As we usher in 2013, it’s time to look back at the music of 2012 with our array of End of Year Radio genre stations.

Some could call 2012 the year of the uber infectious pop songs. From Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe” and One Direction‘s “What Makes You Beautiful” to Fun.‘s “We are Young” and Taylor Swift‘s “We are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and we of course can’t forget Psy‘s mega-hit “Gangnam Style.” What song is still stuck in your head come the new year? Check out 2012 Top Pop Radio for a collection of such popular hits.

Although Adele produced another monster hit with “Set Fire to the Rain“, are Gotye‘s “Somebody that I Used to Know” and Ellie Goulding‘s “Lights” the most memorable songs for 2012? Hear such music on our 2012 Top Adult Radio and let us know what you think.

Newcomers sure made their mark on 2012 R&B and Hip Hop scene this year. 2 Chainz‘s “No Lie” was unstoppable, Trey Songz had multiple hits this year and Kendrick Lamar scored big with “Swimming Pools (Drank)“. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis also started to grab attention towards the end of this year. What’s your choice for the battle of the best R&B song: Frank OceanThinkin’ Bout You” or MiguelAdorn“?

Screen Shot 2013-01-02 at 10.44.48 AM.png2012 Top Hip Hop and Pop success stories mirrored last year with Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Kanye and Drake back for more. The 2nd half of the year delivered Kesha‘s “Die Young” and Juicy J‘s “Bandz That Make her Dance“, not to mention a strong return for Bruno Mars with “Locked Out Of Heaven“.

Skrillex wasn’t the only act bringing Dance and Electronic music to the masses in 2012. Swedish House Mafia and Deadmau5 joined David Guetta and Calvin Harris on the charts, while fresh sounds from Purity Ring, Flying Lotus and Hot Chip kept 2012 Dance and Electronic fresh.

Speaking of cutting edge, 2012 Top College Indie Radio features all the best breaking bands of the year. From Dirty Projectors, Ty Segall and Tame Impala to Santigold, Bat for Lashes and Japandroids. The long awaited return of Fiona Apple and the first solo from Father John Misty round out a big year for the indie music.

In 2012, Top Alternative music spawned some of the biggest mainstream hits: The Lumineers, Fun., Mumford & Sons and The Black Keys, and not to mention Gotye, all got their start in alternative.

If there’s ever a year that country out-rocked rock it was 2012, with songs like Randy Houser‘s “How Country Feels“, Eric Chruch‘s “Springsteen” and Dierks Bentley‘s “5-1-5-0.” Of course, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan lead the way again this year. Also on 2012 Top Country Radio you’ll hear young-bloods Hunter Hayes and Kacey Musgraves share the limelight with the likes of Taylor Swift.

On 2012 Christian Contemporary you’ll hear artists that have charted the most titles this year, including Third Day, TobyMac, Chris Tomlin and Newsboys. Top acts Casting Crowns, Mercyme and Needtobreath join newcomer Britt Nicole, who was recently nominated for a GRAMMY.

Romeo Santos, Don Omar and Prince Royce dominated 2012 Top Latin music along with Wisin & Yandel. 3Ball MTY is probably the newest act to reach the top of charts in 2012 and Mana is still proving to be relevant. Jenni Rivera‘s success continued despite her tragic death at the end of this year.

If catch up on jazz, check out 2012 Top Jazz Radio for critically acclaimed releases from Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding, Vijay Iyer and Trombone Shorty as well as vocal jazz featuring Diana Krall, Paul McCartney and Melody Gardot. The smooth side of Jazz this year is from Chris Botti, Boney James and Dave Koz.

Last but not least, our comedy curators have assembled the hilarious 2012 Top Comedy Radio featuring tracks from the likes of Jim Gaffigan, Hannibal Buress, Lewis Black and “that guy” named Louis CK.

We hope you enjoy revisiting your favorites of 2012 or discovering what you may have missed!

Happy New Year from the Pandora curators! We look forward to spending another year of musical delight with you in 2013!

Ron (Curation Team)

Thanks all you guys (and girls), for all the great work you've put into this program. Pandora has been an awsome tool. I spend a lot more time being productive, and a lot less time channel surfing the radio. I don't know the legality of it but something that I hope to see this year is, putting in a "Restart Song" button. Sometimes a song comes on that I haven't heard in years that I know that I'm going to want to listen it again. Other times I walk away for a few minutes and come back to catch the end of song that I really want to hear. Sure I can listen to the song on another site. But I have to exit Pandora first, to increase the internet speed. If you put in a restart button, you could still set limitations. For example: Only be able to press it once per song, Twice in a three hour period.
