some colleges in Kentucky. I think my state is starving for some decent and listenable music. I'm a senior here at Murray State University and our only means of new music is MTVu channel on tv. So please please please consider coming to some colleges here. Thanks

- The Empty Glass
- Capitol Roasters
- Mountain Stage - at the Cultural Center and across the State.
Roasters has local talent every weekend, blues, jazz, folk.
The Empty Glass has wide variety.
Mountain State attracts a lot of local and some non-local talent and broadcats it's radio show to a national audience. Some bigger names who have and will appear are Nora Jones, Emmalou Harris, Bruce Hornsby, Alison Krauss, Joan Biaz. A lot of good locals also.

I want to invite you to come on out to Tulsa and spend some time at Cain's Ballroom. The music has been happening there for over 75 years. The broad music variety available in Oklahoma is staggering. Everything from "Oklahoma" to Garth Brooks to the Red Dirt Rangers to The All American Rejects to Wyman Tisdale. The music is fine here.

Hey you all need to come somewhere in the area around Miami, Oklahoma. I'm sure theres tons of local kids who'd love to help out your project. My only problem with your music player is you keep giving me STYX as similar matches for The Transplants. Honest what's up with that?
Posted by: Josh Mahurin at September 4, 2006 11:12 AM
Hey. I think what you are doing with this music genome project is great and revolutionary especially since we are living in a time of creative stasis. So to further your cause I think you should definitely come to baltimore, Md. Coming from D.C. I can compare that scene to where I currently live in Baltimore. I have to say that we have a diverse arts and music scene, with local places like Sonar, the Talking head, and the Walters art museum which features muscial performances that ranges in variety from jazz to classical. Also, this is a college town with over six different campuses full of avid music listeners. So please stop by, you'd be welcome.

Portland, Maine! There's Space Gallery (this month they have Mason Jennings and Elf Power playing, among other bands and events), the Station, a venue that plays a lot of punk, hardcore, and alternative bands (Head Automatica, Against Me!, and As Tall as Lions are a few bands I've seen there), and the Big Easy, a bar that plays a lot of smaller, emerging bands like Portland-based Acta Non Verba and Boston ska band Big D and the Kids Table. There's also Merrill Auditorium, which occasionally wil have really cool shows like Bright Eyes (but usually sticks to classic music and plays and things like that). Okay, I could go on and on about places to buy music and eat and hang out and talk about music and all that, but I guess just email me if you're interested in coming to Maine... Or talk to someone! Cause Portland's awesome.
Ps, thank you New York Times for telling me about Pandora! I love it, I've already found a new band I really like.

Just learned of yur site this past labor day weekend. It kicks butt!! I've already created 5 different stations for my listening pleasure. I just love it, as your site says you have become my new DJ's. One suggestion I have is to list on your site with each song the year it was published/written. I used to have a vast 1000+ album collection and could find these dates myself (helps to settle arguments on when a song came out or who did it first) but my collection was destroyed during moving, I cried for hours. Anyway another suggestion would be a trip to Lincoln, NE home of the Cornhuskers. There are alot of great bars and nightspots with local bands from all genres- Rock, Blues & Jazz, and of course in Omaha you have alot of the slam dancing punkers and other alternative music. Keep up the good work.

If you like big band music then I have the stop for you. Think about Fort Dodge, Iowa at the Bohemian Hall. Lots of polka and big band music with the largest and the best dance floor that I have seen. I think that this is a great site and I also recommended this site to my father-in-law who loves hard to find music. Thanks and keep up the great music!!!

I noticed you were heading to Seattle, WA but how about a little east from there. I am in Northern Idaho, but figure you might make a trip to Spokane, WA. Otherwise, Coeur d' Alene, Idaho is absolutely the most beautiful place in all of Idaho.

Iowa City, Iowa continues to draw in national acts and even manages to catch quite a few right before they go big. We just finished Mud River V, featuring almost all local acts out of eastern Iowa. Swing through when you can!

Hey man...sure like the way you all put in something new that I'd never heard of before. As you may know by my stations, I really like an array of music. I have to tell ya, I juat like music and I've even sung a little bit myself. However that is another story. I do know a couple of local groups here near Augusta, Kansas. They're Christian groups. Let me know if you'd like to hear them sometime, but you'd have to talk to them about playing their music though. Keep up the great work!

Draw a triangle between Dallas, Denver & Indianapolis and close to the middle you'll find Fayetteville Arkansas. Pandora should definately put us on the map. Make your way to Dickson St. and collect a crowd of locals and University of Arkansas students at just about any of the fine eating/drinking and music venue establishments the street has to offer. And talk about a scenic locale residing in the Ozarks! Come on- you'll love it here!!

Just want to show some love to Pandora... you are my obsession. I have found more new, great music through there than through any other means, I love it! It looks like you won't be hitting Utah, big mistake! We've got so much great, local music, one in particular that you would just drool over.. Kalai, he currently has 3 albums, "Accoustacism" "Six Strings and the Rainy Day Man" and "Rebel Hands". It's totally worth your while to check him out. Thanks!

I enjoyed my first experience with pandora yesterday. Apparently the project hasn't done much yet with classical music. I suppose you could eventually do say an Edvard Grieg station that would mostly consist of music from grieg, dvorzak, debussey, and other such artists. I'm afraid I'm pretty easy listening in my music philosophy. The backstage feature is really interesting.

I would love to hear what you guys have to say. If you put Baltimore on your list I am there.
Baltimore has some great concert venues with a thriving rock scene. A lot of the acts that roll through the 9:30 club in DC stop by the 8 x 10 in Baltimore. There is always Sonar and the Ottobar for good local and indie music. You should come check it out on your tour.

Get some passports and head outside the states for a while next summer. The planet's biggest Jazz festival is in Montreal (28 June to 8 July 2007 is the next edition http://www.montrealjazzfest.com/), which also hosts the Francofolies (French music) http://www.francofolies.com/, but I'm not sure what the 2007 dates are. But hang around after Jazz fest and go to Quebec City for the Festival d'été (http://www.infofestival.com/), lots of different kinds of music there; that will happen in early July 2007. Book your hotel rooms now!

There's a reason acts like Prince, Husker Du, & Soul Asylum have gotten their start here.. an act to check out - if they're playing - would be the Suburbs. St Louis is a great place to go and see awesome ORIGINAL local bands as well as bigger names and fun venues. These 3 are right next to eachother: BB's Jazz Blues & Soups, Beal on Broadway & the Oyter Bar. One of my other favorites is Felix's in Dogtown (@Clayton & Tamm), any Thursday or Friday you'll find good music there. And of course, Soulard, The Loop and the clubs on Washington St. downtown. Check out www.stlblues.net; www.thevenicecafe.com and www.riverfronttimes.com. You have a lot of supporters in Saint Louis that would be really dissapointed if you didn't stop and see us!

I highly suggest a road trip to Alaska. If you really want to see more green than you have ever seen, plus the most beautiful mountain ranges in the USA, then Alaska is the state for you. If you travel in the summer you can experience life under the midnight sun, and also some wonderful local music such as the Anderson Bluegrass Festival, or the Fairbanks Folk Festival. For some great rock check out Gangly Moose.
There are some amazing artists in the AK. 36 Crazyfists originated in Anchorage. Also you should listen to The Roman Candles, another Alaskan original. If you do make it up to the great north, and you find yourself in Fairbanks (My hometown) then be sure to visit the University Of Alaska Fairbanks and check out their sound auditorium called "The Place Where You Go To Listen". It is a sound and light environment created by composer John Luther Adams. This ever-changing musical ecosystem takes the rhythms of daylight and darkness, the phases of the moon, the seismic vibrations of the earth and the dance of the aurora borealis in real time, and translates them into sounds audible to the human ear. Truly amazing!

Don't bother coming to Vegas unless all you want to do is just chill and do the tourist thing.
There is no culture here...when I try to explain Pandora to people, they look at me like I just started speaking Lithuanian or something.
Radio here pretty much sucks. It's pretty much all Corporate Radio: Clear Channel/Lotus/Beasley same 20 "songs" over and over. If it's not on the "radio" or MTV, no one here's heard of it, nor do they care to.
Sad sad sad. Thank the gods and goddesses for the Internet!!
I'd love to come to the next Meetup y'all have...in Los Angeles!

Just to reiterate, Oklahoma is a great place for music. The Greenwood District of Tulsa is famous for being the Black Wall Street of America before the race riot of 1921 that economically and physically devastated the predominately African American neighborhood.
However, musical traditions have persisted and the area now boasts a blues and jazz festival that is top notch for the Mid and Southwest.
In addition, many musicians call Oklahoma home, including Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey.
Please do consider visiting us!

You guys should make a stop in St. Louis Mo. Aside from a lot of great venues around here, (Lemp Arts Center, the Gargoyle, The Pageant, The Creepy Crawl, Mississipi Nights, the list goes on) There are alot of Universities that would love to host something... I go to Webster University, SLU (St. Louis University) would be another great stop, and Washington University St. Louis even has it's own venue (The Gargoyle) so I'm sure they'd host something!

I'd reiterate that Madison, WI is well worth a stop... especially if you're already travelling to Chicago and the Twin Cites (as we're smack-dab between them!).
There's more than 2 handfuls of small-medium size venues that still give you an intimate-feel but give you the right ambiance for rock shows. The places of note are: The High Noon Saloon, The Annex, The Terrace at the Memorial Union of Univ. of Wisconsin, The Dry Bean... along with many of the trendy bars and clubs up by the Capitol (Cafe' Montmarte, Club Majestic, The Orpheum, The Barrymore).
We've had a few big names come of out of Madison, and a bunch of smaller names that hopefully will get signed someday too. Regardless, Madison is a great city for live tunes all across the stylistic spectrum. Give it some consideration!

Hey I was just wondering if Pandora will ever have a unit that you can put in your car's dash board and listen to it when your driving. I think their would be a big demand for this kind of thing (as in you would blow xm/satilite radio right out of the water!). Even a walkmen type unit just so we the people have a nice portable unit. I'd pay $50 a month for something like that (and I'm a broke ass college student). Anyways keep doing what your doing we love it and hopefully I'll see a response to this when you get a chance. -- Peace, Mikey (Minnesota)

first off... i just want to say that pandora is an incredible idea, one i think that alot of programmers would have shied(sp?) away from. second, theres a local group i really dig from this area (montana) called the "high poet society"... they bill themselves as hip-hop, but its much more melodic than your average "im better than you" rap portrayal. also, they are nothing of the gangsterish sort. it really is worth a listen. i believe the main site is http://www.highpoetsociety.com, but their frontman posts alot of music on his myspace at http://www.myspace.com/hiphoplsr
i also have a bunch of cds, these guys dont have national distrobution yet, but i could email you a zip file with a bunch of mp3s in it if you'd like.

Been a while since I have left a note on your travels. But firstly, I must say that Pandora is growing into a station that I can not live without. Thank you all so much for all the hard work you are putting into this project.
It looks like you are making a trip that could easily take you through St. Louis, MO. OH! MY you are missing many great bands in this city. I would love to help you discover them. As you well know St. Louis has been the home of many famous artists and St.Louis is still producing them. Please contact me if you would like some suggestions.....

Tim / Tom / Team,
Don't forget the center of the music universe - Lawrence, Kansas. Home of the University of Kansas. Previous home of the legendary Outhouse where bands such at The Descendents, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Meat Puppets and Minutemen played before moving on to bigger venues downtown like The Kansas Union, The Granada and Liberty Hall...
It's also the childhood home of lead singer/guitarist Brian O. of the band .22 who's currently touring with his new band Bottomless Pit.

Sunset Jazz in Frederiksted, on the beautiful Caribbean Island of St. Croix, is a community event offered on the third Friday of each month. Admission is free and families are welcome. Residents and visitors alike meet, mingle and enjoy great jazz wafting over the waters of the Frederiksted harbor, as well as the guarantee of a beautiful sunset in this wonderful park setting. Hosting locally and internationally acclaimed jazz artists, Sunset Jazz in Frederiksted has received an enthusiastic reception in its six years existence, and has become a much anticipated monthly island event.
I retired here in 2004, and besides the friendly people, I think Sunset Jazz was one of the events that convince me to stay. Come on down and visit us. Bring your beach chair or just purchase one here.

In this times of globalization music in spanish is a good choice for all the latino comunity not only in the US, but all over the world, so I suggest to include more spanish singing artist remembering though that not every track in spanish has to be salsa, merengue or raeggeton, there are thousands of rithms: pop, rock, bolero, etc. I recomend you to check the popularity lists in each country like Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Colombia... don`t rely too much in the lists of rolling stone or billborad they talk about latin music in the US, not in the source countries, that's why almost always people think merengue and salsa are the only true latin music...
Check out artists like "Heroes del silencio" "OV7" "Mecano" "El Tri" "Enanitos Verdes" "Timbiriche" "Fey" "Julieta Venegas" "Mijares" "Montaner" "Vicente Fernandez" "Javier Solis" "Los Panchos" "Raphael" "Radio Futura" and many many many many more from today and yesterday...

You all should come to Tulsa, OK. I've turned alot of friends on to Pandora. We have a lively Western Swing heritage. 80s/90s/00s trends include rockabilly, psychobilly, red dirt(stripped down bluegrass), a growing indie/electronic/avant-garde scene and alot of metal(south-midwest hybrid sounds). And there's hip-hop too, very much a clash between memphis-stl-atl club oriented stuff with the huge texas screwed stuff. The blow up of Texas has Oklahoma questionin where it stands in all of this.

I have been blown away by what you have available both in terms of your catalog of music and various genre but by the musicology you make available. I would be interested in plans you may have for a Tulsa stop. The Greenwood Cultural Center is host to the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. We have an active local music scene. The Spot Awards are an annual event to promote local talent that is very well attended.

Hello tim, I live in the great state of Alabama and i noticed that we weren't represented. We have several great recording studio's in the North West corner of Alabama . We have Fame Recording where the like's of Bob Dylan,The rolling Stones,Rod Stewart, and a host of people that are to many to name have come and laid down tracks. Our hayday was the early sixties when the greats like Otis Redding,Aretha Frankiln and Doby Gray would come and spend time in the area. We've had the Alabama Music Hall of Fame located here and we have a local music scene that is top notch. The Drive by Truckers,The wednesdays and Shenandoah all come from the area.Every year we hold the W.C.Handy blues festival that draws the best in blues, jazz and rock music. It is one week of music in just about every corner and venue that a drum kit, mike stand and amp can be stuck in.The festival brings in crowds that are from all over the world. It amaze's me the people from other countries that are fimilar with this area. They know the Muscle Shoals Horns,Sam Phillips,Eddie Hinton,Lenny leblanc,Mack McAnally,Muscle Shoals Rythem Section and The swamppers of Lynard Skynard fame. There are several people that are trying to get the old studio's restored to what they were like in there heyday.Well i guess i've pumped this blog with enough enfo for now.I also wont to let you know that i think this concept of a learning radio station is great.I can teach it the type of music i'm in the mood for.

(its not even on your itinerary)In the few years I've collected local music from there I would say Ive garnered about 50 albums of merit. Things I would recommend r 'Wookiefoot', 'Drunk & Disorderly', 'Tuesdays Robot', 'Danger boy & the Road Vultures' and 'Heiruspecs'. Also the best folk music collections in the world r 'The Secret Museum of Mankind'

It would be absolutely fabulous if you guys could make it to Albuquerque. Albuquerque is culturally diverse with its Spanish and Native American background intermingled with anglo-american and black populations, each adding its own flavors to the mix. There are several different possibilities for where we could meetup, and I'm not wise on the hip-hop scene, but I have found this locale to have a rich tapestry of music available for listeners.
Plus we have great restaurants, and plenty of things to do. (So maybe we'll see you?)

Why did you skip ALABAMA?
I am from Detroit; however, my musical tastes run from '50's-'60's R&B and Jazz to Early acid leading up to Woodstock during my collegiate stints in the D. C. area, enjoying country rock and bluegrass, also. Next was the New Mexico influence (limited music) '80's. Back to Michigan and Jazz with concerts and blues bars. Now sharing my diversified tastes with the locals here in Alabama. Huntsville is a melting pot of a variety of music. Y'all come on down. Ray

I don't know if you guys do anything in Canada but I have 4 amazing local talents to suggest.
Civil Savage is a local band in Edmonton, Alberta. They're death/melodic death metal. I'd have to say they have some pretty insane vocals and the guitarist is incredibly talented. I'm pretty sure they have a thing on myspace and purevolume.com. Just look for Civil Savage.
Ira Lee is another amazing artist. He's more rap/reggae. He's originally from Saskatchwan but I met him in Edmonton...If you go to (I think) www.sideroadrecords.com or it might be sidetrackrecords.com...you'll probably find him.
Brother Voodoo is a punk band from St. Albert, Alberta...very small town about 15 minutes outside of Edmonton....I haven't seen them live yet but i've heard demo cd's and they are pretty impressive.
And finally....the all amazing S.O.S. Probably the most talented local band I've heard yet. Their bassist is talented, he was my english teacher, ha. They consider themselves to be Universal Rock...and I would have to agree, you can't really classify them into one genre. Go to www.505sos.com and check them out.

Hi!
I was introduced to Pandora by a fellow co-worker about 2-3 weeks ago and I am absolutely thrilled with this site!!!! I love Christian and Contemporary Gospel music and this site is just heaven sent. I have been introduced to some new artists that I didn't even know existed before I listened to your station and I am so exited! Keep up the great work. There is one artist out there though, that I feel deserves some well needed recognition. His name is Tim Miner. He has worked with some big people in the music industry, but he has some music of his own out there. It would be nice to hear some of his music on Pandora. You can check him out at www.timminermusic.com. Thanks for all of the great music!!!! God Bless!!!

I've noticed you missed some great artists from Puerto Rico, Like Fiel a la Vega.
You should REALLY come visit Puerto Rico. Here you'll find great combinations of different styles within the same music. And it sounds great!!

Hey, you should come to Louisville, KY. We've got a great local music seen, check out Subrosa or Halfway Hollow. I think it'd be a city worthy of this amazing website haha.

Great idea.
The world is bigger than the US, though.
Most of the people I know over here use Pandora. Why not show some global recognition?

Hi,
I am a huge fan of Pandora, and am so happy you know who G.B. Leighton is. However, I think you need to visit Minneapolis, and check out the amazing music scene here. Keep up the great work, and as soon as you have a need for a mid-west office hit me up, I am willing to volunteer.

For a folk-y Downeast Maine experience, check out the older band called Schooner Fare. I think they are based out of Portland, Maine. They are as salty as Maine lobster.

So what's up with no South Carolina . I'm from Spartanburg , SC . Home of The Marshall Tucker Band . Toy Caldwell influenced a ton of Souther Musicians . Spartanburg is also home to Pink Anderson ( the Pink from Pink Floyd ) . So let's get with it and come to SC , particularly Spartanburg . Love Pandora Radio.

What can you say? Pandora is great! I thought you might not have "Little Esther" a black singer on the "chittlin circuit" back in the 50's. Not only did you have her, but many singers in her posse.
I have twenty channels just to zero in on the music I want to hear this particular minute.
Thannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnks!

Hey there, believe it or not, Kentucky's got alot going on when it comes to music! Here in Lexington especially, not only are there country and bluegrass music festivals all the time, there is a ton of new and fresh music/bands growing out of the garages! And luckily we just got a new bar/club opened up that loves to display the new and local talent! So we have the country and the rock scene- but we got a really good rap scene too! Several people working and recording in an "underground" garage rap studio, which turns out sounding amazing! Oh and if you're ever having a party around these parts, you never have to worry about entertainment, rock bands, "rap stars", what ever you could want, we got it! and everyone is just down for a good time! just a thought!

Hey Tim and Pandora Team,
I live in Canada on the west coast, the outdoor adventure capital of Canada, a place called Squamish! We are in between Vancouver, BC and Whistler Mounatin Ski Resort! Come visit and ski or board some of the most amazing terrain in the world...I love spreading the Pandora word, as a matter of fact..I am now getting people telling me about it, so it has come full circle.
Happy Ho Ho and much success for 2007 and beyond!
Happy Hugs

Come see us in Portland Maine. Just a quick trip north from Boston. Great local music scene here. We're nice folks and will show you a good time. Frommer's recently put us in their top 12 (in the whole wide world!) travel destinations for 2007. Check out the music on: Greetings from Area Code 207, now in 6 volumes. http://989wclz.com/gfac207_main.html
We love Pandora. You'll love Portland.

You should give Mpls/St Paul MN a try. We have a huge live music scene that features many original bands like Dazy Head Mazy, GB Leighton, Tim Mahoney, and many more. Lots of diversity and many unique clubs and acts. Give us a try! PS, I suppose I should mention that Prince is a resident too.

*cough* The internet is "Global" ya know...
so it sorta *leaks out* of the US into places like
Australia.
So what if I added another digit to my post- er
my "zipcode" yeah... zipcode *touches nose*.
I apparently live in florida now, so a friend tells
me, but you know, it's Christmas and it's feeling
kinda warm and summery and very Un-American.

In my humble opinion, some of the most brilliant and innovative musical artists and musicians in the world can be found in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Truly.
A few of the best:
Fog
Dosh
Happy Apple
Tapes 'N Tapes
Atmosphere
Brother Ali
POS
Fat Kid Wednesdays
Andrew Bird
Check them out (most of them) on Pandora.
Pandora is brilliant! Thanks!

Alabama...it's not just for rednecks anymore. We have the leading Indie radio program in the country (in my opine). Check out http://www.regscoffeehouse.com/ Reg lives in Bham, and his playlist gets copied by radio stations all over the country. Our local music scene is VERY diverse, featuring performances as different as "The Plot to Blow up the Eiffel Tower" to "Kris Kristoferson". We have "The Nick" (World famous as a stop for indie bands) and "The Bottletree Cafe" (Up and coming Indie venue) and "Workplay" (run by one of the original MTV VeeJays). We also have "The Garages" (pickes as one of the 50 bars you have to see before you die by several magazines). Come here, you won't be disappointed.
