Stay tuned for a bevy of new releases coming as we kick off Spring. Synth-Rock pioneers Depeche Mode recently showcased their new studio album Delta Machine on the Late Show with David Letterman along with the lead single “Heaven.” Popular boy band New Kids on the Block are back on the scene with their first album in five years, titled 10, just in time as they embark on their summer tour along with Boyz II Men and 98 Degrees. For the first weeks of April, keep an eye out for new releases from indie bands The Flaming Lips and The Strokes, country favorites Alan Jackson and The Band Perry, and hip hop artists Lil Wayne and Tyler The Creator. Also look out for your favorite American Idol alumni to release new albums this month including Fantasia Barrino, David Archuleta and Crystal Bowersox.
This season forecasts several highly anticipated debut albums. English singer-songwriter Charli XCX will release her major label studio album True Romance, having already developed a fanbase with the success of her singles like “Nuclear Seasons” that have gained attention from various publications like Pitchfork. Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines will release her first solo studio album, which will include both original music and covers. Second season X-Factor winner Tate Stevens will debut his self-titled first album featuring the single “Holler If You’re With Me.” Snoop Lion, formerly known as Snoop Dogg, will release his first album under his new moniker which is a departure from hip hop and reggae, as heard on the lead single “La La La.” Produced by Diplo and Major Lazer, the album will include guest appearances from Chris Brown, Drake, T.I., Busta Rhymes and others.
Black Dynamite composer and producer Adrian Younge has teamed up with executive producer RZA and rapper Ghostface Killah on the crime/horror concept album Twelve Reasons to Die, based on a comic book of the same name. Ghostface, Younge and their live band, Venice Dawn, are already underway on a national tour that began at SXSW.
