Sioux Falls and Omaha

Well, we capped off the Dakotas/Nebraska tour with a lecture at Augustana College in Sioux Falls (thanks to the Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society) on Thursday and a terrific town hall that evening; then a meetup at the amazing Durham museum in Omaha last night (with a relaxing drive across the plains in between). We sure lucked out on the weather this trip. Not a flake of snow.

sd 3.jpgSioux Falls – thanks to Jeremy and the crew at the Museum for Visual Materials for being such a great host and for spreading the news locally. And what a turnout – around 250 people showed up for a very lively conversation – first time we’ve had more people show up than actually RSVPd. I learned something: classical music helps plants grow faster than rock music… That’s apparently been scientifically proven. Go figure.

Town Halls This Week: Fargo, Grand Forks, Sioux Falls, Omaha

In our ongoing quest to meet up with listeners across the country we’re headed to North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska, for visits that we had set up once before and had to reschedule at the last minute… I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. We’ll host Town Halls (see below) – very informal gatherings where I’ll share some Pandora history, some background on the Music Genome Project and talk about what’s ahead for Pandora. I also want to hear what’s on your mind – questions, complaints, ideas…everything is fair game. Direct listener feedback is one of the things that keeps us jazzed at Pandora. It should be a fun time, complete with free Pandora t-shirts!

Return to Nashville Recap…

Nashville, Nashville. What can you say. There’s just no place quite like it. I knew I was headed there when half the people I boarded the plane with were carrying instrument cases…
Had a terrific couple days. Started with pancakes at the Pancake Pantry, with the camera crew from DigForFire who have joined us for the roadtrip (keep an eye out for some cool road trip videos coming soon…they’re a very talented bunch – if you have a minute check out their great live video of St. Vincent performing live at Other Music in NYC… check it out) –

I recommend the ‘sugar and spice’ pancakes. Betty, who’s been slinging dishes for 37 years there took great care of us. Sweetheart. The extra carbs wound up coming in handy… what a day it became…
