Great Places To See Live Music: The Canyon Club
|
In our first-ever video podcast, we get to tour behind the scenes at the Canyon Club, a Southern California nightclub that has played host to a wide range of great shows. Aerosmith, Styx, the Neville Brothers, Boyz II Men, Berlin, Glen Campbell, Dave Chappelle and Queensryche have all played there, just to name a few. See where Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and Richie Sambora hang out near their homes in the Valley. |

Awesome! I love this place. Great interview and well done video. Well worth the watch.
Definitely makes me appreciate this great club more and since it's only a few minutes away from me I'll have to see more shows there.

Very cool. Lets see some performances now. It would be great if this could become what MTV was when I was a kid. That is, music videos. Not necessarily produced videos but just live music by bands, groups, singles or unique jam sessions on stage.

I love Pandora music I just wish we could seclect the music we want to listen to.
Posted by: cher at September 20, 2007 01:55 PM
Seems like a "cozy" venue. These type of venues make a listener feel like the band is playing strictly for them.
Great idea to have this video series of music venues. Try Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. Thanks to all at Pandora!!!

I rarely if ever comment on anything. Your station however is outstanding. I like all music I mean from New Orleans Jazz where jazz was born, I mean born, the only muscic that originated in the USA, to Pavoratti, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Muddy Waters etc. The only comment that I have is that sometimes you change the type of music that was clicked on originally, and never get back to it. What you play as a change is terrific but is not what was initially called for. Right now, I clicked on your Harry James that you are advertising, and Harry James played the first song and and you have played beautiful music, vintage Harry James era but not Harry James. It's not really an objection because the music is so good, I really don't care. You might call it, constructive criticism, (I hate the word criticism. I'm not criticizing you, it's just a constructive thought, if there is such a thing) What I'm Listening to now is so good that you should make one of your choices, "music of the Harry James era" Put into a new station choice. Constructive criticism, I hope. The music you're playing now is colossal Play on, Paul

i like these cozy little places where the artist is but a few feet from the audience..and it helps if there is a sightline..and good acoustics...there really should be more places like this..and thanks for reading this.

Very cool, that is a classic style club and if ever in that area will cruise by. Nothing like a small venue for intimacy, best place to hear bands. Which if you started to put music from a venue like this on your site, featuring a different venue then artist playing at that venue... sweeter-n-yoohoo.
Posted by: Nick at September 20, 2007 10:26 PM
That was a cool video. Make more please!

I'm enjoying Pandora a lot. I've done a quickmix of different stations to get some 60s oldies.
My wishlist would be:
1. Be able to pick music by genre, not just artist or song title,
2. Be able to create a station of Broadway show tunes, and
3. Be able to select classical music...opera arias, choral music, symphonies, concertos, etc.
Thanks

i don't care to watch video's about places i'll never go!

What a nice guy...He looks like he could be a bouncer...but comes off relaxed and nice. I am 75 and remember so many places from the Copa in New York to great places in Peoria, Illinois. Folks are lucky to have a place like that...certainly none here in Peoria anymore...once the wide open bawdy town of the past. Norm

WOW that Podcast was cool. Just when I think you guys cant get any better. Then BLAM!,ZOOM!POW! You come up with something new. Oh by the way, that new sort stations by link is killer. I got a email the other day announcing that feature. And it dawned on me at the Pandora Seattle Conference that someone had asked about adding a feature that was similiar to that. I love entertaiment that listens to its audience instead of the audience that just listening to the entertainment.
As a loyal listener, I hate to come across as being greedy. But I am human, so give us more :)

Your intro asked for best places to include:
Minneapolis- the First Avenue of course.
Pandora people could really appreciate the history of a place like the First Avenue; what a hotbed of amazing talent in a cold climate.
Do the video. Thanks
Posted by: Susan G at September 23, 2007 11:15 AM
Yes yes! Susan, I would LOVE to see the First Avenue. Know how many times I've watched Purple Rain?
Ah, to be purified by the waters of Lake Minnetonka. ;)
Walt and Rob - I will work on getting a larger size for the videos. Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks to Pandora Radio, I have been enjoying superb
entertainment. Thank you for the memories and excellent music.
I'm so impressed, I told my family and friends that Pandora is available with personal interests. Create your own stations ... What more can you ask for??
I appreciate the music you have been providing for me.
Thank You,
Leigh Thomas

Pandora Radio is like having your own endless collection of music. You don't have to dust it or worry about where you are going to keep all that music.
Thank You,
Leigh

the dodge theather in phoenix arizona...great venue small enough that theres not a bad seat in the house..but big enough for comfort for both the performer and fans.....the sound is phenominal.accustic wise..saw tori amos and yoav..on the 11th of dec really was nice to be part of the whole experience ...cozy but rocked ....both tori and yoav but i think it wouldnt have been such a great concert had it been at any other venue...

Love the way they explained how the mixer does his work, and that he hears what the audience hears. Would love to be involved in that kinda entertainment. Cool place.
