Artist Debuts

The Vamps

Screen Shot 2014-08-18 at 10.36.06 AMThe Vamps are a British pop band that formed in 2012 and immediately signed to Mercury Records. They have toured as support for artists like McFly, The Wanted, Little Mix and Demi Lovato. Their debut EP Somebody To You features the charting singles “Wild Heart” and “Somebody To You,” with guest vocals by Demi Lovato.

You Me and Apollo

This Fort Collins, Colorado-based band specialize in “…stompy blues and sing along folk rock with hints of psychedelic and soul music.” Their debut album Sweet Honey was produced and engineered by Jeff Powell (Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Big Star, Sharon Jones) at the famed Ardent Studios in Memphis. In addition to playing festivals like SXSW and Hangout, they have toured and supported for acts like Dr. Dog, Brandi Carlile, ZZ Ward, Third Eye Blind, DeVotchKa, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers and Dashboard Confessional.

Ragan Whiteside

Fusing elements of Contemporary Jazz, classic R&B, Neo-Soul, and Hip Hop, jazz flutist and singer Ragan Whiteside has played with the likes of Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright and Marion Meadows. She is joined by an all-star Smooth Jazz roster on her latest release Quantum Drive, including Bob Baldwin and Frank McComb on piano and Rhodes (respectively) on the track “Smokey Room” and a cover of Patrice Rushen’s 1982 R&B hit “Remind Me,” featuring Patrice Rushen on keyboards.

Serpent Crown

Dara Santhai, a petite guitar shredder with a delightfully evil voice, fronts San Francisco’s Serpent Crown. Backed by a well-oiled rhythm section, Serpent Crown unleashes metal songs that are catchier and more intense than the sum of the band’s local contemporaries. You don’t even have to like heavy metal to understand why this band is still one of San Francisco’s best-kept secrets.

New Music

Family Force 5Time Stands Still

Veterans of the Christian rock/pop music scene, Family Force 5 have endured several changes since the release of their 2011 album III: they signed to a new label, lost their lead vocalist and founder Solomon “Soul Glow Activatr” Olds and picked up a new drummer. The release of their fourth studio album Time Stands Still offers a mix of fun, party anthems and reflective worship tracks including the lead single “BZRK” featuring Christian hip hop artist KB and “Walk On Water” featuring Melodie Wagner from Hillsong Young & Free.

Dilated PeoplesDirectors of Photography

Returning from an eight-year hiatus, Evidence and Rakaa Iriscience stay true to the formula that’s worked for 17 years: chopped up soul samples, raw lyrics and knocking drum machines. With Babu’s touch on the turntables and boards, Directors of Photography presents a picture of the West Coast underground. These 3 individual artists have pushed each other as a team to create a new classic Cali Hip-Hop record at their new home, Rhymesayers. Aloe Blacc and Krondon stand out as featured artists on “Show Me The Way” and “The Bigger Picture.”

No worries, I make spelling mistakes all the tme :)

  2. Why am I constantly asked to sign in? This use to hardly ever happen. Now it happens all too often. I have to look up password. To much hassle.
