From the Curators: Your Pandora Guide to Spring Break

“…it’s Spring againScreen Shot 2013-03-26 at 10.35.32 AM

I can hear the birds sing again

See the flowers start to bud

And see young people fall in love”

So goes a well-worn refrain in the song “Spring Again” made famous by Lou Rawls. As we step out of the icy, wind-swept clutches of winter and into the regenerative dawn of spring, there’s a palpable optimism that fills the air, as the days grow longer and the temperature slowly warms. The season exacts a sensation of excitement in us all, which is magnified for those of us who happen to be students. The growing anticipation of relief and respite culminates with the arrival of the infamous Spring Break, which represents a weeklong opportunity to forget about deadlines, research and studying in exchange for some well-deserved R and R…and a chance to PARTY!

Over the years, this casual rite of Spring Break has turned into a mythical party juggernaut, wherein thousands of young revelers feel a deep-seeded moral obligation to descend upon tropical locations for endless amounts of fun in the sun…and sometimes sunburns too.

At any rate, if you need some assistance letting loose, be it in an exotic locale or the comfort of your own home, we’re offering up an assortment of party-ready stations for all your Spring Break-ing needs!

First on the list is Hip Hop Party, featuring a mix of the most requested new artists, like Travis Porter, Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne, Drake and Kid Cudi, primed and ready to help you get your swagger on.

If you’re looking to take the party to the next level, may we suggest the high BPM intensity of Club Dance Party, which will ignite the dance floor with artists such as David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Pitbull, Basshunter, Kesha and Nero.

If yours is a tight-pants-and-glasses kind of party (hipsters, we’re looking at you!), we have Indie Dance Party at the ready, which includes highly danceable tracks by Passion Pit, Foster The People, Phoenix, The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey and Walk The Moon.

If you’re looking for the sabor distinto of a Latin urban vibe, throw on our Reggaeton and Hip Hop Party, which features los artistas más pedidos del género, including Wisin & Yandel, Daddy Yankee, Pitbull, Don Omar, Alexis & Fido and Plan B.

And as always, Today’s Hits and Today’s Alternative provide a great mix of all the most relevant contemporary artists and songs.

Lastly, we can’t finish this post and leave March Madness unmentioned! For all you sports fanatics who are holed-up in front of the flat screen watching college hoops, we have a suggestion: turn down the volume on the TV and turn up one of our three sports related stations! We have Rap and Hip Hop Pre-Game, Rock Pregame and Jock Jams, all guaranteed to raise the energy level while watching your favorite team!

2013 is shaping up to be a great year, and it’s only getting better with the arrival of Spring Break and March Madness!  Please enjoy responsibly ;)!
